I really wanted to keep in my frustration with my Park Place Volvo experience but with everything that happened, I believe consumers should be aware. To make things short, I personally think Joe Barbee could care less about customers concerns and Germaine, was right there beside him. With the information I received and the discussions we had, it makes me wonder how many of their other customers have missed out on hundreds...maybe thousands of dollars worth of savings. After multiple visits and multiple offers it was obvious this dealership loves to flip numbers, withhold information from customers, and pull every last dollar from customer without them seeing. If I went back to Park Place Volvo I would not be able to work with Joe Barbee and possibly Germaine again. Some of the things Joe said were "Ive had engineers try to figure out leases and they just cant" or "This is a take it or leave it deal at this price. You must lease to get this price. My preowned director says this the ABSOLUTE lowest he will go because he has already made arrangements to put it back in loaner status." Germaine at one point even stated he couldnt sell me the car at my asking price because he would be loosing significant money on the car and that his boss would not approve of the sale. I was asking a price at market value. During my last visit to the dealership I spoke with Joe for maybe 5 minutes and the rest of the time he gave me to Germaine. It was obvious Joe didnt want to sit and talk or even care about my needs/concerns. Instead he went and socialized with another sales consultant. I sat with Germaine and we discussed the deals that were on the table and how the numbers werent adding up. In the end Germaine finally brought out the Dealer Detailed Invoice Accounting Sheet. (or whatever name they give it) Please be aware, what they show you on quote sheet and the desk computer isnt the full detail. Whats on that sheet from the Finance Office is all the detail and Joe didnt want to be there when he brought it out. Germaine even stated they dont like to bring that sheet out to show customers. I guess if you dont like transparency I can see why you dont like to. As an update: The vehicle is their only S60 Cross Country on the lot. The cars VIN# is YV4612UM1G2000150. When I made my first intro visit to the store the vehicle had an advertised sticker price of $37,983 hanging in the car and on various websites. Before I went in again, after the 1st offer, they had changed the advertised price on various websites to $36,994 . I also noted this change when I went in. This same vehicle, which is still on their lot, now has an online advertise price of $38,994 . Regardless of what they try and tell you, nowhere on any advertisement or car listing does it say the advertised price includes the current incentives. To add, this vehicle also has more miles on it then they advertise online. With all these price switches and blatant dishonesty, I hope no one in the city is fooled by them and over pays for a niche vehicle like this one...let alone any Volvo vehicle. If you are a consumer that is interested in this vehicle I just talked about, dont let them lease it to you for anything over a price of $32.5K and dont let them even try to sell it to you for anything above $34K. If you lease the vehicle watch the money factor/Buy factor. Supposedly that is the lowest they said they could go which again, I think is far from the truth. I didnt care that I didnt get the car but I dont want to see this same situation happen to other consumers down the road.

Starting in May I made multiple appointments with a Park Place Volvo Sales Consultant, Leslie, to check out the xc90 show room model, build my pre order, place my deposit, appraise my trade-in and finally to take possession of my vehicle. I never showed up unannounced or unscheduled, and multiple times my sales consultant called or emailed last minute requesting that I postpone my previously schedule appointments. I should have seen that as the first sign of lacking customer service at this dealership. Next issue was when I came in to finalize my trade-in allowance, the finance manager, Germaine, running the appraisal made multiple mistakes on the trade-in trim level and options, which I had to point out. He even logged the vehicle as a V6 instead of V8 even though it is clearly badged according. At this point I knew I was going to have to double and triple check all numbers associated with the sale as this was a clear sign of questionable business tactics. Even after we finally cleared all of his mistakes he offered far less than the vehicle trade in estimates from all online sources. To avoid arguing I left the dealership and went straight to a car lot near my house, they immediately offered what the trade-in was worth even though I wasn’t buying anything from them, proving I was right about the trade value. Still not the end of the story, it gets worse from there, the day I showed up to take possession I sat in the lobby for an hour and twenty minutes, continually being told by Leslie and Germaine that they would be with me any minute. Finally the car I wanted was mine and I could be done with the incompetence at the dealership…so I thought. I took possession of the car over 5 weeks ago. It has only been in my possession and functioning for a full 7 days. It is now on its 3rd trip back to the service manager, John. It has multiple items missing from the vehicle that were shown in specs and owner’s manual when I placed my order, multiple software glitches of the information in the main display screen, AC fan levels not working, already a safety recall for airbag, and most important the supposed safety feature of automatic braking in order to avoid a collision made my car come to a complete stop on a highway when there was nothing in front on me. This scared the hell out of me, had it not been early in the morning, I would have certainly been rear ended. The service department doesn’t seem to be as advanced as the car, there have been multiple delays and more than one instance of the service manager providing me direction that directly conflicts with the direction provided from the manufacturer in the owner’s manual. I have zero faith that they will be able to get the in the condition that it was marketed to me as during my pre-order. In summary: Park Place Volvo doesn’t respect client’s time, they have ethically questionable financing members, they are not able to provide a vehicle in working condition as promised, and their service department so far has proven they are not able to make up for the vehicles issues. There has been no outreach from the general manager, which is appalling. No attempt at placating the anger caused by the gross inconveniences. There are too many other dealerships out there, do yourself a favor and avoid the headaches associated with this one.

Anthony Conrad is the man. I originally called Park Place Volvo along with 2 other Volvo dealers in DFW. The woman I spoke with initially said that they had no C30s on the lot and that she would do some checking and get back to me. Meanwhile, I talked with the other two dealers and was looking at buying a C30 soon. I hadnt quite found the C30 that I was looking for, and the other two dealers were pretty much telling me to just choose from what was available on the lot. So, I decided to give Park Place Volvo another try—a week later after no call back. I talked to Anthony Conrad, AKA "Conrad," and he told me that they had no 2012 C30s on the lot but that he would check around to see what was available for a dealer trade. He called me back within an hour or so. The first two cars he found were already taken, but then late the same day he found the exact car I was looking for. We had to wait until the next day to get a reply, but then Conrad called me to give me the good news that hed secured the car. I told him I was on my way to the dealership to sign papers. I found it amazing that Conrad was willing to work so hard for me when he knew I was talking to other dealers and when I hadnt even been to his dealership yet in person. When he was searching for cars he sent me emails and text messages to keep me updated. Amazing. Also, the offered price for the car was good for a dealer trade (something not on their lot), and I didn’t even feel like trying to talk them down anymore. Conrad sealed the deal, but the pleasant experience continued when we arrived at the dealership to sign papers. We were treated well, and even the financial part of the deal was pleasant--which most times, the financing department at dealerships doesnt have as much of a customer service feeling. Its all business and hard sells to get you to buy extra things you initial dont want. Well, not at Park Place Volvo. Im very pleased overall, and I am excited to pick my car up next week, as I purchased it still at port. Not a problem though because Park Place gave me an S40 loaner and a tank of gas for the week. I couldnt ask for more.
