Would give no stars if possible. Delt with very rude people that apparently have lost touch with humanity being around the dogs and cats so much. (All but one lady) I will give credit where credit is due, they seem to take good care of the animals. I have 7 years experience working with and grooming dogs. Have a great family with two little boys, and a nice house, we went in and met the perfect puppy he was great with my kids. I was asked to fill out the application. Then I hung around for an hour as they did whatever they did. (Not aloud to take the puppy out and play) I was then told they had a lot of applications and they would call me the next day. I called them at 430 to touch base and tell them how hopeful I was to bring him home. They said it would take some time to go through the applications and would know better tom. I called them at 1230 the next day half hour after they opened and Jane informed me they gave him to another family. That my application was denied due to it saying the dog was going to be outside part of the day (10x10x6 kennel for 5 hours). The other family came in before they opened and they let them adopt the puppy. If I would have been informed of this issue with the application I would have had no problem with the puppy staying inside, instead of communicating their concerns they preferred to just jerk me around.

My boyfriend and I went to an adoption event in Indy and my boyfriend found a dog he liked. I had a bad feeling about it but he got it anyway to give it a try. We had this dog for less than a week and concluded that this was not the dog for us. Its just like how not all people get along with each other, we just didnt mesh well with this particular dog. We were told if it didnt work out they would come pick her up for free. We decided to drive her back ourselves because it was our mistake to get her. So we drove an hour there and an hour back. As soon as we got in the door they were extremely rude. They work with animals everyday they should know better than anyone that some just dont get along with everyone and its not anyones fault. Also she was going on about how harmful it is to the dog which I dont agree with. A weeks vacation never hurt anyone and like I said its not like we even got along anyway. The only reason i am giving this bad review is because if the rude service we received in returning the dog. I truly hope that dog finds a wonderful home but it just isnt with us. Will not be doing business again.

Under-appreciated and over-worked, but the workers and volunteers here are real heroes. I browsed the thorough web postings and profiles of cats they had available, chose a very unique looking male (ugly to some, awesome to me ), filled out an adoption form, and within a few days, met my best bud. On pick-up day, I was led to his colony-cage, and let in. He came right up to me, sank his claws into my kneecaps in a friendly manner, and was almost eager to get into the carrier for the ride home. Also, a generous donor had covered half of his adoption fees so that in itself was a huge bonus. I cant recommend a shelter animal enough, theyve been spayed or neutered, have up to date shots and are in generally good health, and on some level, seem to appreciate that they have a great home to go to. A year later, he still meets me at the door when I get home, keeps my feet warm at night, and pats me down if I hit snooze too many times for his liking. Donate if you cant adopt, its for a very, very good cause.

My parents just adopted a small dog on February 2, 2017 named Scout & we are all so happy with this new addition to our family! He is such a great dog!! The women who worked there were VERY helpful & when my Dad picked him up they gave him some dog food and sold him a nice harness and leash. My mom said the women there really liked Scout so we wanted to let you guys know that he is doing VERY well. He healed really well after being neutered (which the shelter provided) and he has a great time running around playing in our fenced yard, we keep the door open during the day so he can go out whenever he likes & have gotten him lots of bones & toys! He sleeps with my Dad on a king size bed so hes really loving that! He has grown to really get along with my toy poodle, theyre becoming little buddies! Thank you guys for blessing us with this wonderful little guy & thank you for all your help!

I have volunteered here for the last year and love the dedication the staff has towards its animals. It is a no-kill facility that does not euthanize for space, and adoption fees are reasonable too. The dogs get to go outside a few hours a day and are socialized in play groups and with volunteers. The cats live in colonies that people can go into too not cages. They try really hard to get the long term animals adopted out and work with any behavior issues and match personalities of the animals to adopters. It is sad though that they cant take every animal in cause they just dont have the space or money. DONATE to them, they do so much with very little.

The people who work here are dedicated to finding their dogs (and cats) wonderful homes. The adoption fees are VERY reasonable. Ive had a bad experience at another shelter (and they would not refund my $500). This one will even let you return your pet and refund your money the first 2 weeks if things dont work out. This is the place to go for a pet. And please make an additional donation if you can afford to.

Help the animals is ran by a very caring bunch of people with a goal to help the animals in the Wayne County and surrounding county area. This organization does a wonderful job and the animals there are well cared for and loved. The best place to go to find an orphaned animal to adopt and love in your home
