I went to The Pawn Broker on West Boylston St to sell some items, because they advertise on TV so much, that I figured it was worth trying them out. My wife and I had an accident with our house, and had to come up with $4,000 in a short period of time. It was then that we decided to sell and pawn some of our items. I had some new and in the box drills that would cost about $300, but they offered me $25. I took their deal, because I didn’t know any better. My wife got up a pile of old gold jewelry that she wanted to sell. And then she decided to pawn her engagement ring. The ring is appraised for $10,000. I brought the jewelry in, and explained to him that we had an accident, and he asked how much we needed. I said "even though I know we aren’t going to get it, we need to come up with $4,000". He snickered, and looked up over his glasses at me and said "Well you came to the wrong place". He takes a long look at the ring with his jewelers loop, and then took it out back into another room where he started talking to someone else. After about 5 minutes of very quiet whispering, he comes back to the counter and says "I can lend you $200". My jaw dropped. I couldn’t believe it. I knew that I wouldn’t get much, but $200 was just plain insulting. I took the ring back, and told him thank you, but no thank you, and walked out. I was so disappointed, and thought that this was probably the norm at all pawn shops. I figured that there was no way that pawning our things was going to work out. I figured I would take a ride out of the city and go to a place in one of the smaller towns. I did a search and decided upon a pawn shop in Hudson. I walked in, and showed the guy there my ring. After a few questions, he told me that he could offer me $1000 loan, to which i immediately took. I have since brought many items there, and always got a good deal. The main point to my story is, shop around. You don’t have to sell them your item if you are not comfortable with the price. Chances are there is probably someone else out there that will give you money closer to what you think the value is. I will never bring anything to “The Pawn Broker".

Very rude all around.I called about an item, and wanted to know how much it would be to pick up. His response to me was you can figure it out on your own.I replied I just want to make sure I have enough and asked if he could check for me. He replied no i feel like im teaching elementary school and started talking to me like im an idiot asking me if i could do simple math. Before hanging up on me mid sentence he told me that i should be able to add simple numbers together and if i could not i have a serious problem. Very rude owners I would not reccomend them to anybody!! These people treat you like you are an idiot for asking a simple question,i just wanted to make sure i had enough money to pick up my item! The only reason they got one star is because giving them zero stars was not an option!!

I was in a tight jam and needed to come up with 300$ i brought one of my guitars to them. I had got it about 2 months earlier and cost me 500$ i brought it to him he offered me 15$ i was like what? I told him i brought a few things before. He raised it to 20$. I brought the guitar to a local music store and they gave me 175$ and later came back and saw it listed for 300$. So I couldnt believe i had gotten an offer of 15$. I will never return to this place again. Theyre prices are so outrages Its like paying retail.

Definitely worst place in the city to pawn or buy anything. Im sure they get some occasional suckers that keep them in business. I swear this is true I once brought a diamond ring there and was offered $60 . i walked right out went to a few places and eventually sold it to a place on pleasant St for $1100 . Dont waste your time here.

We went to the Cash Exchange on a whim after one of our flat screen TVs had been damaged beyond repair. We were able to replace the TV that we had for one that was larger and the price was within what we wanted to spend for a used TV. It was a good experience and we would definitely do business at the Cash Exchange again.

I got an acoustic guitar here. The shopkeeper threw in a the strap, bag, and some picks along with it. Everybody was very kind, good service, good quality items. I will definitely come back. Please note the name on the side of the building is different than the one listed here.
