I bought an 07 Escape Hybrid there in the Fall of 06. At the time they had a far better selection and the best prices of any dealer around. All the other dealers had one hybrid in stock, and were using them to do bait & switch sales. Id show up and theyd try to talk me into buying a "real truck for a real man" or some such BS. Sunnyvale ford "got it". They had over a dozen hybrids in stock and their asking price was MSRP with $5000 cash back or 0% financing. (everyone else was charging MSRP + prep + nickle + dime) We did a fair sensible deal in record time. So far, Ive been very happy with the Escape Hybrid. At the time it seemed small, compared to the 4-Runner it was replacing, but now it seems huge. My best guess is they make their money on the service. They marketed it really heavily after I bought the car. (I take it to jiffy lube for oil changes and do the other routine maintanance myself.) I took it in for a minor recall, and they did that fair enough. But when it threw a few intermittent "Tire Pressure Sensor Fault" messages I took it in to get checked out under warrenty. Maybe Im naive, but I kind of expected them to be slightly embarassed that their car malfunctioned, read out the computers fault log and tell me what they found. Instead they demanded $65 to "run a diagnostic" but were very evasive about what they were likely to find. They denied that the OBDC keeps a fault log and said they wouldnt be able to repair anything under warrenty unless it failed during their test drive. They also started hinting that damage wasnt covered under warrenty. (it still has the original tires and has never been crashed. At the time it faulted it had never even been off pavement!) When I tried to get information about how the TPMS works their guy Adam just started making stuff up. (It will report an error if the tire pressure is off by 2 pounds, if you over-inflate the tires, youll damage the sensor, etc.) So I refused the diagnostic and asked for my car back. When I picked it up the paperwork it had a snotty note "Vehicle so Dirty Hard to See Damage" scrawled across the bottom. (no description of any actual damage mind you, just a vague insinuation that whatever might be wrong was my fault) Sad. It takes about 20 seconds to hook up a computer and dump the fault log. Most of their service bays were empty, so they had the resources available. Youd think theyd be willing to do that after I paid them cash for a new car... Minor intermittant problems are frustrating and can be hard to figure out. This was a great opportunity for them to establish credibility with a new customer but it was absolutely the wrong time to try to make a buck. Now Im actually looking forward to the warrenty running out. Then I can just take it to an independant mechanic that I like and trust.

Dont trust these guys! I needed a new vehicle fast. i also needed to rebuild credit. Went to them on a recommendation from my bank (the guy was probably getting a kickback). Sunnyvale Ford promised they could do anything the "credit specialists" could do and implored me not to go anywhere else. I told them exactly what I could afford to pay down and per month. They steered me to a certified used vehicle that fit my needs. When it came time to do the deal everything changed. One salesman, Jeff was so overwhelmingly phony trying to act like my friend it was actually nauseating. When the deal was presented, the down payment was triple what we discussed and the monthly almost double. Not even in the ballpark. I tried to leave at least 3x and they kept knocking down the price (which already tells me they do not have my best interest in mind). After 2 hours of negotiating the sales manager Jeff tells me I have been approved, my down payment is 1,000 due in a week (which they cashed the same day even though they promised not to) + trade in (which they already took possession of before i even signed anything) and my monthly $213. One problem the finance manager went home and we have to finish tomorrow. They said it would take 30 min. The next day after 2 more hours the finance manager presents me the deal and its $268/mo. He said he couldnt get it approved under the original terms promised (which i was supposedly already approved for). He said as goodwill he would throw in a 2 year full service warranty. When reviewing my contract the warranty was optional and added another $55 a month. (The exact difference of promised and actual payments). When i called them on this they said the bank insisted on the deal being structured that way. I called the bank (capital one) and they said that they make no such request or requirement. I brought this to the dealers attention and then they changed there story again saying that was the only way they could get it approved at the selling price. Again B.S. Now they say they will take the warranty off but they will have to increase the selling price of the car. That was Friday 4/7. After talking with Haroon (Finance Mgr) several times he promises "to try" to restructure the deal by Monday. If I dont get what i was promised originally I will return the car. i will follow up this review. The car is great but these guys are unscrupulous. I will never go there again.

Slimiest sales people on the planet! Absolute worst customer service experience in my life: I spent three days on the phone with a very helpful pre-sales guy named Steve. I had gone through the credit application and even decided what car I wanted to buy – we had gone over the pricing and we already agreed on how much I was willing to put down and we worked out my monthly payments. I wanted to find out how much my used car was worth to see if I could use some of that as a down payment – if not -- I would simply use cash as a down payment and sell my used car to a private party. I made an appointment to come in and have my car appraised Saturday morning 12-5-2015. Upon arriving at the dealership I found that there were four sales reps fighting over me and none of them had a clue as to why I was there. For some unknown reason the pre-sales team and the sales reps do not communicate or share information. So all of the work I had done the last three days with Steve in pre-sales was irrelevant. They were not interested in having my car appraised and were only interested in having me drive a new car. While test driving the car I was treated with absolute disrespect from a rep named Mike. He had no idea who I was nor was he aware of my finances that I had already taken care of over the last three days with Steve in Pre-sales. He said to me “why are you test driving a car you cannot afford” then made several other rude comments. When we got back to the dealership I kindly asked if I could please just get my used car appraised. Which I asked for over an hour ago and it was still not being done. Then a slimy sales manager comes up to me and start telling me all of the things wrong with my used car. I said I am not here for you to tell me what’s wrong with my car -- I am here to see what you will give me for it if I decide to trade it in. He then continues to talk crap about my 2002 BMW 540i in a very patronizing manner. At this point I had enough of their lack of communication between departments and their constant verbal abuse so I said I was leaving – the slimy sales manager named Dave follows me out side and calls me names and flips me off as I am driving away in my old car. I would have driven off the lot in a new car Saturday if I was treated properly – please go anywhere else on the planet to buy a car these people do not deserve your business.
