I was lied to, but I dont regret it. This is probably the best place to go. The one big problem I had with CarHop is that I never really got any information unless I asked the right questions. The people there seemed to want to hide all of the facts, and not tell you anything unless you directly asked, and even then they would deny or change the subject. I still never got an answer about why the airbag light was on... I guess you probably cant get around that when buying a used car though. They also told me that several things that were wrong with the car would be covered by CarHop if I took it in to get repairs. When it came to the contract, however, these were just "Check and Advise", which is NOT covered and CarHop will NOT pay for. The guy just lied right to my face and said CarHop would pay for it, when the contract said otherwise. I trusted him not to lie to me and he took advantage of me not knowing. With all that out of the way, I would like to say that everything else was great. Of course, they did their best to get me to buy one of their vehicles - even changing batteries on a hot day to make sure the car would run so I could test drive it. They also got me approved for good enough vehicles even though I had only $150, zero credit and nothing else (the cars were very expensive, but what can you expect?). They put their trust in me, and I thank them for that. There was no pressure to buy or not buy a vehicle, and the people were very understanding about me needing to take time to come to a decision. They were informative about what they did and didnt like about certain cars on the lot, and helped me find the one that I wanted to buy. If youre going to buy a car from here, I definitely think it is the best place to go. I would only recommend that you write down ALL of the questions you have and document to make SURE that all of those questions get answered. Also do your best to make sure they are not lying to you about things in the contract - figure out if your issues will ACTUALLY get paid for or NOT (cause that stuff is important)!

Carhop here in Springfield (not Carmart). Is a wonderful place, I continuely read these reviews of peoples complaints. To be honest its all boo hoo stuff that other car dealerships do as well. Complaining about references?? Seriously...what do you expect? You are a high risk individual...and when you fail to pay they want their vehicle back. Warranty issues? really...you should be thankful that there is a warranty on a used vehicle! Of course if you do the damage yourself their not going to pay for it! If your told to go and take it to the shop and get it fixed, then do so! Its not their responsiblity to drive YOUR vehicle to the shop. They are unable to give you prices on the vehicle, mileage on it until you actually apply for it! All high risk dealerships are like this! No other dealership will change batteries for you on a 100 degree summers day! No other deathership will stay 4 hours after closing time to wait for you to go get paper work. No other dealership is going to give you a vehicle with little down payment, past repos and horrible credit. You are a HIGH RISK, when you are a HIGH RISK they have to secure the risk by references, used vehicles, interest rates and so on. To be honest most people that complain about Carhop are ungrateful to be given a second, third or even fourth chance with a vehicle purchase. Most of them are the ones that put themselves in the situition they are in now. SO! Carhop....is a wonderful place, has a wonderful sales person named Tyler...he will do everything he can to make sure you are satisfied, if he is unable to he will let you know first hand. If you run out of gas, break down or anything he will go pick gas up for you, pick you up and take you home, put a battery in vehicle! He is always about customer satisfication. So just because a few people complain about their references and used car issues...they are most likely the ones that failed to pay, ungrateful and are at higher risk for a vehicle loan. GO CARHOP!

This place started out great. The car was ok for...6 weeks. Then everything started falling to pieces. Ive had this thing in the shop 4-5 times already for engine problems and we havent even had it a year. Sure, we havent had to pay for most of it because of the warranty, but this is our only vehicle, so its really difficult to work around a car being in the shop for days. On top of that, we have never missed a payment, and the one time we called them to let them know we needed a few more days to get our next payment in because of a hiccup with my direct deposit, they freak out and say we have to pay in full on time, or bring the car back. Really?! Weve literally never missed a payment EVER in almost a year and the first time something goes wrong, they lose their minds. They had the gall to suggest I borrow the money from a relative or friend. Thats just insulting. I understand this is a high risk dealership, but we havent gotten cars from any dealerships previously, and the only reason we tried Carhop was to build some credit because we had none. (I will thank them for at least building us some credit, because now weve been able to apply for more things and be approved because of them, so they did help with that at least). After all that, I asked them to just come get the car because we didnt have the money right this second, we needed a couple days. THEN the lady says "Well if you could just pay us $20 or so we will be ok until you pay the rest in a couple days. We cant just come take the car back." YOU JUST TOLD ME I HAD TO PAY IT ALL OR SURRENDER THE VEHICLE BACK TO YOU. SMH.

I purchased a mercury grand Marquis from carhop. I liked the car a lot. When I got my balance low enough I traded the car in for something else. What I got had transmission issues so they sent it to be fixed. When I got the car back it still had transmission problems. They put me in something else and I wasnt happy with it so they agreed to take it back. At that time though I was told they had already sold my trade in. They had sold it within a week I was told. So, at that point I was told that the balance owed on my original trade in would be taken care of since they sold my car. I went in and signed some papers and was told the debt was settled. Now, Im getting letters from a collection agency called ncb because uac sold my account to them. It was supposed to he settled. Ive called and talked to Maria several times over the last three weeks who says shes taking care of it and that she sees on my account where it was supposed to be taken care of. Today, Saturday, April 23rd I received a letter from uac informing me that my account was sold to ncb. Thanks a lot. So, when all was said and done I was without a car, no compensation for what I paid on the car whatsoever and now Ive been turned over to a collection agency. Not happy at all and will be making the appropriate phone calls to various agencies to make sure carhop and uac are both taken care of. This is illegal.
