A good place to buy hard to find tube sizes and sometimes tools. Probably a good place to buy high end cycles. A terrible place for service and attitude. Unfortunately, its probably the easiest to access bike shop in the area. If a service guy tells you he didnt do a good repair job (but still charged you for it) because it was a "department store bike", you know hes not the greatest. When a service guy doesnt know anything about the type of bearings in your crank, because its not a brand they sell, you know hes not the greatest. There is some truth that department store bikes arent always assembled well and its a good idea to take one in to a bike shop for a tune up. I wouldnt recommend this shop for that purpose. It will cost a lot and not be in any better condition than you can do yourself. A qualified bike service guy should know what hes talking about, be able to tell you if something isnt repairable, and not rip you off.

So I walk in and immediately an associate walks up to me asking what he could do for me. So I explained to him that I needed to get my bike fixed but at the same time Im not looking to put a bunch of money into a bike that really isnt worth putting money into. So he understood, gave me great advise about my current bike, gave me VERY helpful information on different kinds of bikes for a near future purchase, and even managed to get my bike running again for free. **Now dont go in there thinking they will fix your bike for free. I had VERY minimum work done and given a free bolt. Something I definitely could have done myself. But the point is that I never felt like I was being treated as another customer or just another sale to them. I honestly felt like I made a new friend.... new friendS because the whole staff was so friendly. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone and everyone looking to get a new bike, fixing a bike, or advise.**

Have been going there for a few years and they never remember who I am. I have given them more chances to redeem themselves than they deserve. I bought a new rear wheel from them and kept getting flats and realized they didnt put any rim tape on the wheel. When I took it back to them they said, "Whoever sold that to you ripped you off." Not realizing I bought it from them. I bought a specialized tool from them for my bike that I had to return because the design of the tool was faulty and couldnt work under any circumstance. Just recently I went in to buy a new tire and the employee was rude and pushy and wouldnt listen to anything I was trying to explain to him about my bike. I ended up having to politely tell him to shut up because he wasnt listening. I didnt want to believe that they could be so rude and condescending to a repeat customer. They will not receive any more of my business.

The man i dropped it off with was kind and accepted my bike with no problems. Brought in for a tuneup and recieved it two weeks later. Upon pickup the man way too old to work in retail, is telling me the wheel is trued when both are not and proceeds to tell me " mongoose makes low end walmart things" well for you to be in a bike store and not realize there is a mid range model and it doesnt require attitude. Especiallt from some low level retail employee in their 50s. Some ginger at the register. So long story short, if you want to pay way too much to get nothing done and be insulted by some old guy in his own 50s wearing spandex living in his mothers basement, please be my guest. If not, do a quick search. Theres many bike shops within 30 minutes and will treat you way better without the insults and "high end cashiers"

By far the most unprofessional and horrible experience Ive had at a place of business. They changed my rear tube, and pumped it WAY to much, (I brought up this point multiple times during the process) They preceded to tell me that it was fine and that my tires are meant to look like they are going to pop. Okay fine, youre the "experts". I took my bike for a ride around the building, I DIDNT MAKE IT AROUND THE BUILDING BEFORE THE TIRE EXPLODED. It ruined my rim, and I carried my bike inside, 5 minutes after they pumped up my tires, on THEIR request. I then was given a $175 quote for a new rim, and they refuse to cover a single dollar. I will be taking my money elsewhere, your mechanics are a joke, and from the reviews, Im not the only one who thinks that.

I walked in twice and was helped out in a decent manner but there is too much pressure for me to buy and they will only give you attention if you look like a potential customer, otherwise they brush you off. If they work on their service, it would become a great place to get bikes at decent prices. Real example was when I was being helped and another man came through the store and wanted to talk about bikes, the employee that was helping me started talking about that man and said something like, "what a waste of time, hes not going to buy anything, he just wants to talk". When I heard that, I lost my intention to buy from there. If you like service with an attitude, youll be just fine here.

Very poor service! My girlfriend bought a road bike there in march 2011, she has had problems with one of the shifters, the bike only has 250 miles on it,we returned it to the store right after thanksgiving to have them look at the problem with the shifter, they want us to pay for the labor for them to send the shifter back for waranty, the bike is a lemon, if we are having problems with it already, the service dept manager will not contact my girlfriend to keep her up to date on what is happening with things, the service is very poor, will not buy from them again!

I walked into Treads with a wheel that Id recently replaced a few spokes on that looked like an S. The guys were up to their ears in work but said theyd see what they could do. I was expecting an answer like, "well have it for you in a few days," but instead I got, "give us 15 minutes." When the guy came back, the wheel was perfect, and all total I paid about $10. These guys are professional, they like their jobs, and they love bikes. Ill be returning to support them. Solid bike shops, like quality coffee shops, are a dying breed, and they need our help.
