Crap shop. I got a good bike by sheer luck, being entirely ignorant going in. The sales associates are also ignorant: they claim theyre not on commission... five minutes after the manager explains what kind of add-ons get a sales kid more money *right* *in* *front* *of* *me*. || They seem to not know anything about bikes: they certainly dont have any interest in starting a chat, and their sales tactics are to sell you something. Most people who are "into" what they sell will start talking about things they like in a personal manner, rather than explaining bullet-points on product theyre pushing; such salesmen also get a feel for your knowledge, understanding, and needs, and can help you find what you need. These guys dont have that going on at all. || To add idiocy to ignorance, their mechanics set up my bike; installed parts; and later performed adjustments after the cables stretched. They cross-threaded a screw on the cycle computer; the bike rack they installed almost fell off (one screw fell out, the rest almost backed completely out); and the kickstand was always loose...until I kicked it to see if it would fall off. It did. The brakes were also completely not balanced (left brake pad impacts immediately, right brake pad has a lot of travel before it impacts), which I fixed myself later. The derailleur was adjusted wrong coming right out of their shop for the initial adjustment after cable stretch. The front wheel is also slightly un-true; I can neither confirm nor deny that if have ever trued it, something that needs to be done off the rack. || To their credit, I must admit they installed the water bottle cage properly. Its bolts were neither over-torqued nor loose; and they werent stripped or cross-threaded. Professional job. Im intimately familiar with the perfect water bottle cage installation because I later removed it to install a bike pump that came with longer bolts (to fasten its holder under the water bottle cage). || I have to admit that Ive learned a lot about bikes from these guys. They screwed my bike up so bad that I had to fix it myself, which forced me to figure out what Im doing. Google and Park Tools web site were useful for this. Also YouTube.

I have not been on a bike in many, many years so I needed help with everything. Dominic D. was the first sales associate that came to my aid at the Perring Plaza Store. He was very patient and did a fantastic job of explaining what I needed. The comfort bike I wanted was a large size so he had the mechanic build me a medium and I had to come back to the store to try the "medium" size. Dominik never pushed me to buy another color or type of bike that was already built so he could get a sale that day. I really felt like he cared about making sure ... I was getting the right bike and accessories for me. I returned to the store a couple days later and the bike was built and ready for me to try. No waiting required! I ended up purchasing a Schwinn Voyageur, helmet, bike rack for my car, an adapter, and 2 yr maintenance plan. That last day Dominic D. did illicit some help from a fellow employee, John S. who was also incredibly helpful. He also gave me some ideas of places for a novice to ride locally. They both had great personalities and I would wholeheartedly recommend the Performance bike shop to anyone looking to purchase a bike. Awesome!!! A+++!!!

My last few visits at this location were horrible experiences.... Actually, unless you know exactly what you want, dont waste your time. Theyve always sucked. Seriously.... These folks must be raking in the money to be able to get away with such atrocious customer service. First time, there were three of us standing at the counter waiting for two employees who were just standing at the register staring at the computer. They never looked up. They never said hello. They never said anything. So, after three minutes of standing there... I put my items back on the shelf and I left. Last time, I had the rudest most arrogant dude ring me up. As soon as I was done, he got in an argument with someone about his schedule. You know what? Do that stuff behind closed doors. It is really not professional and employees causing a negative scene in your store is *never* good for business. Seriously, I will only go here to get items that I need ASAP. Tubes, tires, tools, etc. Avoid if you can.

Visited 6 times and salesmen were always rushed - not enough staff on hand. Some were friendly and helpful (usually these guys were younger) but others seemed more intent on selling than assisting, because theyd rather sell you something they have but you dont need or like than to take the extra time and effort to find a bike that meets your needs. One older salesman suggested I test ride an XL bike even though it was established I fit a Large or maybe Medium frame, which were not on hand. Another blew-off some of my preferences in components by saying, "You get used to [the other kind] after a short time". I never got around to interact with the mechanics but I did see one roll his eyes toward a staffperson when a customer did the unforgivable...she kindly asked him to repeat an answer she had trouble following. Jerk. Give the place a shot - you may have better luck. Unfortunately Ive had enough doubts about the staff that I would hesitate to spend any money here.

Went there today and asked for a price estimate on my back wheel. It was bent I had to get it fixed. I showed it to them and they kept telling me if different prices and werent too helpful. They all seemed to have an attitude and told me things like I should buy a new bike rather than helping me with problem I had. Eventually they told me it would cost 120 bucks for the cheapest wheel to be put on by them. I know that is way too much money. I heard them talking about the situation on my way out. Overall I know this was way too much for the amount of work it would take and for the tire I needed. I have done a tire change like this myself and it shouldnt be ANYWHERE NEAR 120 bucks. I just went to them because I needed a receipt to show the driver who pulled out into me bending me wheel. I guess I will just have to buy the rim myself and replace it hoping the driver that hit me will pay.

Well, buy a bike from them and get the insurance plan and theyll give you really good service, but, you gotta buy a bike from them. Bought 3 bikes there, one had breakpoints and the took a look at it right away. However and this is a big however, if you dont get a bike from them, steer clear. I went in and asked for a part for another bike for m target that I broke and knew I could get for a dozen bucks and fix myself. The guy tried using a lot of big words (words I knew and knew that he was using out of context to confuse me) and told me to schedule an appointment wit them. I declined because I knew he was trying to swindle me. I went in another day and asked for the same part saying it for my bike from them and they helped me right in the spot, the problem wasnt repairable but this time he gave me the name f the replacement part and were to get it...funny how that works.
