I am the type of shopper that does her research on prices before going into the store. Found my item on sale on the Joann Fabric website, marked down from $4.99 to $3.50. When I get to the register, they all ring up at full price. No problem, I think, I mention to the cashier that they are on sale on their website. She told me that unless I could bring up the price on my phone TO THEIR OWN website, to prove the price difference, she would have to charge me full price. I would understand this if I was quoting a competitor price, but not their own company website. So I try to pull the site up on my phone, yet I am getting crappy internet service in there, so its really slow. I asked to speak to a manager in the meantime. Manager was absolutely useless, and as the people piled up in line while I waited for the site to pull up on my phone (Iphone 5 w/LTE btw) I started to ask why they cant honor a price that is on their own website. I got the song and dance about the Joann website is a "competitor" to the stores, and that the stores have no way to see what is being advertised on their website. When I told her I didnt think this this was "me - as a consumers" problem, I kept getting the "there is nothing we can do" statement from her. Yeah. Thats helpful. So I ask "So all these people have to wait in line while I pull up your site on my phone to prove that you have this marked on sale on your website. All over a total of about $6...?" She says yes. So then I mention that I looked up store reviews on Google and yelp before I came in, and was she aware that the store had gotten awful reviews in terms of customer service? Her response "Well, all companies have that problem." Uh, no. Not all companies have that problem. The execs at Joann are handcuffing their employees with terrible technology and ability to make managerial level decisions, and its obvious these managers are constantly getting a hard time from customers. Get it together Joann. Or your stores will slowly be circling the drain like others who havent updated their stores for 20+ years.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION..... I have been going to this location for years and have had issue after issue with the customer service. I stopped going to this location and started going to the Maple Grove, MN location. Today I called at 8:15 pm and spoke a older lady. I politely asked if they could put an item on hold and I would come and pickup it up in the morning. She took my request, asked for my name and told me they can told it for 24 hours. I asked if she could confirm they had the items, and was told that they were too busy. Then I asked if I should call back closer to close. The lady, took a deep breath and rudely asked for my number that she would call me back. I thanked and asked for her name, so that when I came in the following morning I could thank her and tell the manager how great she was. She said thanks for calling and HUNG UP. Seriously, that lady should be fired. Obviously, she wasnt planning on calling me back. I have worked in retail for years and been in her shoes, where its busy but that is still no excuse NOT TO CALL a customer back.

I know every store has its issues and this one has a few, but I love this store. The frame shop is unbelievable in its quality and customer service (thank you sonja). I have had several complicated projects and these guys put it all together and my projects are beautiful. They alway "get it" even if I dont always know what I am doing, they do. And some of the employees have been there a long time and when they are cutting my fabric we chit chat and they offer great advice. And I have also bought 2 sewing machines from Pam, she works in the center of the store selling Viking sewing machines, (I know that it is a "store with in a store", but she is so awesome. She is so knowledgeable, she can answer most questions about sewing and or machines! I give this store a 5 star rating.

I went here with my friends. We were going to buy something but first my friend wanted to check the price of something that she found in isles before the register. And we went up to the cashier lady but after she checked the price she told my friend that she had to go put it back. (Through the line of people) and my friend was going to do it when I was done checking out. But the cashier said " I guess youre incapable of putting it back so Ill put it back" my friend was so insulted. That was only one time the rest of the people that work there are so sweet. They care about helping you in something that they are interested in. But that one bitter lady was really rude.

I agree with the other post about rude service. This place is bad. Because im not an octogenarian and happen to be male i get treated very rudely. If they put half as much effort into ringing people up at the register as they did hovering over me making sure i wasnt stealing anything (i certainly dont look like i belong there) they would maybe have some happier customers.....of a younger generation. Ill just stick to ordering my fabrics, candy making supplies, craft supplies and puzzles for my son online. Thanks for helping me decide that today. Yes.... this IS the guy in the marijuana shirt that just left your store about half an hour ago.

At check out the cashier grumbled at me because she was having to return a birthday present I was there to exchange. All in all she was friendly and earnest, just frustrated because the stores cashier software has such a cumbersome user-interface. She had to manually process everything for 15 minutes, and then she ended up processing the exchange as a RETURN and I got charged twice what I should have paid. The person who got me the gift still has yet to see the money credited and felt insulted when she found out I returned her birthday gift to me. I WOULD NEVER BUY PEOPLE GIFTS FROM HERE.

I wont bother going back to this store. Its just not worth the hassle. The lines are long, the store is understaffed, and sale prices dont register at the checkouts. My mom and I shopped there together last weekend. We both bought several items on sale -- but none of the sale prices actually were marked down at the register. My mom decided to let it pass, but I spent another 10 minutes in line to get an adjustment at customer service. The clerk blamed the computers, but I think Jo-Ann Fabrics was deliberately misleading us with sale prices they never intended to honor.

I just took a sewing basic class today and I made square fabric that not even finished because instructor need to show around what we can find in joann that useful for us??? Do not wast time and money on this class and other class as well. I thought I would get some good advices or find some answers that I would like to know that I can find all the information and answers myself or online. Oh, I did find many answers from online I just didnt know for sure. I would recommend watching youtube video or take a look some of on-line classes that fits your needs.
