I went into Gander Mountain to get them to act as an FFL for me. I did not do a lot of research in my area and just went to the first place I found on a Google search: Gander. Throughout this experience Gander Mountain had poor customer service, with the only competent person I spoke with being the gentleman who initially helped me when I came in. After being told that they didnt have any shipping information and I had to get it on my own, I obtained a tracking number which told me my gun was in the store. I wait two hours after the delivery and call Gander. They tell me that my gun is not in the store, despite my explaining that USPS tracking says it was signed and delivered. I asked how long I needed to wait and the manager told me however long it took them to process the shipment when it got in. I wait until the next day and still no phone call, so I call them around 5:00 and the man who answers the phone tells me "oh, it has been ready for a while." I go into the store and it turns out the person who signed for my gun was the manager of the firearms section. It takes me thirty minutes in a DMV style ticket queue to get someone to help me, who takes about an hour to get my information set up. During this time he is bumbling about, every ten seconds making some statement like "I cant believe it is frozen again" at his computer until one of his coworkers suggests he just print out the forms I need to sign, which takes about five minutes after he prints them. After all this, the guy behind the counter blames the delays on the fact that my gun was old and he couldnt find a serial number for it, which I had ready in case they needed it but was never asked! Gander Mountain charged me $40 BEFORE getting my gun in and gave me horrible customer service. Smaller local stores charge $25 AFTER I receive my firearm, and call immediately when a shipment comes in. Gander charges considerably more for a much worse service and I cannot recommend going to this store for this service any less. Because they charge up front, they dont care about service; they already have your money. The employees are all incredibly rushed since each customer takes about 10 minutes to deal with, they are typically looking at a large queue. When they rush, they get sloppy, they get frustrated, and stop caring. If I could give this experience 0 stars I would.

Was in the store not to long ago, worst service from a gun store let alone any store i have ever had. I went in to buy a new gun (wont say which) but i spent over 3K on it. So i start the ATF process paperwork then the computer part, and the dude keeps asking me all kinds of crazy questions, like "Are you sure you dont have a record ?" then again and again then asking me about my entire life, why this ? why that ? then guy secretly stuffs mouth with chew and says "dont tell anyone". So i go about my business but my friend with me says to him, hey you know that will give you cancer right? The guy behind the counter seems confused like "What ? cancer whats that ? never heard of that before ? huh?" so we try to tell him that its not healthy but really its not our part to say so to people however i think they dont allow that in a store while working there. During a few different areas of my check out the guy gives me grief for not being able to spell a word and wont tell me how to on the computer part. I dont normally use this word a lot but still he says "Are you sure i should be selling you this gun?" after i paid him over $3,200 cash .... which was about to be a deal breaker, me and friend said maybe we should just get our money back and leave, guy was rude but not as rude as the others. He wouldnt stop talking about "how can you afford this?" or "Why you spending so much money?" I reply "Because i can?" hes like "wow" kind of rude retorted statement, then introduces his problems into everything which by this point i was ready to walk the hell out of this store, if anyone knows who i am talking about this guy who puts huge gobs of chew in his mouth and ask you "Can you notice it?", ensure you check his mental status out ASAP to be manning the firearms department at any store. Last time i will be going there for anything, wouldnt stop there to buy a packet of bubble gum. -1 stars and do not recommend P.S. the guy also kept trying to pressure sale stuff on me (wont say what), but each time i said no, he said why not ?? I finally had to just say very clearly "I do not want one right now!"

Bottom line upfront - poor customer service, lack of price tags and a store wide sale that excludes half the store. I went to the store for several things, to get some 5.11 gear, some snow gear for my daughter that was going snow boarding and to check prices for guns. Could not find prices on anything had to try on pants so I needed to gain entry to the extra special changing rooms. When the young blond girl cane to unlock the door she had absolutely nothing to say and acted as I was taking her away from either a really important brain transplant she was completing or the latest installment of Keeping up with the Kardashians, in any case I was cramping her style. I spent a bit over $300 that night including some jogging pants that were priced about $10 off (no such luck when they rung up at full price - causing us to go back a second time). We did go back and the service was just as bad except for the person at the cash register that refunded the $10 over payment. They got another $300 out of me but I really felt like I was the employee and should have been trying harder to please the employees. Not sure what training they take but all seem to have the same attitude of entitlement. That will be the last money I spend there, and I was actually going to get a pair of 1911s there and a new shotgun. Even if the prices are the same (and I am guessing they are not) I would rather take the short trip to Bass Pro or Green Top. On top of things they have a giant banner outside boasting UP TO 75% off. Nothing I could find was 75% off or 50% or 30% off. I did find the jogging pants and I think they were 20 or 25% off. There is a lot excluded including Under Armor and 5.11 to name a few.

Went in for a handgun purchase. Actually had semi decent service until the paper work. Found the gun I wanted to purchase filled out background paperwork and was submitted. They told me it could take 30 mins up to 2 days. Was promised as soon as the approval was in they would call me. Went home and waited 6 hours and no call. They closed at 930 so i called at 830 to see if maybe my approval was in. The guy on the phone says "Oh yea you were approved hours ago weve just been really busy" So i rushed to the store to get my gun before closing. Get there and the guy tells me "theres a mess up on your paperwork so i cant sell you the gun for 7 days" I asked him But wasnt I approved for the gun? And he says "I cant tell you that because ur paperwork is wrong." I said but the gentleman on the phone said it was approved and ready for checkout. He says "He was not supposed to tell you that. Come back in 7 days and you can redo your paperwork" The amount of confusion you get at this place is unreal. Customer service is very weak and they dont strive to take care of there customers. All i wanted to do was give them 800 bucks. This morning the "very next day" I went to SSG Tactical and filled out my paperwork and was approved in less than 10 mins and walking out the door within 45 mins. Long story short gander mountain is good for nothing but accessories... but id rather shop else where after my last 2 experiences at this store.
