This weekend, I went to buy two gerbils and all of their supplies. I had heard bad things about this Petco, so I was trying to find a different place to buy them, besides Petco. Unfortunately though, all pet stores within reasonable range were out of gerbils, so I was forced to buy from Petco. When I arrived at the store, I began looking at the small animals in their cages and was disgusted by the value of care that Petco gave them. For those who dont know, gerbils are burrowing animals and need at least 3-4 inches of bedding (preferably aspen shavings.) This store hadnt even given them an inch. The small amount of what appeared to be cotton was scattered in approx. 1cm high piles amongst the roughly 8g tank (the bare minimum recommended tank size is 10g). The gerbils were hiding in a small acorn hideaway, and when we went to buy them, the employee just lifted up the hideway, and shook the gerbils out of it while they slept. I understand that they arent allowed to handle them, but it seemed cruel to do what they did. Also, I had not yet purchased an enclosure, and did not want to buy a wire cage because of the burrowing and kicking around of shavings that I know gerbils do. So I asked them where they had their glass tanks that they were using and they pointed me to the aquariums. To buy an aquarium, you would have to purchase a seperate net top. The nets they had did not fit, which I understand that different companies make them, but they still told me it would be okay to buy the aquarium and net despite how ill-fitting they were, and that I had cats, which I informed them about. Afterwards, I went to the reptile section and found exactly what I needed for a cheaper price than what they were suggesting me. Now to my last point, I was talking to several employees about purchasing the two female gerbils they had, and the manager told me he could give me a better deal: Purchase three gerbils of unknown sex that were donated to them by a woman whose daughter had bought them from a garage sale without her consent. They had no idea what age they were (they also did not know how old the ones that were sent to them by whoever provides their gerbils were) or how to sex them. Overall, I was very disappointed in the quality of care and knowledge happening at my Bonney Lake Petco, and will only do service with them in the future if there is absolutely no other option. I would not suggest this pet store to any of my close friends. However, my gerbils seem to be healthy, though rather skittish, and are doing quite well in their new home. But I would still prefer not to have to turn to Petco for future pets or supplies.

I recently (8/14/16) took my two senior dogs to the Bonney Lake Petco for the Vetco vaccination clinic, I was told by the staff at Petco that there was a confusion with Vetco and they would not be there until the 21st of the month. My whole reason for going was to get the rabies vaccine for my dogs because they had a grooming appointment on the following Tuesday, Petcos policy is that the animals have to have proof of rabies vaccine. Getting my 15 year old Lab and 11 year old Lab out of the house is a challenge for me and her as she has arthritis in both her shoulders and hips so you can imagine how disappointed I was when I was told that I would have to take them all the to the Covington location to get the vacs! I did go to Covington to get them and when I got there I found out that Tina (BL manager) had called ahead to talk to Jim (Cov manager) to make sure that we were taken care! I was so impressed with the compassion and level of care that given to me and my dogs that i will never go to another retailer for pet supplies! Oh! I met the BL groomer while I was going through all this and i cant wait for their appointment today!!! Awesome job guys! Thank you for all your help!

I brought my 4 month old puppy to get her nails clipped and grinded, will never bring her back. My Harley was obviously very anxious when the groomer brought her back into the room, she was clearly uncomfortable by the way she was whining and barking up on the table, she wouldnt sit still but they tried to clip them anyways- if a dog cannot sit still you should tell their owner you cant clip their nails!! After one paw and forcing Harley down to sit still she finally brought her out to me and told me she couldnt do it, harley was limping when she brought her to me. We get home and I look and her paws and the women cut her quick THREE TIMES ! My poor baby is limping now when she walks because her paw hurts. The female groomer obviously did something to hurt her and make her uncomfortable because shes never freaked out like that even when I take her to the vet !! Harley is a very well behaved puppy and she lovesssssss everyone especially if they give her treats. I believe dogs have better judgement then humans and Ive heard a lot of negative things about the female groomer. Will never bring my baby back here again.

I went in today to buy my dog a harness while checking out I noticed a man grooming a giant dog. He had him several feet off the ground on a tiny grooming table he couldnt even fit on. The rope was so tight around this dogs neck he could barley move. The dog slipped several times in which the man never thought to just put him on the ground for a simple nail cut. The dog then fell and was literally hanging while the man just stood there it wasnt until I started screaming profane words that he started to do something. I made my mother finish checking out whike i took my dog back to the truck i could not deal with stupidity. Do not bring your dogs to the grooming center at pet co. Do it your self or go to the place across the street by walmart where you can do it yourself with their equipment, tubs, soaps, etc..

Do not bring your dog here for grooming. I dropped my dog off at 8:15 am for what I was told would be a few hours to have to call at 1:30 pm to be told another hour and a hïalf until he was ready because they had to rewash him because he was left in the cage so long that he pooped all over. Two hour later I called and its still gonna be 45 minutes. Picked my dog up at 4 and talked to the manager who discounted the bill which I appreciate but I will not come back. I myself am a retail manager and know how important customer service is especially when it comes to someones pet . I dont normally leave reviews but this time I couldnt let it slide. You have been warned.

We moved to Bonney Lake and went back to Petco to get our dog groomed. We have been with Petco on the East Hill in Kent for years. Nice store...however....making an appointment for 2pm...I finally drove to pick up my dog a 5:45PM. This is a completely unreasonable time to get a dog groomed. The groomer, Monica was great, well qualified but that pet grooming area is hopelessly understaffed. Either they hire more groomers or take less dogs. I like Monica, the groomer but I will not go back to that store. I rather driver 45 minutes to Kent East Hill Petco than having my dog sit in that tight space in a kennel for almost 5 hours.
