What a TERRIBLE experience. I looked up online exactly what I needed to order. Called Home Depot, Pressed the number to be connected with the Bathroom section, and some one picks up. I state that I would like to make an order. She says ok and put me back on Hold.... 12 minutes later I hung up. Currently I am on hold again, I have called back to speak with a customer service rep. After 4 minutes, the customer service rep has finally picked up. She verifies that they have the product I am trying to order. And puts me on hold again for some unknown reason. Still on hold, I can her the customer service rep in the back ground asking out loud "how do you enter a hyphen?" She asked for my email address and it has a hyphen in it, I tried to tell her where it was but she was too busy putting me on hold again. Maybe Home Depot could invest in a bit of Training for its employees? Just a thought. Still on the phone.... 30 mins now. Silence on the phone now... still just waiting. Wow! more than a half hour. Now she tells me to fill in these blanks in her computer program she needs numbers, I suggest 123, OH MY GOD, This experience is painful! Ok just got fed up... total time on the phone is 36 minutes and Ive asked to speak with a manager. Guess what... Im on hold. NEVER EVER CALL THIS STORE! Im shocked that I am on the phone with a company trying to make a purchase from them, that they have and THIS IS THE WAY A PAYING CUSTOMER IS TREATED. I cannot imagine what it would be like if I had any questions, I mean I even called them with the product numbers so they didnt have to help me locate the type of item. Still on hold by the way. WE ARE AT 40 minutes. hung up. will never make that mistake again.

Wow, such scathing reviews.... This is not such a bad Home Depot, geez. Some associates are very good. Others not so much. I have successfully done renovation for 4 years on my home using this as the primary resource. They have come through well in electrical, windows and lumber, and been average in garden, plumbing and tools. We have few complaints except for the occasional surly or accosting personnel who will drop contact after they dont get what they need from you. Unclear what that is. Usually I just want to shop, browse products, and figure things out. However because I am wanting to understand whats being offerred and think about many possible soultions, some associates seem frustrated or offended that I will not take their offerred solution, without question. They seem honestly ready to help, though, its just that the offerred solutions are usually mid-grade. I have not been able to do anything high-end here. Keep in mind this Home Depot serves a neighborhood of 1950s Capes and Bungalows, not McMansions. There are competent people working here--- just trust your own judgement, dont try anything really elaborate, discuss with them cordially, and it works.

Edit: I have been contacted by regional management who was able to resolve the issue. After beginning the process to have a new counter top installed, I was told that the initial measure and design would be a free service and the estimated cost of the work was to be one amount. After the initial free measure, the company providing the actual service came back with an estimate 165% of the original estimate. I asked at this point to cancel the work as the estimate was way off of final cost and out of our budget. After numerous attempts to contact the staff and managers at the home depot as well as the corporate office, and nearly 2 months later, I was finally given a refund but they refused to refund a portion of the amount due to it being a "Measure Fee" which was never described before beginning the process. I was informed that even worse, the corporate Customer service rep (who was helpful to the extent possible) had extreme difficulty communicating with the stores management. The managers at this location refuse to work though issues and instead bury their head in the sand to ignore and hope they go away.

"You can do it, We can help" does not apply here. They make things so much harder by giving you attitude. Poor service, poor support. You hardly find people to help you move bigger stuff. I went there three time trying to cut some boards, I still havent got my boards now because nobody was available to help cutting. Also, the person who told me they cant do it that day had to sound like I caused them trouble with angry tone. Its more than rude coz its insulting. One time at checkout, I got a piece that doesnt have barcode on and I guess its their policy or something (which I think should change), I was told that I need to go all the way to get the piece with barcode, and then let them scan it. Whether thats customers responsibility is up for debate, but the attitude they gave me at the register was totally unacceptable. Expect to do everything on your own if you go. If you are lucky and got help, be prepared to receive bad attitude. Remember: "You can do it, on your own".

Went to this location to inquire about renting a van or pickup truck. There were 2 people working customer service, Lashawn and Zino. Lashawn was assisting customers and Zino was just standing around. There were 4 people in line. So I walk up to him to ask if they had any trucks available for rent. He points to Lashawn and says that she is doing customer service to ask her. She didnt even glance up. So I was agitated and left. While walking out, I notice there is a truck available so I got back in and stand in line. Now Zino is miracously working and assisting customers as well as Lashawn. There is one other person in line. Zino calls the next person. Lashawn after assisting her last person doesnt even look up and walks away. These people are so unprofessional. Historically this place has poor customer service and I usually avoid it. I will remember to do so in the future. This place is horrible.

Customer service was horrible. I was 90% done with a DIY garment rack made from copper pipe and I came into this Home Depot just to get pipe glue and some more screws. I asked an employee about the pipe glue and he couldnt get over the fact I was using copper pipe to make the garment rack and said it wasnt going to work. He gave me attitude and tried to sell me the galvanized pipe. I had to really sick to my guns and again asked him about the pipe glue and that I wasnt interested in re-doing the project. Eventually, he showed me the pipe glue and gave me instructions and I went on my way. Well, I finished that copper pipe garment rack and it looks awesome. I wish I can upload the photo to this review to rub it in that guys face.

I never expect very much from "big box" chain stores like The Home Depot, and I read the reviews here, expecting a horrible experience, like I usually get when I need service at one of these places. However, after my recent move to the Hyattsville area, I visited this store to pick up a few things, and I was greeted by no less than 5 people as I walked around the store, who also asked me if I needed help. This was much more than I could have ever expected. My tip is to NOT visit on the weekends. My last trip occured on a Wednesday evening, around 7pm. The store was clean, orderly, and well staffed. I wouldnt expect the same on a busy saturday afternoon. I would recommend this store over the other store near PG Plaza.
