This is a great shop for discount gear and friendly advice. That being said I have never had worse results with getting my bike tuned. I have a few bikes and upon purchasing my newest bike I decided to give this place a try. After riding the bike for a few weeks I took note of all the issues I needed addressed and gave them my bike. The turnaround was about two weeks and upon recepit of my bike nothing I asked to be fixed had been repaired. After returning the bike to them, it was returned shortly after and once again all the issues were not fixed. At this point they had been in possesion of my bike more than I had been. I decided to take the bike to a competitor for a free checkup, without informing them it had been recently tuned. Their lead mechanic gave me a report saying it needed a full tune and seemingly had not received one in a few years , even though I had brought it directly from the shop at the bike depot. Although the competitor may have been trying to get some extra money from me the performance of the bike would lead me to believe his report to be accurate. So go to the bike depot for nice folks and discount gear, but beware tuneups and make sure all the things you pay for are done as my bike clearly was skipped over in the service department.

Learn your bike! I bike 4 miles each way to get the stellar treatment I can depend on every time Ive needed their expertise. On a busy saturday the staff fit me into their schedule to let me learn and tweak my bike, volunteers devoted their time and energy to explain, over explain and over answer any questions or curiosities I had and let me take the responsibility of upgrading and maintaining by own bike. I found quality, discount parts for my sole mode of transportation, fit the parts onto my bike as instructed and found Id started to strip the thread installing a new pedal. I asked the head mechanic that day and he took 20 minutes out of his time with a special tool to rethread the fitting for my pedal. After a corrected installation he too verified that I had properly installed all the necessary parts. The staff here are fun, knowledgable, and handy people who enjoy helping young and old learn, repair, and manage their bikes and maintain a consistent biking lifestyle.

Horrible experience. I went in with a old Schwinn with gears that kept slipping. I was waiting for them to tell me the bike wasnt worth fixing. Instead he said I needed a new bottom bearing. I came back the next day for their fix it yourself hours. I replaced the bottom bearing but that didnt solve the slipping gears. "Oh, its your bracket." Replaced that, still no good. "Oh, its your chain." Replaced that, still no good. $50 later and they say this that and the other thing needs to be replaced. By now I was clearly frustrated at which point their "volunteer" started yelling at ME for being inpatient and have a bad attitude. So I paid for the parts I had already put on and left. Horrible diagnosing of the issue, rude and unhelpful staff, and the bike is no better than it was when i went in. Will never go back to this place.

So I went today to fix my bike with help (needed a new tube and my brakes adjusted). Tube was no problem - Ive done that many times before, but where I needed the help was with the brakes. The book that they gave me didnt help me (Im more of a explain and/or show me, than read it kind of person). Once he explained and showed me how to adjust it, I was good to go. Very knowledgeable, very helpful, both in person and on the phone. I would highly recommend them if you need your bike fixed and want to do it on your own to save some money.

My daily rider, a 25 year old Bridgestone MB-1 needed overhauled after commuting 12-15 miles / day for the past 3 years. Ive had Chocolate Spoke and Velosoul work on my bike before and I am impressed with both of these shops. I read about bikes together and because of their mission or teaching a skill and helping put old bikes back on the road I figured Id give them a shot. Im glad I did. Nate, also a Bridgestone rider, took great care of me and I essentially have a new bike. I am very impressed with the quality of work done!

Excellent community-led bike shop! They have a big selection of used components that you can buy, and their fix-your-bike hours are great. I took my 70s Fuji bike to work on a failing derailleur, and the staff was very helpful in teaching me how to do the repairs on my own. I only paid for parts, and put in the full labor myself with their help. Best of all, I learned how to assess, fix, and adjust bike derailleurs. Highly recommend this bike shop!

I was impressed by how the management had responded to the negative reviews with explanations and offers to make good. This is a non-profit neighborhood bike shop and it definitely has a neighborhood feel. When I went in there were kids building their own bikes from scratch back in the shop. The attention and service I received was first rate and I left there extremely pleased and will happily return with more business.

Great place! Because all of their bikes are donated and refurbished, the selection varies. They were very helpful, knowledgeable and very patient. I got a great bike at a great price, with fantastic service! My parents came along for the experience, and they mentioned they will be back to get bikes from them in he near future.

By far the best bike shop Ive ever been. Not only are their parts incredibly cheap but you get to learn kinesthetically! For anyone that learns by doing this is the spot! Knowledgeable and highly energetic staff. Walked out with a fully tuned bike, got to learn by experience and a new bontrager SSR seat for 15 bucks!

Great local bicycle shop. The staff and volunteers are nice and knowledgeable. Not the typical bike snobs at other shops. Their service is a good price and they do professional work. They have excellent classes for learning how to fix bikes. They also provide bicycles to those in need. We need more shops like this.

Took my very inexpensive road bike in for a tune up before riding 100K on the Tour de Cure. They had the bike ready to go before they originally expected and it rode beautifully. After 100+ miles after the tune up, the bike is still super smooth, solid, and rides like a much more expensive bike.

Had two flat tires on a bike that was strictly from Europe. They fixed my bike within one hour for $15. Awesome experience this store. The Pepe are very nice and generous. Id highly reccomend this shop to anyone. Thanks again you guys for the smooth sailing services!

Terrific bike depot! Great way to support your community. Friendly, knowledgeable and simply cool staff. Ive interacted with staff members at both locations on several occasions and always walked away with my questions answered. And I bought a kick ass bike!!

I felt I received top rate service. Mike was the one that helped me. He spent lots of time helping me decide which bike fit me the best and even took time to make several adjustments on the bikes to help me out. The price of my bike was awesome as well.
