I brought my bike in to get checked out. The first thing the tech told me is that it wouls take up to a week, and we can do a full check and clean up for $90.00. I told the guy i don't think that there's that much wrong with it, only that the tires are low and need some air, as well as my gears & brakes need to be slightly adjusted. He said that is a minimum of 59 to 90 dollar charge and it will take a week. After taking a 3 second look at my gears he told me my gear shifters are broken, he pulled a box of the shelf that cost 60 dollars, said you need these and you need labor about 40 dollars. I asked are you sure that there is nothing that could just be adjusted? He said no, that both gear shifters are broken.... I told him to give me my bike back and let me be on my way. I brought my bike over to performance bike on roselle and golf road in schaumburg. The tech there put the bike on the rack, inside let me just check these out real quick, he un screwed my gear shifters squirted some stuff in there adjusted the gears I just hit my brakes, n my bike works like brand new. He even said before I told him I went anywhere that he would check them out for free and make sure that there is a problem before I head to buy anything new and waste money. This made me have a extremely terrible experience at village cycle sport and will never step foot back in that place again. They tell you things just to make money and do not think about your needs at all.

Went in about 10 years ago for the purchase of 2 bikes for my kids We went there twice in about 3 week period. Each time we went in we were ignored. Fast forward to the past weekend I had a small change. I was approached by a cocky bike man. I asked about a certain bike and he just pointed. "There’s some over here" Some over there. Nothing of hey my name is Joe Schmuck what are you intending on doing? Trails? racing? off-road, nothing. no information of what is the difference between this bike or that. No price range I was looking for. No recommendations of what would be best. Nothing Just a Rude place to go. I should have remembered the last time. I bought 2 new trek bikes in Downers Grove where they were HAPPY to show us around. I was and are looking for a bike in the $1K range. Looks like back to Downers Grove. Maybe Ill try a place closer to my home Town of EGV. Maybe if my last name was Johnson I may have got an ounce of respect. Stay away! Should really be 1 star. Wow, just got done reading other posts on here, Glad to see its not just me!

First off, lets start with the good. This is a beautifully merchandised shop that has an excellent selection of road, cyclocross, and hybrid bikes. They also have a nice set of accessories and a smaller collection of components and clothes. The shop is always clean and organized, and well-stocked as well. Now the bad part - the service department employees in this shop are cocky, rude, and generally unhappy. Getting their attention is usually a chore. Once they start talking, they act annoyed and flippant, and if you get a chance to hang around the shop while theyre working on your bike youll hear a lot of complaining about customers and each other. These guys are competent techs and they do good work, however they act like they hate their customers (or maybe just me). I always keep coming back to this shop because its close to my home and carries my brand, but Ive learned my lesson 10 times over: drive to another suburb and spend your money at a shop that wants your business. If you go to Village CycleSport, prepared to be frustrated.

I was given an inexpensive bike for my birthday because I mentioned I wanted to start riding a bike to get myself into shape. My mother in-law bought me a bike through Amazon, and when I received it the front wheel was out of true. I brought my wheel into Village Cycle Sport today and was greeted kindly by a few different employees, and paid only $18 for them to straighten my wheel. Everyone was super polite until it came time to checkout. A woman who worked there handed me my repaired wheel along with the comment "Come see us sometime when you are ready to buy a real bike!" WTF? Really? Because I have a $200 bike and not a $1000 bike Im somehow riding an imaginary bike? That condescending and at elitist attitude was enough to turn me off of this bike shop. The real kicker is that my wife and I both are looking at Electra Townie comfort bikes...an $800+ sale that they certainly lost!

Havent been in here for about 12 years since I bought my trek from here (seems like theyre big on treks even today). Since then, theyve reorganized the service center (cleaner and organized). I cant speak for sales, but the service guys seem to know what theyre doing. I messed up my derailleurs (tuning), and they agreed to do an overhaul for $25 (reasonable). Turns out my issue with the chain slipping was a bent derailleur, which they managed to fix without replacing. They also adjusted the brakes without charging. Took them 3 days to get to it (backlog?), but they did finish it when they promised (they print out a sheet when they promise it to be done by, which has the day and time). They can call you, or email you when the work is finished. I would at least go back for service, prices on new bikes didnt seem bad, all quality bicycles (no off-brand)

Outstanding bike shop that caters to the full spectrum of bicycles, from juniors first bike with training wheels, to dads carbon fibre criterim racer, and moms tri bike. If you understand the difference between Shimano Ultegra and SRAM Red, then this is the shop for you. If you dont understand the difference, then go see them anyway, as the shop only sells quality bikes that will not fall apart or rust at the first hint of actual use. The mechanics have been keeping my Trek Madone in like-new condition (despite the +6,000 miles I ride each year) taking care of routine maintenance like cable and chain replacements and more difficult problems like re-lacing carbon wheels. I have checked out almost every other shop in Chicagoland, but Village CycleSport always gets my business.

I asked for an opinion on a tubless tire when a mechanic told me he didnt run tubless. I stated I ran tubless and found it convenient to never have a pinch flat at which point I was told he stopped getting pinch flats when he learned how to ride a bike its a fad and something about them not having luck sealing them up. Here is how it should have went. I dont run tubless I still like tubes, so I couldnt give an opinion on tubless setups Maybe followed by your such a superior mechanic because you can manage to mount tubless and this must mean I am inferior I kid, but not about my negative review. I give them 2 stars because they did have my part.

Bought my first road bike (Felt Z85) here on 4th of July sale. The employees are very friendly and have a good attitude. I personally dealt with Vince during my purchase, he was very friendly and very knowledgeable. I had many questions and concerns for my first purchase and both Vince and Linda gave me good advice and were patient. The service is also great. Brake and gear adjustments are free of charge, Brian is a great mechanic. He knows his stuff and is always helpful and very friendly. Overall, the best service I have seen from a bike shop.
