Discount Pets in Livonia provides excellent service for your bird needs. I have been taking my 4 parrots to get groomed for years now along with supplies and have never had any problems with what Discount Pets has to offer. The owner of Discount Pets, Pat is well respected by the community of Livonia and has been delivering top of the line supplies, and a variety of foods at a reasonable price for years! Ali provides top of the line grooming service for parrots! I will continue going to Ali for my parrots grooming needs. Ali provides nutrition / care for all birds. Lisa and other staff members are very kind and assisting to help you find what you are looking for! Cages are always been cleaning, food provided to in house parrots looking for great homes, in other words... The store always looks great!. Livonia Discount Pets also provides boarding , and grooming such as Bathing. I have recommended my family and friends to go to discount pets for their needs. Not only does Discount Pets have bird supplies, they also have a section for dogs and cats with a variety of toys. I am very pleased with Discount Pets Livonia for being a provider to our feathered friends. On a personal note; Pat, Ali and staff... Thank You for providing such great service / supplies to our community! You all are the best!!! Thank You, Jeff and family of: Amore, Dill, Fletcher and Skylar .

What an awful experience. I purchased a love bird for a family friend a week ago. He is 14 year old boy who has loved and taken amazing care of his current bird. The staff was rude and very odd. They were fighting amongst themselves and ignored us a good deal of the time we were there. We were finally helped and told they dont allow people to hold love birds before they are purchased. This seemed very strange to me, but we chose a bird anyway. The salesperson (a young girl) handled the bird (Louie) very aggressively as she put him in the cage. You could tell he was terrified. We got home and all seemed well. Louie warmed up to us and has been treated extremely well. He has been kept in an appropriate cage, eaten the right food, and handled with love. Unfortunately, we woke up the other morning to find that our sweet bird had died. The 14 year old is absolutely crushed. When his dad spoke to the owner of the store, he was told he could get 30% off another bird. The blame was put on us, when we did absolutely nothing but take wonderful care of Louie. All signs and forum information point to Louie coming into the house with a disease that ended up killing him. Please do not go to this store. Not only is the customer service terrible, you might end up with heartache :(

After reading a couple of poor reviews, I feel the need to give this store kudos for being who they really are. Professional, Educated, Animal-Loving people are the best way to describe all that Ive met there. No other store in the area knows there birds, from birth to sale, like this store does. They always have young babies and adults to hear , interact with and properly decide which bird is for you. The toy selection is equal to all the petsmarts in the area added up and they have bulk food choices you just dont find around here. My Conure came from that store and she is the nicest, healthiest bird Ive had and she is my 12th. She loves to go back and visit, especially to see Louie, the Toucan, who does not live in bad conditions, as one reviewer noted. He can ruin a pair of glasses in a split second, but he is also happy and gentle and remembers me every time I come in, letting me rub his feathers through the cage. DO NOT TRY this, he trusts me, probably not you. Finally, I would rather get medical/health advice from Discount Pet than go to a vet. If youre in the market for a bird, you owe it to yourself to go here. Also, the cat is just old, but very happy and healthy, all cats throw a hairball every now and again...

the associates were extremely rude as soon as i walked in the door and i was the only customer in the building. i carried my 12 week old puppy close to my chest (that weighs a hefty 2.5 lbs and plays with my Amazon at home regularly) as i took a look at the birds in the cages and they rudely suggested i take a step back because "they are babies and not used to dogs." As i fulfilled their request, i walked around the store to take a look at the merchandise (to find that its not any cheaper than anything you can find at any other pet store), not one associate said a word to me. when i had a question, they had the nerve to ignore me! i left without another word. I would never purchase a single item in this store and am appalled by their lack of customer service. Growing up with animals, training large parrots and dogs and previously working in a pet store myself, I know the difference between a poorly ran business and a decent social environment for a pet store. Just because they havent been socialized as children doesnt mean their birds deserve to be closed off . No wonder I was the only customer there and Pet Supplies Plus (a mile away) was booming with business!

This place has a fantastic selection of toys, cages, perches, and whatever you might need for your feathered friends. The staff if very helpful and always checking to make sure youre finding all you need, and always happy to answer questions or make suggestions. The prices on toys are fair for what they are. The most important thing that I see in a pet place is that the pets look very happy. They certainly do in this place. They get a lot of different breeds, and if Im not mistaken, also have rehoming services. They constantly get baby birds of all sorts as well, even in the off seasons. At one point, my review on here was not so good. I had an issue with an employee that is no longer there. In need of an item immediately, I gave the place a second chance, and Im really glad I did. Since that time, Ive purchased countless toys, 4 cages, perches, and even food from this place with no problems whatsoever. In fact, the owner asked me about the review, and I had completely forgotten Id left such negative comments about this place. I appreciate his forwardness asking me about it.

I have been to this store about three times. Their selection of birds and cages are great. On the down side; for me, a passionate bird lover, they are very pushy on the sales, and will say whatever to get you to buy. As a small business owner myself, I understand that it is a business, and money has to flow. The thing they actually need to work on is customer/bird relationship. Not pushing on the sale of a (at first quietly inquisitive) noisy cockatoo on a person who cant handle noise, and should be introduced to a pionus. They should look out for the bird too, talking to every customer about the time needed to spend with their new family members, from a simple hour a day, to hours. It is a lifetime relationship. If they fear the lack of sales, they should rename the store to Livonia Parrot and Supplies and target the greater Detroit areas bird lovers, there are five plus million people, Im sure they can pull in upwards of 200,000 customers who love medium to large parrots. I will make my way in there again a few mor times, and see if I will change my review.
