BAIT AND SWITCH!!! I called in the morning looking for a specific size and color of subway tile and spoke with DAVID. He put me on hold and came back to the phone telling me that they had it in different finishes. When I asked him how much it costs, I was told not to worry, his price couldnt be beat. He didnt realize that I had already called around and knew exactly who had what I was looking for and how much I had been quoted. So I went to the shop to take a look, and SHOCKER, he showed me the regular subway tile and acted surprised when I told him that I was looking for the specific size I described to him on the phone using the dimensions. I said thanks, and started toward to door. Of course he followed me asking me what I was doing. I told him backsplash. He said while shaking his head oh so (not) convincingly sympathetically, "I just dont know where youll be able to find it," and wanted to show me some other options. I cut him off and said I had already found it and was going to that store to buy it. He felt sleazy on the phone...I should have stuck to my gut. Shame on The Tile Shop for encouraging such aggressive salesmanship!!!

Pros: good selection, price/discounts/willing to bargain, although they made several mistakes they were willing to correct them. Cons: rep ordered wrong/old tiles, rep told me wrong shipping info three times, called manager to complain and he told me hed get back to me but never did- i had to call him back 3 times bc he forgot, took me about a month to finally get all of my tiles even though I did a rush delivery, tiles came broken, not all tiles came (count your tiles!). When I told the manager that the service and all the hassle had been ridiculous and asked why this never happened at the rockville store as I never had issues like this, the manager said "you know why? because I used to be the manager there." Im still not sure I know what this means and how that explains/excuses horrible service. One manager, Gus, was awesome here and made me feel better. District manager tried to salvage my exp. Over all wasnt happy. Would only go back to Gus.
The showroom is very nice, but overall the selection is limited. Over priced for Home Depot quality tile. Sales staff was aggressive on trying to buy right away. (I found out later they are all commissioned based pay). Great for ideas, but not a pleasant shopping experience.
Tile was ok but wouldnt accept return of unused items they recommended. When you pay premium prices, you expect better service. Home Depot and Lowes have similar quality products with much better return policies. I cant recommend buying any materials or tools from them.
I liked their variety of selection. I didnt like my time being wasted with tile on the showroom floor that was discontinued and they put it back up on the showroom floor. The end result was a quote that was overpriced or being over sold boxes of tile.
On my first visit no one offered to help nor greeted me. On my second trip a small group sat in the back and spoke among themselves. I had to approach and ask for help. Its as if they dont want your business.

Good selection and price. Over estimated amount we needed by a large amount but took everything back and refunded fully with NO restock charge.
Walked in, no one asked to help or was willing. Overpriced... dont waste your time
