We visited Academy Sports and Outdoors in Kissimmee, FL yesterday and it was a less than stellar experience to say the least. We came in around 5pm and were prepared to buy bikes if we got the help we needed. There were many employees that I saw in the store, but none of them were approaching customers, including the people around the front, door greeter, everyone none of them were acknowledging customers as they entered even. We stood in the bike section for 15 minutes and were still not greeted. My other half was ready to go, but I told her Id go get someone. I walk towards the front desk of the store where a girl saw me coming and scattered as I approached-the gentleman at the greeter station (guess thats what it is) I asked him if we could get help in bicycles from someone who knew about them. He pointed to the golf aisle (about an aisle over from the bikes) and said theres two guys over there go grab one of them and they can help you, then just looked back at the podium. I approached the aisle and these 2 people were clearly having a personal conversation that had nothing to do with work. I made it all the way over to standing next to them practically (still no hello or even showing that they see I exist) and said, excuse me do one of you know about the bikes and can possibly help us? One of them responded that he guessed he could help us. He came over to the bicycles, and obviously didnt know anything about them. We asked about Hybrid bikes because we read about them and seemed like they would be best for us. He said they had them, but couldnt really find them or tell us anything about them. He left to apparently find some answers, came back and said they had only 2 that were Schwinns. He still couldnt tell us anything about them, just apologized that he didnt know much and kind of stood there. Disappointed, we just said thank you and we would keep looking. No one acknowledged us as we were leaving either. Very disappointing. For a brand new store first of all you would think they would want to at least be asking people if they needed help or something, anything. They didnt seem interested in really working at all. Prices seem good, but sometimes people have questions they need some semblance of help, and there are many other places out there where you can at least get someone who talks to you when you come in. That our my first and most likely last experience in an Academy.

Ive shopped her since they opened. Ive had no issues and have been treated well by staff including having an employee who was working on stock stop what they were doing to help me without asking. I was looking for water shoes and was looking through a rack to find my size. She came over and directed me to another spot that had more water shoes in different sizes since I was struggling to find some that fit right. They typically always have the fishing lures I am looking for and have a decent selection. Their house brand fishing equipment is actually pretty good as well. I have a H2O Delta spinning rod that is extremely strong and sensitive. Best fishing rod Ive bought in a long time and got it on sale for $20. Their H2O Express lures are also very good and at a good price. The store is usually very clean and the staff is usually very nice just thin at times. Ive bought everything from shirts, golfballs, to small random items and fishing equipment at this store. Ive been happy with each purchase and experience.

I will never buy a firearm here again. After the mandated 3 day wait, went to pick up. Nothing is explained, no suggestions as to accessories, ammunition, etc. to purchase. No explanation of gun safety, handling, storage, etc. They will not even hand you the gun IN the store after purchase. They escort you OUTSIDE the store at entrance and hand you the gun there. no bag , no discretion, nothing. I didnt even get a thank you. Couldnt even inspect firearm IN store to make sure there no damage or issues. Felt like I was doing something wrong for buying a gun. Again no explanation as to why, if policy or otherwise. Terrible customer service. Price wasnt any better than comparable stores and was told they do not price match regardless. Very disappointed

After traveling more than 20 countrys, a lot of competitions in different sports and not having a lot of money to spend around in bad quality products, I can 100% assure to anyone, that Academy is the best sports store in the world. Price talking, variety, customer service, quality, etc. Do not hesitate to go, I still do not have one in Tampa, but when I need anything for camping, hunting, fishing or for my kids sports, I do not mind to travel all the way to Kissimmee, FL. in order to find what I need. Its that good ! Plus, it has been in business for more than 60 years. Go and find for yourself that it is even better than what I just described.

Muy caro, pero si te gustan los deportes encontrarás desde pesca hasta tiro, pero pero los precios no son los más baratos, lo bueno y destacado es que encuentras de todo lo relacionado con el deporte, y lo que me lleva a decir que no me gusta es que no vi empleados de habla hispana

i went there yesterday to get a refund for a bag of charcoal that didnt work. they didnt accept a refund for a bag of charcoal that didnt light up. even though it was less than 30 days, they said we couldnt return it because the bag was open. HOW THE HECK DO THEY THINK BECAUSE A BAG WAS OPEN THAT WE DONT GET A REFUND, HOW ARE WE GOING TO TEST IT THE CHARCOAL WORKS IF WE CANT OPEN THE BAG. the idiots that work there should be fired to think that. i asked to talk to the manager, but they didnt let us. worst customer service ever

Lazy employees, bad equipment My father, brother, and myself went here to purchase fishing rods from this store, everything seemed nice till we got out to the pier, within minutes my fathers rod broke at the tip, my brothers motor fell apart, and I reeled in before I had any trouble, when we went to return the rods there was a small line at customer service but I counted 8 employees including the supervisor just standing around socializing. If I could Id give a -5 star. Not coming back.

WENT TO THE STORE, WAITED AROUND THE FITNESS DEPT. FOR LIKE 20 MINUTES AND THERE WAS NO ONE AROUND. FINALLY AFTER 30 MINUTES I GET HELP AND THEY DONT HAVE THE PART THEY HAD ON SALE. OF COURSE THEY DONT DO RAIN CHECK SO I LOOSE THE SALE PRICE. I ASKED IF I COULD GET THE FLOOR MODEL AND AGAIN NO, THEY CANT DO THAT. I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL CUSTOMER SINCE THIS STORE OPENED AND I FEEL DISAPPOINTED. OH WELL MAYBE ILL FIND WHAT I WANT SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Why do veterans think that they are owed 10% off everything all the time? You enlisted, or got drafted. you came back. The country owes you a discount for the rest of your life?? Freedom isnt free? no...but you can get a discount if you can show them your dd214. Its a good store, they are there to make money and help out the best that they can. If you dont like it go somewhere else or order online.
