Yes, sometimes rude (or hard to obtain) service at the Troy location. Also their website is absolute junk. No links to information pages ... hours, phone, etc. ... just links to blurbs crowing about how great they are. And using google to obtain links onto their site takes you to apparently expired, previous pages ... "404 can not find" ... etc. They very often refuse to answer the phone if you call (Troy) ... NO departments answer ... even during the middle of the business day. On the upside ... from previous visits to the Troy location I know them to have an absolutely extraordinary selection of imports, food and grocery. Really exceptional. No problems with food quality in my experiences so far. A couple years ago they pulled out of what is now by far the largest Polish community in metro Detroit ... the Downriver/Wyandotte area ... after they apparently had a disagreement with their landlord. Left the entire Polish community, which *loved* them, high-and-dry ... it was felt by the Wyandotte area community as a serious and heartfelt loss. I dont know whether the Polish Market understood how badly the community felt after being abandoned. And I dont believe they cared, anyway. A real shame ... they could really be onbe of the most extraordinary ethnic stores overall. Poor management, poor decisions and poor customer service. Absolutely snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. None-the-less ... Polish Market *IS* still worth a trip to the Troy location for the selection alone. If you havent seen it you really should at least once ... wonderful. And of course the Hamtramck store (and Hamtramck in general) ... still near and dear to many hearts.

I cant believe the low reviews, I like the place. The Polish Breakfast Sausage is excellent. Im also a fan of the made in store Mushroom Soup. The variety of stuff is awesome and the vegetables are pretty nice for the price. Pick a number at the meat department and wait your turn. Dont order 20 things at a quarter pound apiece and I bet they are quite nice. Fun for a non-Polish speaking person like me to see all the Polish speaking people and Polish items in the store. edit 7/5/2016 I quit going here because they replaced all the fruit and vegetables with cake and pre-packaged the polish breakfast sausage. Lost a bit of authenticity I think. Still 4 stars worth though....

I drove quite a ways to get to this store and certainly wasnt disappointed. The store was very busy so pull a number and bring your patience and all will be well. I bought seven different types of sausage/kielbasa and was thrilled with the taste of each of them. The homemade Pierogies are excellent. The old saying of you get what you pay for is so true. The selection of meats and cheeses are great. The cost of some of their meats and cheeses that I buy at the grocery store are actually half of what I paid for just last week. The staff is very busy but helpful. Hours are great. I will be back!

I agree that customer service is their biggest fault. I think the deli counter people work very hard and do a great job, and I find their food very good. However the positive experience is consistently lost on checkout with no eye contact or friendliness from any cashier. I am of Polish descent, and wish to support both my ancestral culture, exercise the few dozen or so words I can speak in Polish, and satisfy my taste for European food, but on most occasions, I leave feeling like an outcast or like I had shopped in a neighborhood that doesnt welcome me.

This was my first time at the market and was looking for supplies for my European pastries I make every year. My normal source was sold out of poppy seeds so I decided to try store. The store is quite nice, very big and has a large variety of goods. Unfortunately I am extremely disappointed that the poppy seeds that I purchase were bad. Extremely bitter which means they were old or incorrectly stored and seeing it is a traditional staple in Eastern European baking for Christmas there is no excuse. Will no be buying that there again in the future.

Business hours of this shop are ridiculous and perfect for unemployed people. Prices are high, and not very much choices. We are driving there 30 minutes, and often cant make it, because they turning of the lights in the middle of shopping, what is superfast in our case, because there is not much to buy, but there are few things still.. Today we kissed the handle, because everywhere it says open to 7 PM and it wasnt...wrr. Sausages taste cheap even if they have different names, they are all the same, so we are not buying them anymore.

Where do I even start.... The service is unfriendly and rude, half the time you cant even communicate with them. The store was filthy and I felt discussed purchasing the food. Every time i have bought meat or pastry they ended up being spoiled or old. This store is defiantly not worth coming to and a waste of your money. Whenever I go here I feel as if its a lottery whether or not I will get something good or not. Sometimes they even sell food thats past its expiration date!!!!

I drove 7 miles to get paczkis. I bought 4 different filled ones. When I got home I noticed that one was heavy with filling and the other 3 were light. I cut one in half and there was about a teaspoon inside. I was so disapointed that I returned them and then drove up to Rochester to get some real good ones at Knaps. This isnt the first time I have gotten useless paczkis at Polish Market. I dont know why anybody bothers cause its the filling that makes them real good.

I shopped there for over 10 years. I am not Polish but I know polish language pretty well, unfortunately. I was there yesterday and it was my last time. I am not young and I deserve some respect like every other customer. I think that cook saying vulgar comments about customers and thinks that they do not understand her language should stay home. Bozek just got a new customer.

As far as kalbasa it is great ..But on one of the biggest days Fat Tuesday the paczki were HORRIBLE! The dough tasted old andthere was barely any of the filling. As if the had made hundreds before and frozen them! The whole reason I went there was I thinking I would get great quality NOT THE CASE! NEVER AGAIN. Beyond disappointed

One of my favorite international food markets! Great Polish and eastern European foods that never get old but only better! Really sad the Hamtramck store closed down. This Troy location is very convenient and a clean and busy store with more than enough of a great selection of meats, drinks, dairy, bread, and more!

the service has always been good. you have to be prepared to wait your turn the place is always busy. many of the people who work there are Polish speaking and if you arent it may cause difficulty with your order but they try their best to help you. overall I find it a nice place to get the special items I need.

Great selection of Polish and European goods. The deli counter is way better than any other store, better taste and lower prices. Fresh rolls and pastry, baked hourly, sometimes you can even get them when hot. Best European cakes from Chicago, cannot get those tasting this good from anywhere else.
