This review has been a long time coming. Because I have been on my bike pretty much the entire time since I have bought my Felt IA 3 from Chris and the folks at The Bike Doctor, I have been late in submitting this review. In fact I just got off the phone with Chris who called just to see how things are going. So that was the catalyst to do something I said I would do and that is spread the gospel of The Bike Doctor. If there is a beacon on a hill for the cycling world, quite simply it is found in a nice bike shop in Waldorf, Maryland. Some context would help with how I ended up at this fantastic cloud floating store. I raced the Eagleman 70.3 Half Ironman in June. On my way home I was crossing the 301 Harry Nice bridge, when a sudden and large crosswind ripped my 2008 Cannondale Slice with Blackwell Research deep dish wheels off the top of my car and into an oncoming Ford Expeditions direction of travel. My kids told my mom I said the "F-word" and "S-word" a lot. With a destroyed bike in my hand I turned to a recommended bike store known as The Bike Doctor. I called and set up a time that I could come in and get a fitting. I spoke with Chris (Co-owner with his wife) to establish a fit with their Guru Dynamic fitting system. I have been fitted for bikes and had professional fittings approximately five times in the eleven years of triathlon I have participated and I can honestly say I have never had an experience that was more professional and more committed to my comfort and needs than I had at The Bike Doctor. Chris established my measurements before we decided on a bike. This is the way it is supposed to be done, vice pick a bike then wedge yourself in to the frame. I have been riding almost 120 mile weeks and have not experienced any lower back pain or shoulder pain that I did from my previous bike. Chris just called me today to check in and see how I was doing and how the bike was. If customer service is a currency, Chris and his folks are rich beyond belief. I wish I could express more how much this store does to ensure you are happy. This attitude towards getting people on the road and comfortable so they are biking for a long time is a rarity. Too often bike stores are just trying to get you out the door with a bike and dont care beyond that. The Bike Doctor truly believes in ensuring your happiness is number one. In my tragedy of losing a bike I not only gained an incredible bike (paid for by my Homeowners Insurance) but I gained a bike store for life. Thank you Chris and the team at The Bike Doctor. (I know some folks are curious as to whether a real customer wrote this-you are more than welcome to look up my results at Eagleman-Bib Number 964).

I recently purchased a 2014 Trek Fuel EX 5 29" from this Bike Dr. My experience was outstanding. The sales staff, particularly Kenny, were an awesome group of guys and listened to my thoughts on my selection and offered assistance and critiques to help make sure I was choosing the right bike. The bike was priced competitively below MSRP and it was ready a day early for me to pick up. I had called in advance to see if they had one I was looking for built for me to test ride. They had a more expensive EX 8 handy and were very courteous about letting me take it for a spin. They also made sure I understood exactly what was different about that bike versus the one I was looking for. Fitment was accomplished by Ron and again Kenny. I have over 50 miles on the bike and I must say they did an excellent job on the initial setup as I have not had to adjust anything besides trying out different fork rebound settings. I did have to bring it back after a week of ownership to have the rear shifting retuned, but this is expected with a new bike as cables stretch. The maintenance crew took care of it quickly with no problems and listened to some of my concerns with how the bikes drive train was performing. They also threw in a chain cleaning and lube (part of their lifetime maintenance plan). The staff is also knowledgeable on local biking community events and locations. I will without a doubt be back as every time I have gone to Bike Dr my needs have been much more than met with a friendly staff. I look forward to all of our future interactions. Kenny, Ron, and the rest of the guys, thanks again for putting this awesome bike in my hands. Ill be back soon.

I dont often write reviews because frankly most of my customer service experiences are fairly average so Im not going to waste my time writing a review for an average experience. Every once in a great while I have a customer service experience that goes so far beyond the usual that I have to write about it. I recently went to Bike Doctor to get an advance fit after a previous fit left my right knee and lower back hurting. The head fitter Chris Richardson (and shop owner) went out of his way to ensure that my fit and fit experience were first rate. I am very difficult fit due to the fact that I am an amputee which has given both myself and other less experienced fitters a great deal of trouble. He even went so far as to invite me to a fitting seminar with world class fitter Chris Nurre to fine tune my fit even further. This was at his (the shops) expense and he was under no obligation to do so. Before my initial fit, I had never even been to the Bike Doctor and it was only by a chance recommendation that I ended up going there. I was completely blown away by the entire fit staffs professionalism and his determination to get my fit right. I can tell you that my personal experience was some of the best service I have ever had in any industry. If you are a hard core racer or a casual weekend rider and you need new bike or fit on your existing bike, head over to the Bike Doctor. You will be glad you did.

Since 2012, this shop has been my go to place for advice, fitting, and purchasing of bicycles. After a trusted friend purchased two bikes from the shop and raved about his experience, I took the road trip to check out the store... I live in Richmond, VA (~140mi away) so it was somewhat of a hike. Dont get me wrong, Richmond has great bicycle shops, but they did not offer the professional fit and personal attention to detail that I wanted from a shop, especially with such an expensive purchase I was planning to make. The staff is very knowledgeable about their inventory and I never felt pressured into a purchase that I was not happy with. I worked with Chris personally from the ground up to figure what I aspired to do with cycling all the way through pricing, purchase, and professional fit. I can honestly say that there something special about being properly fitted to a bike and forgetting you are on a bike ride. That goes to show how good this shop is. I am now on my third purchase and would not hesitate recommending this place. Thanks Bike Doctor!
