We arent big bike people. By that I mean, we dont know much about bike brands and all the latest bike technology. But we bike a fair amount and were shopping for a new bike for my wife. All of the employees were great. They were very patient with us and really tried to understand her needs and recommend bikes they thought would suit her. Max from the shop was particularly great and spent a lot of time with us. We looked at around 5 bike shops, she rode a ton of bikes, and ultimately picked one from behind bars. They were very friendly when we came back for a second ride and let her take the bike out for almost 40 minutes, so she could be sure it was the right one. After buying her bike, and seeing their service quality, i bright my vintage bike in for a tune up. I was planning on getting one of the more expensive packages, but their mechanic took a look while i was standing there and said it only needed a small amount of work, which was much less expensive than the package. I really appreciate that kind of honesty. Especially when dealing with a non expert like me. I would highly recommend this shop for bike purchases or repairs.

I moved to Minneapolis about two years ago and first went to a bike shop near where I lived in Uptown. Worst service I had ever experienced and left a bad taste in my mouth for bike shops up here. Well, I moved to Northeast Minneapolis and walked by this place when I needed a helmet. The guys in there were super friendly and super helpful in finding me the right bike helmet. Im not a bike expert by any means and they didnt get an attitude with me or act annoyed when I asked questions. After that we decided to bring my bike in for a tune up and to have the brake pads changed. All was done at a reasonable price and the process was sweet and simple. Definitely will go back.

The bikes might be spendy but there are only a few places where you go for bike repair when you mean business. This is one of those places. Sleep well if you go to this place. This is the kind of shop that other bike shop rats go to when they need things done. This place is the "real deal" and whats really important is that you will get helped here - you are about least likely to get any attitude or to feel uncomfortable in this environment. Even if you are "out of your element," these guys are a class act and will help you out. Its truly a rare commodity and I highly recommend this bike shop.

I beat the hell out of my Marin Larkspur for 4 years, putting 6000+ miles on it on nasty roads, crashing it 3 times and never brought it in for a professional tuneup. When I brought it in for a full overhaul, it came back better than it was when I first bought it. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and it cost me $50 under their estimate. I would highly recommend this place to any biker in the Twin Cities.

I just got my bike tuned up by Behind Bars. I did the deluxe tune because I havent been great about maintenance in the four years Ive had the bike. Due to the number of miles I put on each year, I did need a bunch of new parts as well. It was well worth the money! My bike rides like its brand new. I would definitely recommended Behind Bars for your bike maintenance and repair needs!

These guys sold me my first bike as an adult and have been keeping it (and me) in top shape ever since. Always appreciate the crews helpful advice and willingness to fix my abused parts without making me feel like a fool (which I know I am when it comes to legitimately caring for my bike). Long story short, this place is great and I love supporting my local shop.

Great service and super friendly! Didnt make me feel stupid for not knowing much about bikes. They replaced my hub and wheel while I waited, less than 30min and kept me updated re:what they were doing while doing it. Suggested other optional repairs/upgrades but didnt pressure me on anything. Best experience Ive had at a bike shop!

Saw all the positive comments and was excited to check this place out. Staff more interested in the Leet biker customers and was treated like I didnt know my stuff which is true but I sure dont like being treated that way. Oh well dont usually write reviews but wanted to post for those people like me who actually check them out.

I just purchased my first bicycle ever, and was pleasantly surprised by Behind Bars. I was very much out of my element, but the staff was very friendly and informative; not at all condescending. I would recommend them to anyone.

Excellent, friendly, and very quick service! Walked in, bought a bike from Christian and Max set it up while I waited. He even offered and mounted the cycle computer I bought at the same time. Great shop and great people. Thanks!

Great information, good advice. Brought in my broken bike, got an estimate and an offer of a used bike for only a bit more than fixing my old one. They didnt talk down to me or ignore me because Im not a serious bike person.

Great shop with very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The guys there will know exactly what you need for whatever you want to do with your bike from a new build to updating your 1970s 10 speed to modern components.

Good people with good knowledge of bikes. Would rather spend a few more pennies here and get the right parts then ordering online.
