10/17/14 Update: I went back because I really wanted the particular car they had. This time I actually wrangled them down to a fair price and found out that my initial negative experience was almost entirely due to a very green salesman. He didnt know how to deal with someone that actually knew what they were doing from the buyers side. It felt like he thought he had to squeeze every penny he could out of me or hed be fired. Once I got the price worked out, everyone else I dealt with was very nice, knowledgeable, and straight forward. I dont want to call out the sales guy by name because he was so new and once hes more comfortable maybe he wont be so bad to work with. Until then, though, Ill leave up my original story so if youre unlucky enough to get that guy, you know what youll have to push through to make a good deal. This pertains only to the dealership side, I didnt have any experience with the service center, they may be awesome. The salesman was polite enough, I liked the car, everything seemed like it was going to go smoothly. Then we got to talking price. Sticker was $9488 but the car only booked at $8300 (NADA and KBB were actually in total agreement, $8300 either one). Clean trade in on my car was $3300 but there were some scratches and the SRS light was on, so I figured they wouldnt give me that, but I thought $2250 to $2500 was more than fair. $2000 at the very least. They were going to list it at $6000 minimum, likely more, based on its book values, so there was no reason they couldnt give me that. The first set of paperwork they brought out had their car at sticker and offered me $500 on my car. When I made it abundantly clear that was a bad joke of an offer, they came back with knocking their car down to $9000 and giving me all of $1500 on my car. Maybe the trade was approaching fair with its issues, but the price on theirs was still ridiculous, and they wanted a random $200 administrative fee on top of it all. When they said that was the best they could do I parted ways with them. I expected a last ditch effort from the sales manager as I made my way out the door that might have looked a little better, but it was not to be. They let me walk out of their establishment thinking they could fleece someone else for $2000 between their trade and the car price.

We just purchased our 2nd vechicle from Thompson. When I walked through the door I knew exactly who I wanted to talk to. Brandon Martz helped my husband and I when we purchased a Cargo Van for our business about 6 months ago. When we walked out we felt we got the best service a person could get. This time I went alone to puchase a vechicle for myself. I had no idea what I wanted except for the fact I wanted luxury and good gas milage. Brandon had nothing to go by except for that. He was wonderfully patient and worked extremely hard to find me just what I wanted. Brandon is very knowledgable about all the vehicles. By time he explained everything to me and anwsered all my questions, I felt confident in making the right decision. During the process I had to call back and forth to my husband, I had several work calls and my daughter got lost while driving in Springfield, which Brandon got on the phone with and steered her through Springfield to the dealership. The whole time he was smiling and never showed one sign of being in a hurry or trying to push us through to get to another customer. By the time all the paper work was done, (by the way our finance person was Mr. Wood and he was wonderful also.) the store had closed. Brandon stayed until almost 9pm explaining the car features and helping us remove our items from the vehicle we traded in. The first time Brandon worked with us, we walked away feeling like we had just been sold a vehicle by an EXCELLENT PERSON (not a sales-man). This time when I walked out I knew I had been sold a vehicle by and EXCELLENT PERSON as well as making a GOOD TRUSTED FRIEND. I have purchased several cars in my life, 4 in the last few years, 2 that have been from 2 other big name Springfield dealerships. I can tell you this, Thompson is the best dealership I have ever been too and I plan on doing all my future purchases with them!

Initial call to schedule maintenance, was uncomfortable. And once there. while leaving service area, loaner was a quarter empty, lady refused to come & verify for over a minute. I wrote down my cars mileage, came in handy now 846 miles later SINCE THE OIL WAS NOT CHANGED. And car told me to DO IT NOW. Cute forgetting sticker too. Think theyd known just pushing reset oil wouldnt save them. Only 1.2 miles were added to my car 4 days later when done. Still having to wait for issue from list to be DONE once there. Customer service / friendliness not heard during this experience. The ending, having a young male driving car with door opened by his show on that scratches easy plastic, placing into PARK while still moving way to fast, messing up MY PERFECT tight transmission. Had any employee cared enough to WRITE DOWN, as I asked, please place emergency brake on before removing foot, after placed in park, ,,,,,, why Im I bothering writing this, whos going to believe a customer can .......14 Encore brakes STILL GO TO FLOOR WITH MINIMAL STOPPING or GRAB VERY QUICKLY, nose into dashboard , cause its to fast for seatbelt to assit. Smell of gasoline STILL and key only works one way / one side. But hey, when purchase new, with cash those big companys got their profit. So now Im told to pay for oil change that YOU didnt do. It has recalls, think I can bring it to my closest dealer, AND TRUST theyd get done...Whats CarFox going to read, °dumb customer didnt have oil changed when due°..... I do ty for being honest with corporate explaining you didnt do anything PS: funny theirs a recall similar to my complaint you sarcastically "remarked" to SIGNED: 4 SALE

My husband Mark and I recently bought a new Terrain. The car is great, runs very well. Our sales guy was Terry. He was very friendly and helpful. They told us wrong information on a warranty but later caught it, apologized and told us they would stick by what they had told us, which meant a lot to us. They could have easily done what other businesses do when they give you wont info, apologize and leave you stuck with it, but they did not. They gave us a great deal and worked with us. The finance guy was also very friendly and made that process actually enjoyable. kuddos to him and our sales guy. A week or so later after we bought the car we noticed that we couldnt get Bluetooth to stream properly. We took the car back for them to show us how to work it. Terry grabbed someone who knew how to better work with Bluetooth but he stayed with us which was nice because he was a familiar face. The young man he brought in either didnt fully know what the Bluetooth in our car had the capability to do, or he knew and was too uncomfortable to tell us that it wouldnt do what we wanted it do to. He had us doing stuff that was pointless. The Bluetooth in our car is not capable of things we were told it was and thats a real bummer. We are only giving 4 stars because of being told wrong info a few times. Other than that, good experience.
