What do you dislike about it? Share a tip. BUYERS BEWARE •Western Appliance lacks both professional service and quality products. They do not stand by their products and the showroom is ghastly. •Deliverymen handled my appliances, which were not properly strapped. The doors were flailing on the appliances in a quite disgraceful manner. This could be why my unit leaks. •They sent out a repair man to fix leaking washer - could not find problem. The unit continued to leak, asked to get fixed or replaced – they again suggested a repairman; I said no. *Company never sent out repair men - yet sent a follow up letter saying the service was completed. •I Contacted the manager, Mike, whom is extremely rude and has a bad attitude. When I asked about replacing the unit he told me Tough, I bought the appliance, and that he would only repair. This was a new $800.00 washer I didn’t want to start out with one that was broken. •Delivered wrong refrigerator and kept replacing with wrong refrigerator, it was the floor model how can they get that wrong? They did 3 times – I still have wrong refrigerator. •Disgusted and frustrated by lack of service, I gave up, which is what they had hoped for. I had waited weeks, wasted my valuable time expecting deliveries in a 4 hour window, meeting different delivery people and repair men. My washing machine still leaked - but is now leaking profusely, past warranty, damaging personal belongings. I am now forced to pay for repairs. •My husband and I own a construction company and I practice interior design as well. I caution people in our field to please have their clients go else where and never refer a friend to Western Appliance. The owners of Western Appliance should read the reviews; they need a new Sheriff in town.

I bought a Range Hood from the Western Appliance located at Tully Rd, San Jose, CA which costs $693.74 on Sunday (11/29/09) and returned it the next day with receipt at the same store on Monday (11/30/09), but the store manager charged me 10% restocking fee for the returned item and the entire amount to be put as store credit for later use. I totally do not agree with this. Before purchased, I wasn’t aware of the store return policy was stricter than the others. They didn’t disclose to me about this. I asked the sale person, his name is “Choi Vo” for the return policy before I bought, he just said that I will be charged 10% restocking fee for return item, and didn’t mention about the store credit issue. If I knew this, I would not make the purchase. In conclusion, I’m really upset about this matter. I agreed with 10% restock fee for the returned item, but I don’t agree with the entire amount to be put into store credit, because Im not going to buy anything from this store. Everything they sell costs an arm and a leg, and their return policy is stricter than Sears, Costco, Lowe, Home Depot and Orchard Supply. Moreover, I’m not satisfied with their products and service; I will never come back for another purchase. Western Appliance’s policy to keep customers’ money to store credit when they return their items the next day with receipt is extremely ridiculous and unfair. General speaking, they’ve been using my money to make profit. In my opinion, this is cheating. On the other hand, I had to pay the interest for my debt. I’m worry about someday I’ll lose all my money when they go belly-up. I need my money back.

We had an extremely bad experience today at Western Appliance and wish we had read other reviews before even going there. We bought a $400 range hood from them and when we opened the box, my husband realized that the filters were contorted. He didnt open the rest of the unit and packed up the box. When I went to return the box today, I was shown dents and nicks on the body of the hood that I didnt even know existed. I was told that WA wont return the hood. I was also shown a form with my husbands initials stating that the unit was opened and inspected by us at the time of purchase. Unfortunatley, my husband had initialized the form without even bothering to inspect the unit as he trusted Western Appliance to do the right thing! A big lesson for us for the future to carefully inspect the units before purchasing them or initializing such forms. This situation had never occured to us in the past 25 years of appliance shopping and none of the other stores made us sign such forms! Now, we are stuck with a $400 damaged range hood which is not the right size for our kitchen and has contorted filters. I have never come across such poor customer service as what I experienced at the store today.

I had the worst experience of my life at this Western Appliance store with LINDA. Long story short, once the saleswoman, Linda, sold me a washer/dryer the day I walked in and she received her commission, she completely disregarded the fact that I was unable to use washer/dryer without a stacking kit for over 5 weeks. After many phone calls and promises every week that the stacking kit would FINALLY arrive and empty promises from her that she would drop the stacking kit off at my house. I finally had to drive to the warehouse and pick up the stacking kit FIVE weeks later. This saleswoman truly showed no sympathy for the fact that I walked in to the store to purchase a washer/dryer that I could use right away and instead had to frequent the laundromat for over five weeks, this experience left a very bad taste in my mouth. Never again will I shop at western appliance. Total disregard for customers satisfaction. 30 seconds for a salesperson to approach me, 10 minutes to sell me a washer/dryer, 5 weeks before I was able to use it and Linda did not care one bit. Urgency to sell but no urgency to truly take care of customers.

Right when my husband and I were about to make our final decisions about appliances for our kitchen remodel, our 17-year old washing machine crashed beyond repair. Suddenly a new washer/dryer duet became our highest priority. We checked on line and at a couple appliance stores but decided to go to Western Appliance on San Carlos in San Jose. The minute I walked in the door I was greeted by Shawn Montarbo who, with 25+ years of experience in the appliance business, provided a wealth of extremely useful and practical information. He was attentive to my worries about our laundry room space limitations, respectful of my time, and very thoughtful about my pocketbook. I left the store having purchased not only a washer and dryer, but also the Thermador Range, hood, dishwasher, and microwave oven my husband and I had picked out elsewhere (for a lot more money!). And...EVERYTHING was delivered within 48 hours. We were beyond thrilled with the service, the tour of options, the total expense and the after sale service. I would definitely recommend Western Appliance to friends and family. Hats off to Shawn!!!

After ten years of being a loyal customer of Western appliances, I was sadly disappointed with their customer service, and delivery of the product. They blamed my husband for misunderstanding the terms of the installation of the appliances, and then they proceeded to deliver a damaged product. The manager was very rude and disrespectful, and they have not returned my calls about replacing the damaged appliance. We will NEVER shop there again and I will share my experience with the hundreds of employees at my work place. How sad that a neighborhood establishment has gone down the toilet.
