First off let me say that the management there was very helpful in trying to fix my issues with their service. And there is where the good ends. I had 3 bikes "tuned up" and serviced there. I live 5 miles from the shop and to pick them up as I could find a ride there, and ride them home. The first bike I picked up had a flat tire, and the back tire was on crooked. Amateur hour. After complaining to the manager, I found they had missed some some other things as well. The 2nd bike I picked up was fine, but then again, they really didnt need to do anything to it besides the "tune up", so not much praise can given there. I just went to pick up the 3rd bike today, and after riding 2 blocks towards home, the whole back wheel came off the drop outs. None of my gearing was shifting correctly either. I spent $200 (should have been $300, but was given a discount due to the first bike not being done correctly). Im truly wondering what I paid for. I have been a long time customer of Cactus bikes, but after being convinced to try these guys out, and due to convenience of location, I gave them a shot. Big mistake. They did offer to let me drop the bike back off and let them try again, but I would rather spend another $50 somewhere else then let these guys touch my bike again. The bike mechanic was very rude, and I witnessed him also being rude to another customer while picking up my 2nd bike. Again, the management was great, but they really need to take a look at who they having working in service, before they lose more customers. Thankfully I was on the sidewalk when the back tire fell off, and not in the bike lane, as this could have had a tragic result. If I cant count on my wheels being put back on correctly and aired up, I surely cant count on anything else being done properly when it comes to the service side. My advice - save your money and time and go somewhere else.

Great service! Okay prices. Great sales! Every time Ive gone in to Performance Bikes in Chandler (Ray and Kyrene), Ive been met with great service and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Only once did I have a real gripe with some products, and Lance, one of the managers, quickly gave me new product for free without argument and even had it reinstalled for free (thicker tubes, the thinner ones werent holding up for me). Ive spent a lot of money there (for me, 1500 is a lot), so I tend to take a very critical eye and watch for everything. Once, during a flat repair, the back tire had a bulge after the repair; I spotted it and the tech had it fixed in 3 minutes. Thats the only time Ive felt that care wasnt taken in a repair. In the 5 months Ive had the bike Ive put hundreds and hundreds of miles on it (Fuji Roubaix 3.0) and so Ive had to bring it in for repairs around 5 times. 3 times for frequent flats, once for suspicious shifting, and then today I went and got a full repair and tune-up, with a new crank, new chain, and lube to go with it. One time I went in for a flat repair and they reinstalled my computer, tuned my derailleur, and tuned my brakes for free to go with it. I was very impressed. Today, Mike, the other manager and a great, great tech, had the crank and chain repair in and out in under an hour and it rode wonderful on the test ride. I really like Mike and Lance, theyre very understanding and will work with you on repairs and cost. The other commenter - the ex-employee - is right: go here for the sales, you wont be disappointed.

Went there for a MTB and saw one that I liked. They didn’t have it in stock so they told me to order it on their "red phone". Since they didn’t have the size I wanted in stock I had to pay for shipping. Took about 15 days to get the bike to Performance. They sent me an email saying the bike was ready, went down there waited for 15 minutes to find out that it wasn’t. Had to wait another 2 days for the build. Then I get a call saying your bike is done but theres a scratch in the frame. I went down to the shop, waited for about 15 minutes before I could get someone’s attention and then checked out the bike. They offered a gift card or to re-order the bike to compensate for the scratch. I was tired of waiting and wanted to start riding so I took the gift card deal and left. The next week my bike went on sale for $75 cheaper then I paid. Went to the shop, waited again, this time only 10 minutes and then they gave me some lame excuse that because my bike was a "low inventory product" it didn’t fall into the 90 day best price thing. I called the 1-800 number and was able to get my money back without arguing or waiting at all, that was the only good part of this whole debacle of a purchase. If you have read this review please check around to other shops as you may find better prices, better service, and better selection.

I bought my cruiser here a couple of years ago and at the time they offered a lifetime flat repair for $25 with a new purchase, I took it. The salesman entered my phone number in their computer for reference. "Thats all we need" he said. When you bring your bike in just give us your phone number and well take care of it. I brought the bike in for a flat repair and guess what? They dont have a lifetime flat repair any longer. They said that program was from the previous ownership who they bought out and there isnt any record of it. The problem with that is, the sign on the building when I made my purchase said PERFORMANCE. I asked the employee to enter my phone number into their computer and my name came up and the bike model purchased but nothing about the flat repair program. The fishy thing about this whole thing is why is my name still in their database with the model and date of purchase if supposedly they hadnt bought out the business yet. You can also tell that some of the reviews have been written by management or employees. They all start out the same." If youre in the market you should definately...." Its definately over and over and they all sound like a sales ad.

In case youre wondering, my favorite sales associate, Samantha, works here at Performance. And if you ask her, shed say that Im her favorite customer (unless shes just patronizing me). Ive been here on many occasions, and am always greeted upon entering the premises. I purchased one of their bikes (Scattante is their brand name) during a huge sale, and walked away with a rather nice deal. Another great bonus is the Performance club, where you get 10% back on anything you buy, towards store merchandise. They have a great selection of biking shoes, including my current favorite brand: Sidi. These shoes fit like a glove, but thats probably because they are crafted from fine Italian leather. And they stand by their product. I returned a defective headlight, and Nate (whose face recently became acquainted with a mountain trail) traded me up to a better item at no charge. And if you happen to catch Glenn, ask to see his urban assault bike. Very impressive and not for the faint of heart.
