I am officially done doing business with SWB. I had been a customer for over 2 years now and refuse to continue being treated like I’m their problem. I’ve noticed for some time that the customer service or even just common respect for your customers has been slipping. I called a few weeks back just to get an idea on cost and time frame to replace a broken spoke and the person who answered the phone gave me attitude as if I were bothering him. Not only did he come off with an attitude but a seemingly high price and a two day wait just to replace a spoke...? I had previous issues with how long anything takes and their 2-4 day turnaround on basic work… which is why I started calling around. For the spoke, I called the Trek store in Avondale and not only was I given a lower price, but same day fix and the guy was ten times nicer and friendlier. Well, I gave SWB one last chance to keep me as a customer and took my cycle in the other day because of a noise I was getting. One tech took it outside and looked at it or whatever, came back in and yelled out to me, “do you have chain lube?” I replied yes and his response was “use it”. Then he mumbled something as he walked back to close the door and I guess end the conversation. He completely ignored me and left me feeling like a complete idiot. Absolutely no respect and I have never been treated like this by any business I’ve been to. There were two other guys working and no customers. Now I see why. Next year I’m upgrading to probably a Trek Madone road cycle and will definitely NOT ever use this store again. My loyalty and business is going to Trek in Avondale. I suggest to anyone not to be another problem for this store because apparently they don’t like customers.

I took my bike to Southwest bikes about a month ago for a tune up, during the tune up they recommended that they “overhaul” my headset and my seat post. I agreed, they came highly recommended from my cycling club. My first problem was when I was leaving the store I noticed that they had damaged a decal on the chain stay, when bringing this to their attention they told me to contact the manufacturer and they would get me a new one (the manufacturer for my bike in no longer in business) the only replacement I was able to find they would have to reprint the decal set for $30. After getting my bike home my headset was very loose, the headset had about an 1/8th inch of travel when rocking the bike forward and back. After not being able to adjust the headset myself and receive results I was happy with I took it to another bike shop, they found that ¾ of the ball bearings in the top bearing of my headset were missing and the lower was “blown out” after replacing this I told them the bike had just left southwest bikes. They found my chain badly stretched which I specifically asked southwest bikes about and they said it was fine. The bike shop that fixed my headset also informed me that all of the shift adjustment thimbles were maxed out meaning that southwest did not adjust any of the cables just used the adjustment thimbles. I know a lot of people that highly recommend southwest bikes and maybe I had that one in a million bad experiences but they will never touch one of my bikes again.

I lucked out when I came in here for the first time looking for a bike -- although they dont usually have used bikes, they had a used one that was exactly what I was looking for. Their service was great, they answered all my amateur questions, let me test ride a couple bikes to make sure I was happy. After asking about bike racks, Mike even came out and looked at my car and made recommendations on how we could get a bike rack to work on my Scion xB. We also brought in my husbands bike the next day. (We had gotten the tubes replaced just 6 months earlier at Performance Bikes but they were flat again 2 weeks later.) The guys at SW immediately saw that the dried out tires was the problem. They ended up repairing the tires, tubes, as well as break pads and cables which had been worn down to barely functional. They were not pushy at all about the repairs and very up front about prices. When we went to pick it up we brought some handlebar tape that we were hoping theyd put on for us, to find that theyd already put some new tape on without us asking! Nice people, awesome service, reasonable prices. Will definitely be back for a bike rack and any tune ups or maintenance.

From the moment I walked in the door - - - the people that worked there were very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They did the bike repair, answered all my questions, and helped me pick out affordable accessories for my college students bike. I wanted to make sure that she was safe while riding the bike. They informed me that is a law to have a front headlight at ASU or it could be an $80 ticket. The clip on rear electric reflector can be clipped on pants, backpack, etc. It can be used while walking on the sidewalk at night. Lots of activity going on campus. They were affordable and extremely helpful. It is a great place to do business. I highly recommend it.

Ive purchased 4 bikes from them over the period 3 years. Excellent customer service and fair prices. We purchased a new bike for my youngest daughter. SWB had to order the bike because they didnt have the color she wanted in stock. We ordered it Saturday and school started that next Wednesday. They didnt make any promises they would be able to get it and built in time as it would need to come from California. They got the bike in time and put together. They go beyond a typical bike shop. They have a customer for life. I strongly recommend them rather you need a cruiser or a serious mountain bike.

I purchased a new Trek bike mountain bike off the floor a year ago from SW Bicycles and was very pleased with the experience. I had looked at bikes and service at another bike shop in Surprise before deciding on SW Bicycle. It was night and day how I was treated, the shop in Surprise, two (2) young men, treated me like some old guy that was just upsetting their daily routine. The man at SW Bicycles was interested in helping me select a bike that fit me and in my price range. I have taken the bike in for a tune-up and was very satisfied with the service.

I just bought a mountain bike from SWB. There customer service and knowledge is way beyond other bike shops that I have visited. Mike was wonderful. I told him that I was looking for a womens bike, but after trying on out he noticed that I have longer arms and recommended that I try a mens bike. Good choice. After a few adjustments and a test drive I was sold. Mike even gave us a map of some other trails around town that we werent familiar with. We should always support our local businesses and I dont think I will ever go anywhere else.
