There is no way I can make this review up so please read on and prepare to be amazed.... My wife and I are having a house built and are staying in an apartment until its finished. All of our furniture is in storage so off we went to buy a couch to sit on in the meantime. We dealt with a salesman named Jose. My wife and I found a couch we liked, agreed to buy it and have it delivered. He said delivery would be $69. Ok no problem. While we were doing the paperwork we found a different couch we liked more and decided to change to that. The price was about $200 more but then he told us shipping would now be $120. We didnt like that and were going to buy the other couch but then Jose said he would knock $50 off so we agreed. I noticed they were putting up signs for an upcoming Labor Day sale and asked him specifically, "Im not going to go home and check your website online and find this cheaper, am I?" In a joking manner. He reassured me I wouldnt. Well I did. And it was $100 cheaper and also put me into the $69 shipping bracket again. So Jose tried to screw me out of $220. Called and complained, got the price adjusted. DELIVER DAY: Ashley furniture sent me the 3 stooges delivery team. They DESTROYED my couch bringing it up the stairs and into my apartment. Ripped the fabric on both corners, broke the frame. And once they got it in and saw they destroyed it, asked me, "if I could live with the damages" or would have someone come out and "fix" the couch. All because they were too lazy to put it back on the truck. I refused the couch and back to the truck it went. But not before the guys taking the couch down the stairs dropped it, the bottom guy fell backwards down the stairs, the top guy let go of the couch, the couch slides down the stairs like a sled, and crushed the guy who fell backwards, between the couch and wall. We rescheduled the delivery. Made a delivery date, never received a call the day before. Called that night to confirm, they told me no delivery date was rescheduled even though I did it with a manager. Finally screamed enough to get them to stick with the original date, had the couch delivered, damage free. **UPDATE** Well the stupidity keeps on coming. They DOUBLE BILLED my card for the original marked up price, and also the adjusted price. This place is completely incompetent all around!

My wife and I recently made a large purchase at the Ashley Furniture store in Naperville IL. We were told by our sales person that a few days before delivery, Ashley would be contacting us to confirm the delivery date. Our delivery date was scheduled for Saturday June 17th (the day before Fathers Day). On Wednesday June 15th I received a text message requesting that I confirm my delivery date on the 17th. Per the instructions on the text, I replied "YES" and I immediately received a 2nd text thanking me for confirming my delivery date. On the 16th, I decided to just call Ashley to reconfirm my delivery date so I called the customer service number. I was then advised by a customer service representative that my 17th delivery date was canceled, and that they could squeeze me sometime the next day on the 18th. After several minutes of complaining and explaining that this was Ashley s error, I was repeated told that there was nothing she could do and I would have to wait one more day. On any other day, I would have probably just given in and accepted the poor service and waited until the next day. However, I had no furniture and I had guests coming over the next day to celebrate Fathers Day. After calling my sales person and requesting to speak to the manager, I got the same unacceptable response, "youll just have to wait another day". I wasnt giving up at this point, so my wife and I drove to the Bolingbrook Warehouse and spoke to Starr Stevenson Hayes who was a sales manager at that location. We explained to her the problem and also explained that our house was only 10 minutes from the warehouse. She asked us to be patient while she walked over to the warehouse to see what she could do. After 20 minutes, she came back and said that made several calls and got our delivery date reinstated on the 17th and that we would be the first delivery stop between 8-noon. The delivery guys showed up the next day at 820am and delivered all our new furniture. Thanks Starr for going over and beyond to rectify the problem and doing everything you could to keep a customer happy....you made my Fathers Day! Its too bad that the first 2 people I spoke to werent as helpful. I would have originally given this a 1 star review, but gave it 4 stars since Starr Stevenson was able to save the day.

Short: Solid selection. Fair prices. Poor in store service, poor delivery service, nasty customer service. Long: There was an eager salesman at the door and that was the last we saw of employees working at this location. Sometimes It is nice not to be followed or hassled but this place was a ghost town. Finally we went and found a salesman and purchased the bed we wanted and decided on a delivery date. A week later we received a delivery confirmation call, confirming the wrong date. We were able to get it rescheduled, only to receive the bed set without any of the hardware. 1 of the 2 delivery men spent most of their time assembling a dresser upstairs while the other and myself moved the rest of the furniture. When we called customer service (29 minute wait) regarding the missing hardware for the bed a nasty women told me to refuse the delivery, which I would not do because I already took off work to make this rescheduled delivery work and wouldnt do it again, or the hardware kit could be delivered in 2 - 14 days. So we kept the furniture and slept on the bed box and mattress on the floor awaiting the hardware. The customer service women told me if I couldnt figure out how to assemble it then they would send someone out to do so. Fortunately I was capable and didnt have to call back again. What started as a 5 star experience quickly dropped the more we worked with these people. Furniture is very nice but the service is a lack there of.

Take caution shopping here or any other Ashleys store. Over the past 2 years Ive spent close to $5k dollars on furniture w/this company. I will no longer shop at Ashleys & I will cancel my account. If you purchase something that you would like to have delivered youre at their mercy when it comes to the time. You may pick the day if it is available but you are not allowed to select the time of that day (morning/noon/evening). Their horrible excuse/reason is that the "system" selects the time based on your region. What type of foolishness is that? I dont have any knowledge of other companies having this sort of policy but like I said because of this insane policy Ill take my monies elsewhere. **UPDATE** ...and it gets better when I decided to view my electronic statement. During the purchase it was agreed upon that delivery would be free. Well of course the num-nutt who was my sales clerk could not or would not release/remove that charge from my account. So months later, many phones calls to different countries later, Im trying to get these not so smart people to do the right thing. If I could give minus stars I would. NEVER shop with this company. Buyer Beware. You can do better elsewhere.
