Its too bad really. I bought my bike here. I used to come here to get it serviced. Under the old staff, the service was lackluster, and had some problems but I felt that everyone knew what they were doing and the mechanics at least attempted. It seems when they replaced all of the staff in management here recently it actually got worse. The new associates (probably from the city) dont understand the clientelle that patronize the shop, how riding is in this area, or the local area in general. I know there are issues always. But I watched a mechanic be rude to a customer and an associate. I understand he was busy, but it is really no excuse. I also know it looked like he was training someone, but that isnt a good example to set for others. I will probably be sticking with wheels of northbrook or when I need to go to a Performance for warranty work, I will head to schaumburg or halsted stores. Its hard to believe it got worse, but from my perspective it did. Go to this store if you want to find discount clothing, they seem to always have a lot. Avoid this store if you need anything else.

I visited the store today because I needed to get a tune up on my road bike and even though I used to be a bike technician myself I am lacking the tools to do the job. Since this specific store was in close proximity to my work I figured Id drop it off and Id have it back within 2 weeks (Perfectly fine expectation even during the busy season). I walked around the store for quite some time being ignored by all of the sales associates. I was then approached by what seemed to be the store manager - I was then told that I would have to bring my bike back in a month because they had no room for it. I reluctantly signed a service ticket reserving my spot. 5 minutes after leaving Performance Bike, I visited another cycle shop down the road and they took my bike with open arms and told me that it would be ready in a week.

I love this shop .. why??? Well on.. a positive note .. I have Been to other locations and did not have the equal amount of service .. I also ask for the ones who like to complain .... negative ..... as ( they can not even repair a flat toe right ) well if you know so much and can do it better then why did you take your bike to the shop..... negative people always try to populate the area .. and bring others down.. mostly distraught employees or customers who could not get their way... or someone who tries to cheat the shop out of money... ya .. I am writing this because have had good service .. even if the service was not good one day... thats one day.. what about the rest of the months .. years .. hey guys .. keep up the good work... improvement comes over time .. not overnight ...

There is a manger and a few mechanic at this store which are great and it is for this reason I regret having to write a negative review. I called and asked if a part was in stock, then drove the 45 minutes, only to find they do not stock the part. I asked while giving a specific part number and even offered to give there in house part number, but was assured the part was in stock. This is the general mood of at least 50% of the employees at Northbrook, the other 50% are rock solid, enthusiasts who hustle when things are busy, and work hard to make sure you are taken care of. Despite the attempt by most of the employees and specifically the one manager, I will no longer be using Performance of Northbrook.

I work in the neighborhood and couldnt make it it my regular bike shop in time so I went here to get a flat fixed. They were seriously understaffed and it took an hour to get it "fixed" so that was pretty annoying. The next morning I wake up at 6am to go ride and my tire is flat as a pancake and they did not put my adaptor valve back on so even if they had acctually fixed it properly I couldnt have put air in it anyways. I could have overlooked the wait. Maybe even over look that they jacked my adaptor valve. But I cant overlook that they couldnt even fix a flat tire right. And the guy there kept calling me buddy. Im not your buddy guy. You suck

i went in to purchase cycling shoes for spin class. i told the sales guy that i have never used clip shoes and asked for some guidance. he provided minimal guidance. knowing very well i was new and didnt know much, he then allowed me to purchase the shoes without an essential part, the cleats. now i have to make a special trip back to the store for the cleats. i am very disappointed that he did not tell me i needed this to actually clip into the pedals. i would have appreciated a little more effort.

I bought an electric bike from Amazon. It comes in a box and Performance Bicycle puts it together. When I picked it up, I realized that it was made for a person shorter than me. Rather than having to cancel the order, Mitch was able to tweak the seat and handlebars for a perfect fit. I expected to leave the bike for the tweaks. But, Mitch did them for me right away. He went above and beyond. I was very impressed with Mitch and the experience I had with Performance Bicycle in Northbrook, IL.

I had a phenomenal experience at Performance Bicycle. I took my bike in for a tune up and the Manager Ace really took care of me from drop off to pick up. He is very knowledgeable about bikes. He explained exactly what needed to be done and is very professional. My bike was ready a week earlier than expected which was a pleasant surprise and its riding better than ever! I highly recommend Performance Bicycle for all your bike needs.

Awesome! My son is going on a 1000 mile bike trip this summer and I got all of his goods here! The staff are the best! They are telling the truth and not just trying selling you the most $$ stuff! OMG the sales are fantastic! The membership with the rewards is great! I got my son some free shorts! They price fantastic! The bike that I got from them was 1,200 and the same bike on the companies website was much more! LOVE this place!

Performance Bicycle may be a chain, but the service I get there is always great and personal. The sales staff and repair guys frequently remember me and help me out with minor repairs I need on my ride home, and theyre always fast when I have minor issues that require immediate attention on my ride home. The gear is good quality and is reasonably priced compared to other shops on the north shore as well.

I have been purchasing from them for 3 years. They are very helpful and the prices are great...I still compare all the time. Recently I retrned a trainer I purchased with a floor mat and they took it back with no issues. I hate to return items but glad that I was treated with much respect. Will continue using them in the future.
