THIS DEALER LACKS INTEGRITY. EXTREMELY UNETHICAL. DO NOT TRUST CAR WEB. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. READ REVIEW BELOW. Two days ago – 24JAN17 - my wife and I traveled from D.C. to Car Web in Fredericksburg, VA to test drive and most likely buy a 2009 Honda Element (VIN: 5J6YH287X9L005205) Upon arrival, the dealers were very pleasant, answering our questions and providing us with plenty of space to evaluate/test drive the vehicle. After the test drive, we entered into negotiations for the price of the vehicle. The internet asking price was $14,697. Fred, who was the sales manager, told my wife that he would reduce the price of the vehicle to $13,300, plus taxes, tags, fees, etc. Fred then told us that “he owned the car at $13,700,” which means that he was willing to take a $400 loss to sell us the vehicle. When I asked him how taking a $400 loss made any business sense, he didn’t answer the question directly. Instead, he talked about all the basic maintenance that was completed before the vehicle was up for sale. Essentially, he avoided the question. Completely avoided it. After a few minutes, my wife and I went outside the office, took another look at the vehicle, discussed what we wanted to do, and made our way back inside to complete negotiations at the quoted price of $13,300. Right before we went back in, Fred came outside, and my wife asked him, “How much did you pay for the vehicle?” Fred brought us inside to show us what they paid, only to conveniently be pulled from the office by his brother. We waited for approx. 5 minutes. After a few minutes of waiting, Fred and his brother came back in and told us there was no deal. They weren’t going to “reduce the price of the vehicle,” and they weren’t going to honor the previously quoted price of $13,300. When I asked why, Fred’s brother said, “There is another dealership in the area who is willing to pay more for the car than you are.” I voiced my frustration, and told them these types of business practices were highly unprofessional and problematic. With a smug face and a sarcastic tone, Fred and his brother said, “Sorry.” We walked away. We were disappointed. Frustrated. Wronged. Treated very poorly. As of 26JAN17 at 7:55 P.M., the 2009 Honda Element (VIN: 5J6YH287X9L005205) is still for sale. Apparently, the dealership that offered to purchase the vehicle at a higher price never purchased the vehicle. My wife and I are still trying to figure out why we were treated this way by Fred and Car Web. Why did they tell us they would sell us the vehicle for $13,300, only to go back on their word? More than that, why would they lie about a dealership wanting to buy the vehicle? Were they trying to get us to counter the dealership’s offer? Whatever the reason, it testified to the fact that Fred, his brother, and CAR WEB are a business that has NO INTEGRITY. Don’t be fooled by their inventory, smiles, and laid back sales tactics. CAR WEB IS DISHONEST & SHOULD NOT BE TRUSTED. RECOMMEND SPENDING YOUR TIME AND MONEY AT ANOTHER DEALER. GIVE YOUR TRUST TO ANOTHER BUSINESS.

I purchased an 09 mercury mountaineer in November. I understand that when purchasing a non-certified vehicle that there may be things wrong with the vehicle at first. Not a problem. The sales team promised to fix some issues with the vehicle. It was all part of the deal. I live about an hour and half away from this dealership. I did not expect to return more than once to have the issues resolved. Sadly, I wasted at least 3 Saturdays returning to have some issues repaired. And these were easy issues at that!!! I was promised a transmission service, a/c recharge, heated seat repair, a replacement of a plastic piece, and the replacement of the tire pressure sensors. The a/c and plastic piece were fixed. After 3 visits neither the heated seat nor the tire pressure sensors were fixed. I had to finally take the car to my mechanic for the tire pressure sensors. CARWEB did cut me a check to have this issue resolved. The heated seat is not fixed to this day. Some other things to mention. They tried to sell me a vehicle with fresh front tires and bald rear tires. We agreed that I would pay for one tire and they would pay for the other. Fine. They did not put the same brand tire on the rears as the fronts. Different tread patterns are not a good thing for an AWD vehicle. Also, the car drove with a vibration. This shop couldnt even balance tires correctly. They claimed they took it to another tire shop, but this was completely unacceptable. My tire shop resolved the issue by re-rotating and balancing the tires which came out of my pocket. A month later I noticed that the transmission was leaking. Supposedly CARWEB did the transmission service. If this is the case, I blame them for the leak. It ended up needing a new drip pan. My extended warranty covered this thankfully. But here we are 7 months later and 10,000 miles later, and I put my car in for an oil change and to check the front brakes. Needless to say, CARWEB said they put new brakes on the truck. They did. However, the incompetent mechanics put the cheapest brakes they could find on the vehicle, and didnt grease the calipers correctly. The front brakes were shot, and I had to have them replaced by my mechanic which again came out of my pocket. The calipers were only closing on the inside, and wore the inside pads to nothing. After my mechanic did his magic, the difference is night and day. I will never deal with CARWEB again, and I will never recommend to anyone to buy from this company. And if you feel that you need to buy from this company, do yourself a favor and record what’s wrong with the vehicle, get them to come down on the price so you can take it to your personal mechanic to do the work for you. Do not let them work on your vehicle. I will say that I absolutely love this truck. I just wish I never had to deal with these headaches. This is not good business. I felt as if I was mistreated and lied to.

Summary: Started off fine, then when time came to get a quote, was belittled, pressured into buying, and insulted for an hour and a half despite trying to leave. Be sure to ask what you are signing, because they will try to get you! And pay attention to what they say, because they go back on what they initially said about the car. Better yet, just go to a proper dealership, and stay away! Full length review: Initially, everything started off well. I went to test drive the car and they were nice enough to let me bring my dog since it was a bit of a trip for me to see the car I was interested in. After driving the car, things went down hill. I told them I had concerns with the brakes, and they "explained" to me it was just rust coming off. I tried to politely disagree, but they vehemently expressed I was wrong. We then went to talk about financing. I wanted to see what I was looking at price-wise. This is where I had the worst experience. They tried to get me to sign a piece of paper that didnt expressly state what I was agreeing to with my signature. I asked why I was signing and what it meant, and they said it meant I was locking in the down payment, price of the car, and trade-in value. I told them I didnt feel comfortable given the test drive I had and the issues I had either the safety of the car. It then came down to a back and forth of negotiating a price to lock down when all I wanted was an estimate. The owner or manager eventually came in to try to talk me into it. They both took turns "mansplaining" why I was wrong and being silly when it was such a great deal -- they kept questions my line of reasoning over and over, never once accepting it. I have never felt so attacked and belittled. They were playing games by saying they would drop down the price and re-evaluate my cars value if I would then agree to buy the car. I told them they should have down a thorough job with inspecting both cars to begin with to give a fair price. The whole interaction became grimy with two grown men trying to justify how nice they are and different from other car salesmen and they only want whats best for me and for me to be safe. If you keep having to express how honest, nice, and different you are, especially, unsolicited, then maybe you really arent, especially when you really are try to bully me into buying a car. And to go back to the issue with the brakes, after initially saying that their mechanic looked at it and said it was just rust, they then came back and said I was right, and something was wrong with the brakes after all. They held me there for that interrogation style questioning on pricing for an hour and half. A complete waste of all of our time. I tried to excuse myself but they were persistent. They then joked about charging me for watching my dog even though when I left, she was tied to a moped. Buyers beware!
