Having used Cycle Connection in the past to do some headwork on my 1965 SuperHawk, I was confident in bringing the head and cylinder from my 1982 Kawasaki GPz750 in for valve work and honing of the cylinder. The honing was nicely done, however, the head work was a disaster that cost me time and much expense to correct. When I picked up the head it was filled with sand blasting material. It was evident that the head was blasted after the valves were reassembled. Who does this? This meant I had to completely disassemble the head and thoroughly clean it. When I bench tested the clearances, there was no clearance on the exhaust valves. It was obvious that the simple measurement that would have indicated that the valve stems were now too long to provide enough clearance was not made. I then took the head back to have the valve stems shortened to allow the valve clearances to be set. I was charged additional money for this and for setting the valve clearances, which were set way too loose, leading to additional expense for shims and more of my time. Finally I reassembled the engine only to find that the bike smoked on startup until warm. This is a sure sign of bad valve seals. I then had to disassemble the engine, disassemble the head and found that the tipped valve stems were left with razor sharp edges that damaged the seals. 5 minutes of beveling and polishing would have avoided this. It cost me an additional $225.00 in parts and several days of my time to correct the careless work. Live and learn.

Shawn may be able to tune an engine, but in my opinion, he is a terrible businessman. I had an electrical problem in my bike. He said he could fix it and make some other repairs the bike needed. While he was working on it, he lost the right side cover from the bike on a test ride. I found a replacement side cover on eBay and Shawn agreed to match the custom paint for me. After a couple of months, he had me come get the bike without the side cover on it, and it broke down on the way home. More weeks went by. They said it was ready, then when I went to pick it up it was not ready at all. When I simply said I was losing patience, his wife Rose became agitated and threw me out of the shop. I filed a complaint with the State of MD. Finally, the bike was repaired, but still no side cover. Eventually Shawn blamed the type of paint and returned the side cover to me unpainted. When I complained that after several months, he should have had something done or find some reasonable solution, he became verbally abusive and threatened to sue me. He blamed the bike. He insulted me. He went so far as to tell me he had two witnesses who would testify that the bike didnt have the side cover on it when it came in. That exposed his true character. Watch out for this guy, people. I wouldnt bring a bicycle to this shop!

This is the only shop in the DC area that will get my business. Ive been going to Cycle Connection now for last 6 years. There customers service is second to none! Shawn has worked on all my Motorcycle (06 ZX-14, 07 Gixxer 1000, 07 R1, 09 R1, and 11 S1000rr). He is the only person I trust out of all these Motorcycle shops in the DMV area, which they will just take your money, and provide a horrible service. Cycle Connection does ECU tuning, and it complete transforms the motorcycle. Its such a joy to have him work on my motorcycles. (he has the golden touch) Shawn always gives you a before and after Dyno sheet and always gives you great advice on your Motorcycle from the point it comes to his shop, and discus other mods that you would like to do in the future. Another thing, he always ask me to ride the bike for a short ride to feel the work that he has done. I always come back from the ride with a very big smile on my face. I want to thank Shawn, and Rose for running the best Motorcycle Shop in WASH DC, VA, MD area. :-) Stan

Summary: Shawn and Ryan were awesome. Great customer service. Bike has never ran better. I wont be going back to the Harley dealer...Details: I had some major work done on my bike which required it to be in the shop for a long time. The owner, Shawn took the time to tell me things about my bike that the Harley dealer never mentioned to me. I was very impressed with Shawns knowledge. They were able to fix the fairing instead of replacing it, saving me a bundle. I had them put the bike on the dyno and I cant believe the increase in HP. WOW! Ryan, the mechanic, also took time to explain things to me. All-in-all, they were willing to tell me EVERYTHING. The only down side is that the bike sat outside during the day, rain or shine (the only reason why I rated it 4 stars instead of 5). I HIGHLY recommend this shop for motorcycle repairs and service

To all the bikers out there... Harleys to sport bikes. Shawn at Cycle Connections is the place to go for all your needs. Shawn is VERY knowledgeable on all makes and models for every kind of repair or tuning. He is also the only tuner in this area that does ECU tuning wich is the best type of tuning out ( for some models only ). He is also a very good person who isnt out to just dig in your pocket like most shops. I have a 08 Busa that is running awesome now, thanks to Shawn. You wont be dissapointed.... Shawn wont let you leave unhappy!! Great customer service, good prices, and wonderful people ( his wife is awesome too )...what else is there? Keep up the good work... !!!

Shawn and his team were are great. Shawn took a good 45 minutes to explain what he did when he tunes bikes. For me like everything I do I ask a lot of questions for a few weeks at different shops, Shawn was recommended by a friend. I decided to let him tune my 09 FLHT . When I picked it up before I was out of the parking lot I knew this was right. a 20 mile ride home and all she wanted to do was Dance ! Got to love a perfectly turn bike. Thanks Shawn !

I ride an hour and a half one way just to have my bike worked on by Shawn. He and Ryan run a great business and they take care of their customers. Shawn is a wealth of information and worked tirelessly to dyno tune my bike until it was at its best. He remembered me from last year when I had some work done. Very friendly atmosphere. 2013 Hayabusa: stock filter, full Acrapovic Exhaust, dyno tune. 186rwhp.
