What a great time! My wife and I took private kayaking lessons with Jeff and it was so much fun, not to mention a fantastic learning experience! Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE was all smiles and handshakes - but NOT in the "used car salesman" way. They seemed truly glad to have us and we felt welcome and appreciated by everyone we talked to. I had been in a kayak several times with no formal instruction and my wife had never been in one. Jeff took the time to make sure we understood the different types of kayaks and fitted us with what we needed. We were both very comfortable and safe with the "yaks that he put us in and we felt confident from the time we stepped in them up until it came time to get out, thanks to his thourough instruction. We will DEFINITELY be going back to rent some and take a cruise along Irondequoit creek! Thank you very much, to the staff of BayCreek!

These folks are really passionate about paddling, help organize races, and have more than one informal paddling group... in addition to their for-fee services. Oak Orchard is across the road and is bigger, but if you like the mom-and-pop feel, and try Bay Creek first. Understand that what you might take as a bit of snobishness is an unselfish concern-- buy a good boat and learn how to paddle it correctly, and youll be doing this the rest of your life. Buy a floppy plastic toy... or ignore the need to learn a good paddling technique... and youll probably end up growing mushrooms under it. Oddly, I signed up for their rough rider groups, but never heard back from them. Course, i didnt get my boat there (it is used). If you become a serious fitness paddler, youll definitely spend time here.

We put our kids into their Paddling Camp which included a day of learning to canoe, a day of kayak, a day of paddle board, and a field trip into the creek area off Irondequoit Bay. The kids loved the class and the only negative is that they are now badgering me for paddle boards! We followed that up by taking a kayak class there. Jeff, the instructor, was excellent. The class size was limited and while we have some experience kayaking the beginning class really shored up the fundamentals of not only operating the kayak but being responsible on the waterways. The entire staff were friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The biggest negative is trying to turn left onto Empire Blvd. when everything is done. It kind of makes you not want to leave at all.

My husband and I have been very pleased both times that we have visited Bay Creek. Earlier this summer we took the shuttle to Ellison Park and paddled back to Bay Creek in a tandem kayak. This past weekend we took the 90 minute Stand Up Paddleboarding lesson with Ken. He did an excellent job giving us a history of the sport and an on-shore introduction to several strokes. When we got out on the water, we both felt very comfortable and were able to successfully "SUP" on our first outing! Ken was great about checking in with each member of our lesson group to see how we were doing and give helpful pointers : ) We cant wait to go back for the beautiful scenery and another pleasant experience!

My girlfriend and I took the Basics of Paddleboarding Class and it was fantastic. Our instructor Ken was very nice and informative. He was giving us tips the whole time we were out on the water and it was a great time. After taking the class I feel like I have a great idea on most aspects of paddleboarding. I was a little nervous to try it out having never done it before, but taking the class was definitely the way to go. And as always all of the staff at Baycreek were friendly and helpful. Not to mention the lagoon is very scenic and goes back for miles, so theres plenty to do. Great prices and you get on the water quick. We try to go back atleast once a week!

This camp is one of the BEST my 11-year-old son has attended, including sports camps or day camps! Every day campers learn a new paddle activity on the water, and go "play in the bay". The group size was small and the counselors were young, energetic, knowledgeable, friendly, and "cool." It seemed like the age ranges were close in my sons class, which was good. Different skill levels were accommodated well. My child felt confident on the activity at the end of each day. At the end of the week, the kids made tie-dyed shirts together. Awesome, reasonably-priced camp for kids who love the water! Definitely would recommend!

Great experience! It was my first time to ever set foot in a kayak! The instructor was very friendly and helped our group to feel much more confident with kayaking by the end of the session. I will definitely be back to do some solo kayaking! I love that you can rent your kayak and use the shuttle to take you to your starting point so you can end at BayCreek Paddling Center to return rental and have your car parked right in the lot. They make it very easy for beginners. And the staff is sooo FRIENDLY, from the instructor to the person helping you make your reservation over the phone. I highly recommend!!!

The people at Baycreek are friendly and knowledgeable. They have the best boats, both rentals and for sale. I have taken lessons there and I bought my boat there. Their dock on the creek is easy for beginners and for experienced boaters alike, and its an easy paddle into the bay or down the creek. Their shuttle service into Ellison Park (the return paddle is about 4 miles with the current) is lots of fun. No place compares. Baycreek stands head and shoulders above the competition.

Rented a canoe here with a buddy and the staff were extremely friendly, we took the Irondequoit creek all the way around and back and werent paying attention to the time so we wound up being a half hour past the 7pm cutoff and the lady waiting for us was still so courteous about it (yes we felt like huge jerks). The price is totally worth it if you dont feel like dealing with the headaches involved with owning a canoe/kayak.

I love coming here. The service is incredible, (they literally have infant sized life jackets, nobody is too young to come along for the ride!) the scenery is beautiful and the birds of the bay are so calm they are unphased by people passing by. They also have a lesser known shuttle service that lets you kayak from Ellison partly all the way back to the bay. Nothing but peaceful, green serenity.

The lesson lasted about 30 minutes with the instructor going through the basics, including different paddle strokes. Very thorough. Groups are no more than 7. Following instruction time, the instructor takes group on about 45 minutes of paddling. Fun experience. Nice area to rent SUP, kayaks. Fully equipped with variety of life jacket sizes. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff.

Absolutely outstanding. Ken was our salesman. He was extremely helpful, and patient (necessary when Im the buyer). Great inventory of canoes, kayaks and stand up paddle boards. Inventory was all of a quality beyond whats available at a sporting goods store. Prices were higher than we expected, but due to higher quality. You can test the boats in the creek right there before you buy.
