Micro Center is a lovely little place without all the ads and blaring pop music from car stereos like you find at Best Buy. Sales people are generally knowledgeable in my experience. I had two guys arguing over where Apple RAM was last night. I really didnt need help finding the Apple section but one young chap asked me if I needed help and as I dont like to ignore people I told him I was looking for RAM for an iMac. He pointed me to the Apple section of the store. A slightly older young man who exuded cheesiness bordering on douchbaginess interjected and pointed me to the build your own PC section. There was a short argument between the two and I said I was going to the Apple section either way first. There it was...what I needed. The Apple guy put his little commission sticker on it. On my way out to find my roommate who was nerding out over keyboards I saw the first young man who I told, "Hey you were right it was in the Apple section". He didnt display much emotion other than a sly grin and brushing me off slightly embarrassed as I am a loud person. I told him "Hey a win is a win....you gotta take them when you can". I then asked him if he wanted to put his commission sticker on my packages of RAM. He told me that the Apple guy would get mad and he isnt allowed to sell back there. Understanding a bit of the hierarchy of a store like this (due to my 6 week tenure as a Best Buy employee when I was hard up for cash) I said fair enough. Then we ran into the cheesy guy again. Where he was all fake smiles, and bullshitting with my roommate over keyboards, harddrives and mice. Now this guy was laughing it up, carrying on and generally making my roommate feel like the best and funniest guy in the world....the truth is he is not. His personality does not bring out this behavior in anyone. I knew this guy was tugging his chain agreeing to whatever my roommate had to say. After an exhausting 10 minutes a keyborad was selected and this guy asked to put his dumb commission sticker on his HD, and keyboard (roommate decided the 5 mice he already has for his 2 computers were enough). My roommate allowed this because he is a pushover. I wasnt going to have this. I walked around the store with my roommate in tow for 5 minutes and couldnt find my savior...the young man who pointed me to the RAM I needed. We were about to check out when I saw him walk by and I exclaimed "THERE HE IS!". This of course got his attention and he timidly came up to us asking honestly if we needed help. I thanked him again for being helpful, not pushy and not putting on an act to make a sale. I then asked him to put his stickers over the other guys on my roommates items because Id like to encourage real honest interactions and this guy legitimately helped me. So after all that, I hate salespeople they are a necessary evil in places like this and you had a really good honest guy who was helpful and a pleasure to talk to. He deserves the commission where as cheese man does not. Keep hiring good folks, not sleazy ones!

Beyond Livid at the moment with the staff that works at this store, I Purchased an expensive laptop the Asus Rog G752 and the first unit I received had issues with the audio out the box it would sound like a radio with a lot of static, no big deal just update the drivers and should fix it right? nope. Returned to exchange the item no problem thinking maybe it was just a faulty laptop. So I get home (I live over an hour away from Micro Center) unbox the new laptop and do all necessary updates sound is working fine until I close the laptop for the first time, thats when the sound issues came back. after days trying to figure out the reason behind the sound issues with it I then turn to asus forums and other popular tech sites and there is a waterfall amount of people having the same exact issue that I was having and the problem is with the hardware it self, bummer decided to just exchange the laptop to a different brand because who wants to have to restart the computer to fix the sound every time you have to move the laptop. So I drive my back to micro center about a week later after I have been up there at least 3 other times within that time span to return this laptop and just get a refund or possible a completely different brand, I talk to the manager and no problem tell him the situation with the laptop and the truth comes out his words "Yeah we have notes that say its defective" yet you are still selling the product???? So I wasted over 6 hours driving back and forth for me to find out the product was faulty all along? So I call a manager again because I couldnt find a laptop I wanted to replace the bad one with as they didnt have any in stock anymore. Feeling defeated while talking to the manager his employee cuts me off and offers to help me find something just as good, and with much regret I didnt want to and really just wanted to get a refund but decided to give the store a third chance, so i tell him what Im looking for also tell him I already have upgrades purchased from the last laptop I returned, he sells me an msi laptop so I figured i would try it out, do the exchange drive an hour home unbox it and its not a laptop you can upgrade without voiding the warranty, feeling dull on the inside I drive back up there to get a refund, and Im told they dont have enough cash to refund me the purchase and that they could send me a check in the mail which would take a week...... Like any good store with good value and principles its always ruined by customer service, been shopping at micro center for over 10 years and today was the last day they will ever see a dime from me or my company. TL:DR Asus faulty laptops, 6 hours of driving back and forth, only for manager to tell me they know the laptops are faulty but sell them anyway, Asked for a refund and was told they would send me a check in the mail which would take a week or two, because they didnt have enough cash.

This place has gone down hill. Their prices are usually 20-40% over MSRP. They will rarely match internet prices. Ive been turned away over 5$ on a 250$ item. The lines are always long, and the employees show little care about getting customers out. The employees also have this ridiculous need to put a sticker on everything you buy. One specific time I was there I found a monitor I liked, it was the $1200 ASUS monitor. The whole time while looking, nobody, ever asked me if I needed help. I tried to find this item on the floor and of course was nowhere to be found. I found a guy and said I need this monitor. He went and got it. We put the item in our cart since this man just set it on the ground when he got back. After I loaded it up in the cart he starts to put a sticker on it. I asked him what the sticker was for. He said its because he helped me. I then enlightened him he didnt help me at all. He went and got a box only because I couldnt get it myself. I took his sticker off and gave it back to him and said "No Thanks". This man deserves absolutely no credit as he did the absolute minimum. Save yourself some time and dont go to this place. Dont support local stores that sell largely over MSRP. Also, there technical support, these are all the BARE MINIMUM licensed techs. They carry no MCSA, MCSE, certifications. They have the most basic A+ if that and shouldnt be trusted with your computer. Do yourself a favor and run as far as possible away from these guys. I honestly wish I could say better for these people. I am an IT Professional and carry the following Certifications from CompTIA, Microsoft, and Apple. MCSE: Server Infrastructure MCSA: Office 365 MCSA: Windows Server 2012 MCSA Windows Server 2008 ACMT (Apple Certified Macintosh Technician) Network+ Security+ A+ *****AS OF RECENTLY***** They have now blocked off the exit with an incredible amount of printer paper. You now have to walk all the way around through the customer check out just to leave. Not sure whos idea this was but this is downright dumb. Thanks for wasting even more of my time.
