I bought my Chevy 2010 Traverse from John Thornton Chevrolet. And yes the customer service during the purchase was awesome. I was so impressed with the sales guy, I knew for sure I was making the right decision. Four and a half years later and I am regretting more and more that I ever stopped at John Thornton Chevrolet at all. No matter whether or not you schedule an appointment or not, you can expect to sit there at least two hours for a simple oil change. I took my vehicle there yesterday because the engine light was on and I could hear the power steering humming. I asked them to top off the power steering fluid, which you shouldnt have to ask a certified repairman to do. Im always finding myself asking them to do something they should already do. They finally called me after 2:00 p.m. today with a $1,500.00 estimate for a power steering leak, O2 sensor and purge valve replacement. I declined the estimate. Once I get there at 5:00 p.m. to pick my truck up, I had to sit an extra 25 minutes till they completed the oil change. Yes, they had my truck since yesterday and still hadnt changed the oil in it. Then they charged me approximately $240.00 for two diagnostics and the oil change. The time before that I went into John Thornton Chevrolet to get the brakes serviced because they were squeaking. I made it there at 7:00 a.m. and sat there till 12:00 p.m. Yes, I was the first in line and still sat there almost 5 hours only to get my vehicle and find out that they only serviced the front brakes and the back brakes were still squeaking. So I had to bring the car back the following Saturday to get the back brakes serviced. That took another 4 hours of sitting there waiting for the back brakes to get fixed. And all the service center associates attitudes absolutely suck. When I took it back the following Saturday, the man told me that I should have called and scheduled an appointment to bring it back and did not want to service it again. His manager had to come out and insist that they service the vehicle that day and he was angry because he test drove it himself and couldnt believe that they allowed the vehicle to leave in that condition. Nevertheless, he did not charge me to do the back brakes that day. But I couldnt believe that the service associate was telling me what I should have done. I told him that if they had did what they were supposed to do, the only thing I would need to be doing after that was singing their praises. How dare he tell me what I should have done when I wouldnt have needed to do a thing if they had done their job. I will be purchasing a 2016 Chevy Tahoe this year but you can best believe it wont be from John Thornton Chevrolet. I will drive the additional 20+ miles to Cobb County to see Steve Rayman. Their service was always excellent for my GMC Denali and I didnt even purchase it from them.

I generally detest the process of buying a new car and all the BS that comes with it. The back-and-forth about price, the quasi-genuine talk about kids, job, blah, blah, blah. I spent the better part of two months test driving SUVs at dealerships in the Atlanta market and ended up at John Thornton Chevrolet on a Saturday. I was greeted by an enthusiastic but unassuming salesman, Ken McGill, and for the next eight hours I ran that man ragged. I was torn between a truck and an SUV, was focused on a price and monthly payment and had more questions than a toddler during his first trip to the carnival. Knowing everything about a vehicle, and specifically how it compared to other options, is very important to me. I had done my homework as well and can sniff out a dishonest sales rep in a heartbeat. Ken never wavered in his enthusiasm and shot straight all day long. If he didnt know the answer to a question, he didnt manufacturer one; he went and asked someone else. Throughout the process, by being honest and treating me like I was important, Ken and the dealership earned my trust and respect. And in the end, aside from the vehicle itself, I chose to spend my money with them. I have no doubt that Ken didnt make a killing on commission and more importantly, I never felt like that was a priority for him. He focused more on meeting my needs by working within my budget, even if it meant coming down to a price I could live with at his own expense. Encounters with other employees left a similar impression - these people enjoy what they do, are passionate about Chevrolet and have a genuine interest in making the customer happy. The used car sales manager assessed my trade-in and was completely honest and transparent with his offer, which in my opinion was more than fair. As an aside, I purchased the Equinox and after test driving every comparable model made by the competition, I firmly believe that there isnt a better bang for the buck. From design, interior, options and handling, the Equinox delivered ahead of the rest. And for those placing an emphasis on a quiet cabin, the Equinox is head and shoulders above everything else in this price range. Ive never written a review about a dealership because Ive never felt compelled to do so. Im also conscious of the fact that its far easier to complain than to give accolades, but Thornton Chevrolet earned my business and deserves praise.

I went in for a diagnosis of leaking fuel from my gas tank on a 2007 Chevy Tahoe. I notice a couple of days before I smelled a strong odor of fuel, and took a look under the truck and saw fuel under the tank. I called John Thornton Chevrolet, thinking this was the best option to pinpoint exactly where the leak was coming from. I spoke with Tim from services and he told he could diagnose the problem for $95 bucks. So I took it in and drop it off. Tim called me back about an hour later and said you have a leak coming from the top of your tank. He said that it was either a hose which would be $853 or it was the fuel pump which would be $1500. So I was back at the point before I went to the dealership. I ask Tim what did I pay $95 for? He said now you at least know the two options it could be coming from. He said that it would be too much work for $95, to drop the tank and pinpoint exactly where the leak is coming from. I asked him why wouldnt you tell me this when I told where I saw fuel at on the tank? He said that $95 is for a basic diagnosis and if I wanted to pinpoint exactly where the leak is I would have to pay $600 for them to drop the tank. I then asked him why would I pay you $95 to tell me, something I already knew. He went back to saying you at least know it is the hose or the fuel pump now. At this point I was very fustrated, because the very reason I took my SUV to the dealership was because I knew they would be able to pinpoint where my leak was coming from. To make a long story short, I feel like these guys are crooks, that gauge prices and take advantage of people all the time. I will be disputing this charge with my credit card company. Stay away from these guys, I will never do business with liars and conartists.
