I had my bike overhauled over the winter at a different shop, it was stripped to the frame and put back together including all new cables and housings. My first ride of the year the bike didnt shift gears properly; the chain dragged on the derailleur, and it acted like an automatic transmission; it would literally shift gears on its own. Clearly the other shops bike mechanic didnt even bother to put the bike on a stand to shift through the gears. I brought it in to Positive Pedals a few weeks ago and Rich advised that I replace the cables and housings again, since the prior installation was done improperly, and with inline adjusters. Rich explained that inline adjusters are not necessary if the cables are properly stretched when installed; there should be no need for adjustment when the installation is done by a professional mechanic. Rich also noticed that when the other shop had removed my SRAM crankset (new two summers ago) they forced out the threaded nut inside the crank that helps with removal, stripped the threads, and the part is now missing. Rich replaced the cables and housings, did a proper installation, and made other adjustments to the bike. He also installed new carbon fiber-looking handlebar tape which looks and feels awesome. I took the bike out for its first ride post repair and it rides better than the day I bought it. If you want professional bike service at a fair price look no further. Go to Positive Pedals Bike Shop and you will enjoy the best service available, with expert staff that knows bikes inside and out. I love Richs passion about cycling and his expert knowledge. Thanks Rich and Holly for everything. I love riding my bike again!!!

Positive Pedals is tucked away in this building. The entrance is actually located on the alley between Queen and Penn Aves, just south of 66th St. Theres car parking in the lot off Queen. I just went in for my first repair this week. Rich was friendly, thorough, and spent a lot of time explaining the details of my problem, and how he would fix it. He seemed to really care about resolving the issue and interested in discussing the details. The price for the repair labor was comparable to other bike shops, and the parts actually seemed cheaper than usual bike shop markup. I got my repair (new chain and bottom bracket) turned around in two days, which felt pretty comparable to other shops. My bike pedals like new, and I definitely plan on going back!

AWFUL! My interaction with a sales associate was just like any other Ive visited at other bike shops. However the tone shifted almost immediately when I described what I was looking for in a bike and how I was going to utilize it. I was met with a very condescending tone. Explaining to me I didnt know anything. I openly explained that Im new to the area as well as getting back into mountain biking. I was very open about the fact that I didnt have much knowledge in the subject matter. Then I received a brief lesson on how to use the internet, "highest rated bike shop in the Minneapolis metro" he said. Unless you are Pro-level All-Star status, I wouldnt recommend visiting a place just to leave feeling belittled and talked down to as a lesser being.

I tooled around multiple bike shops before settling happily with Richs. As someone who has noooo idea about bikes, I had difficulties differentiating who was really looking out for me and who could have been taking advantage of my cluelessness when it came to bike recs. Dropping half a thousand dollars on a bike is freaky!!! But he was the only one that gave me an authentic, "I have your best interests in mind" kind of vibe. Rich is extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to listen to your wants/needs and walk you through your best options. Highly, highly, highly recommend!

I stumbled upon Positive Pedals a few days ago and chatted with the owner Rich about Fat Bikes for a while. Decided to check out a couple other shops and immediately found myself comparing them to Rich and what his shop had to offer, non of them came close to matching his knowledge, friendliness, or prices! Picked up my Surly Pugs from Positive Pedals today and I couldnt be more happy with my decision. If youre looking for a LBS to support in the Twin Cities, Positive Pedals is the place!

I was at a tournament out of town and by chance stopped in to see what the shop had to offer as I was looking for a used bike for my son. After speaking with the owner I confirmed that buying new was the best way to go for me and he helped me find the best fit for my needs. He is extremely knowledgeable and friendly to deal with. Even though I am a couple hours from his shop I will go back to him for all my future needs. I highly recommend stopping into this shop, you wont be disappointed.

Amazing customer service! I would return here in a heartbeat! My bike is now safe, rides great and I received extra info about my bike and its parts. They told me it might take 2-3 days, but I just picked it up Less Than 24 hours! (Another bike shop in the told me if I would pay $70 Extra, they would get it to me in 3 days) Thanks, everyone, for fixing my bike!

Just bought a Kestral bike from this new shop. I had a great experience, Rich (the owner) has a lot of bike knowledge and carries well known quality brand merchandise. Prices at this shop are very competitive and I compared against online retailers and they were the same or lower. I will return for additional biking needs.

After talking to Rich for just a little while, I knew he was who I wanted to buy my bike from. So much knowledge and you can see the passion in his eyes for what he does. I worked in retail for over 20 years and Rich does it right. The customer comes first and service is number one. I now have found my bike shop.

The other reviews cant say enough great things about this shop. After placing an online order and paying, I found out the next day their online inventory was out of whack. They still managed to get me a great bike at a great price for my girlfriends birthday!
