Performance has great promotions and prices, especially during their anniversary sale. I went to this location and was greeted right away. The man I dealt with was odd and all over the place. I had a specific type of bike in mind, and he shut me down. He kept insisting, "Oh no, thats not what you want.." or "No thats not it..." Like someone else wrote, they treat you like an ignorant fool. But he was knowledgeable and offered me promotions, and I did appreciate that. Maybe he was just trying to educate me about bikes, but I really didnt like the approach. The store didnt have the bike I wanted, so I decided to order it online. But another employee told me to just do it at home. But if you order it in the store, they automatically waive your overweight shipment. I guess this employee didnt know that. I only found out by calling the shop the next morning. That gentleman was helpful and listened to me. I guess it depends on what time of the day you come into the store. Online orders are not recommended--the customer service reps transfer you all over the place, and they cant answer all your questions. I suggest ordering in the store; its less of a hassle, just make sure you check online to see which gets you the better price and tell them. Performance is a mixed bag when it comes to customer service--just like all retail stores. I went back to pick up my bike and had a pretty good experience. Ask for Samantha or David; they were great.

I took a bike in for a simple repair, but when I walked in, no one seemed to care that I was there. I didnt need a hug or anything, but I did need someone to direct me to their service department. After wandering around a bit on my own, I found some guy in the back who took care of my bike fairly quickly, but when I went to pay, there were two registers occupied by two employees who were leisurely surfing the net for products for customers who were in no hurry. Meanwhile, another customer and I were waiting with two quick purchases. Finally, someone took my ticket from the repair shop, but miscalculated my total. Fairly minor in general, but inattentiveness seems to be this stores culture. Then, after hed already charged my card he looked at the signature line to see where Id written "see ID." I thanked him for checking, but reminded him that he ought to check before charging my account. Then he got defensive and told me something about how they only compare signatures, at which point I was no longer listening and simply walked out the door. Ive been to one other bike shop on Wellington and Broadway called Johnny Sprockets....much friendlier, and comparable prices for service.

I was hit by a car and this being the only place open at the time I went here to get it repaired. With other work, I needed new drop bars 25.6. My stem clamp was 25.6. They only had 31.8s in stock so I asked them to order one. Over a week later I found that they didnt want to order new bars so I found my bike with a brand new 31.8 stem. They replaced it without telling me. It seems like they just grabbed any stem off of the shelf because aside from not being 25.6, its not even the same rise. I had my bike professionally fitted and this is simply unacceptable. Rightfully, they didnt charge me for the stem and they offered to order a new one in, but frankly Ive had enough. The brakes are flimsily tuned as well. No word on how its shifting yet. I will say that they were very helpful in faxing me a copy of the estimate for insurance purposes, but it doesnt change the way they lazily put my bike together. Performance may have cheap stuff, but I wont go there for service again.

Unfriendly, rude, curt.. the list describing the service quality here can go on and on. I wanted to buy a bike,Performance Bicycle was nearby and so I went in looking for a bike. I started to talk to the service staff simply wanting to find out more about the basics such as the various types of bicycles and the various accessories such as racks and bags. The service staff promptly proceeded to make me feel stupid and ignorant with his mocking tone, condescending attitude and smarter than thou smirk. I thanked the service staff for his words of insight and looked around for any bicycles that I might be interested in buying. I generally found that the price range out of my budget and they did not have anything within my fairly modest budget. When I asked whether they were going to have a sale anytime soon, I was again met with an arrogant reply. At that time, I knew that was my cue to exit immediately and never come back.

Dont know where all the hate is coming from? But I bought a bike from a performance bikes in the suburbs about one week ago. First day I rode it, the handle bars almost fell off and the seat would not stay properly adjusted. Brought it into this place and they tightened everything up no questions asked, no charge. Rode the bike the next day, handle bars fine, seat again not staying adjusted. So brought it in a second time, again tightened it now problem. Rode it the next day....same problem. Come in again a bit more frustrated and explain the problem to the store manager. He looks at it and realizes I need a new seat post because I may be a bit too big for the current one. Replaces it with a Forte Team Alloy Post, no hassle, no charge. Absolutely great experience, will be more than willing to do all my bike shopping needs here and refer as many friends as possible. Thanks

I stopped in July 09 to get a new road bike and I was greeted less than 5 seconds after walking in the door. I was immediately offered assistance, but I told them I was just looking. I started to look, and then a few minutes later I was approached by another employee who was very friendly and knowledgable. He taught me some fitting techniques and helped me decide between the two road bikes I was looking at. They had it inspected by the guys in the back before letting me go outside and ride it. I ended up buying, but I didnt have my bike rack with me, so they held the bike in the back for me, while I went home to get it. I came back an hour later with it and was immediately recognized again as I walked into the store. They had my bike ready to go for me. Overall I had an A++++ experience and will defintely go back there.

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER take your bike here to get fixed. Just dont do it. Shame on me for trying it twice as the first time I went there I found out I needed a new headset. No problem. But when they ran around like fools and told me they didnt know how to fix it I should have known not to go back (it was a super easy installation and the shop I took it to had no idea what they were confused about). But when I got a new bottom bracket (went in for kickstands for the boys and to get a derailleur adjustment) they DID NOT TIGHTEN THE CRANK bolts and the whole crank fell off on the road. Moreover, the crank and spindle were totally filthy which showed me they had not even wiped anything down with a rag before installation. Most unprofessional "work" I have ever seen in all my days as a cyclist.
