From start to finish, our experience buying our 5th Subaru at The Frederick Motor Company (TFMC) was flawless. It all started with a phone call inquiring about model availability. As we live nearly 2 hours from Frederick, MD, we didnt want to drive all the way there only to find the car we were looking for wasnt in stock. Just about every other dealer we have ever called about inventory has given us the runaround, trying to convince us to buy what they want to sell. Upon calling TFMC, a manager answered the phone! He gave us a NO-BS answer confirming they had the model we wanted in stock, and ensured that we would have a positive customer experience and that it would be worth the drive to visit the showroom and look at the car in person. His no-pressure tone and manner of speaking gave us the confidence to head on down. When we arrived, we were introduced to Brand Specialist Rick Kleinota in Sales. He had already pulled up the car we wanted to look at and was ready to take us on a testdrive! What a pleasant surprise - no waiting around or bait-and-switch tactics! He patiently and thoroughly covered all of the features and allowed us the freedom to drive long enough to get acclimated to the car. Once back, we were convinced the 2015 Subaru Outback was the car for us, but had decided we wanted it in a different color. Instead of trying to force the one that was in stock on us, Rick and his manager patiently walked us through the ordering process (thats how in-demand the Outback is!). We confirmed our selections and then came to the pricing part of the process. To our amazement, there were no back-and-forth games! Rick and his manager explained the components of the total cost one by one and offered us a no-haggle price that was very competitive! How refreshing! We were so relieved at how smoothly everything went (unlike previous experiences) and placed our order. Rick explained our car would take about 4-8 weeks to be built and arrive at the dealership. To our surprise, it only ended up taking 4 weeks! Throughout that month, Rick religiously gave us weekly updates and ensured that we understood where the car was in the build-process. When the car arrived, he promptly notified us and we arranged a pickup date. When the day came, there were no surprises. The car was exactly what we ordered and was washed, gassed up, and ready to roll! Finally, it was time to sign the paperwork - one of the most dreaded parts of the typical car-buying experience. Not at TFMC. We were in the finance office within 15 minutes (no long wait) and were done in no time. The finance manager was super nice! He did offer us optional protection packages and informed us as to their benefits, but didnt try to cram them down our throat. Yet again, everyone in the process was a consummate professional. We had an awesome experience at The Frederick Motor Company! It restored our faith in Subaru as a brand (we had had a terrible experience at a different store with our previous car), and proved that car buying can be fun and hassle-free! We love our new Outback and highly recommend asking for Brand Specialist Rick Kleinota when considering your next Subaru or Ford!

Very sketchy people here. Brought my new car into service under warranty at the Subaru dealer. Spoke with the guy at the desk..Lets call him George. So i tell George im having a problem with my transmission not switching gears. I say i want warranty work and he says "ok thats fine." I also informed him i had an aftermarket shifter in the car. He told me that was no problem and theyll look at it. I told him to call me if they need to do anything to it. He said "ok, of course." He then took my car without having me sign any work-order or anything. I assumed that since it was warranty work this may be routine. I then got a call later that afternoon saying my car was complete and i owed about $300. I said it was warranty work so it should be free. George then informed me that the shifter had caused the issue and they fixed it easily with no needed parts or anything. I raised the point that i hadnt signed any work orders and i asked him to inform me if it wasnt covered under warranty or any work needed to be done. He then told me he would break my car again if i didnt want to just pay the money up front. I tried speaking to a manager about this but it was at the end of the day. The next day i finally got a call from a manager. Lets call her Ashley. So Ashley tells me that she will cut the price in half since they "Diagnosed" the problem for me. I didnt bring my car in for any diagnosis. I brought it in under warranty. She was extremely rude when i was trying to reason with her but it only took a few minutes for her to say "ok fine the total is Zero come get your car and never come back to this dealership again." I contacted Subaru of America about this to see if this is standard practice for a warranty service denial. He said that individual mechanics or service writers cant even make this decision to deny a warranty claim like that, and furthermore, if they do so, the customer does not owe anything just for bringing their car in to get denied. Id like to give these people the benefit of the doubt but there are too many red flags here for this to be just a random accident: -Promises to inform before work...Does work anyway -Doesnt use work-order to authorize work -Blames customer for this and threatens to break car again -Manager is rude but backtracks extremely quickly If they really thought i owed the money i dont see them just saying "ok you dont owe the money...." I respect them for fixing it in the end. but they still threatened to break my car again and told me to never come back. So tell me if this sounds like a place you want working on your car. Luckily, ive worked in the car industry before so i knew they were full of it all along. What gets me is how many elderly people or just non-car type people they probably screw over in this fashion. They had me almost feeling like i was in the wrong even though i knew from the start they were wrong.

2014 Ford Focus electric After hearing that Ford was offering a hefty incentive on Ford Focus Electric models, my wife and I started looking at local dealerships for inventory. We started by checking with a dealership very close to us who did not have a vehicle and were unable to get one in from other dealer stock. In our research we came across The Frederick Motor Company and saw that they had a white FFE in stock, which is what we wanted. I applied for a loan with our local credit union, and at the same time was put in touch with Roberto at The Frederick Motor Company. Within a 24 hour period, Roberto had ballpark numbers for us, without even seeing our trade in, and had us approved for 0% APR through Ford Motor Credit. This all took place on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Friday, we drove down to the dealership with our trades. Roberto greeted us outside and we saw that our car was already prepped and waiting for us. While we signed some standard paperwork and took the FFE for a test drive our trades were evaluated. We ended up receiving far more than we expected for our trades. Roberto was very friendly and did everything he could to get us a good deal. We were at the dealership for roughly 2 hours (mostly to ensure that the car had a full charge). Roberto spent a great deal of time with us setting up our MyFordMobile account and showing us various features of the vehicle while it was charging. Roberto went out of his way to try and find a charging station between the dealership and our house because the trip was close to the charge range of the vehicle. Unfortunately, there was not a charging station between the dealership and our house, but we ended up not needing a charge to get home anyway. Overall, this was the smoothest car buying experience we have ever had, and we would certainly recommend The Frederick Motor Company and Roberto Lopez to any friends and family in the market for a new Ford or Subaru.
