I shipped by bike from overseas, and took it to these guys for a service. I was willing to have a lot of work done, and asked them what they could do. Without even looking at the bike (next to me), they rattled off some generic servicing fee. I said that the drive system could be probably be cleaned up, but they just werent interested. I would have appreciated more service. They could have said, "you could have this done", or "you dont really need to do this". I expected expert advice, and asked for it, but got none. Not even an overpriced quote for work I didnt need. They just were not interested. I ended up putting the bike in for a basic service, giving them the benefit of the doubt. After all, one poor assistant might not be representative of the company. There were a few things that obviously needed some further attention on the bike. For exampe, the tyres have a very slow leak. This wasnt addressed, and nor did they offer to so anything, or sell me new valves, tubes, or inspect the problem. Unfortunately, when I returned, they were equally nonchalant. As he handed the bike back to me, the other assistant could see that the tyres were not fully pressurised. He even felt them, and I could easliy see that they were a bit soft. This wasnt even remotely concealed, he did it right in front of me. At this point, I decided that its not worth even making a point. I will be taking my patronage elsewhere.

This shop has been very good to me for many years, and I am really perplexed by reviews that say anything different. They helped me with a difficult restoration of a `69 Cinelli, crash replacement parts on a modern bike, custom bike builds, and untold repairs and wheel building. These guys know their business, and its one of the few shops where Im confident that they know a lot more about bikes than I do. Is it more expensive than mail order? Sometimes, but certainly not always. Beyond that, getting a "deal" on the wrong parts is no deal at all. Does that headset have the right stack height? Is the spoke length correct? Is the bottom bracket taper and axle length correct? Does the bike fit correctly? Are you completely sure about that? Ive moved in and out of the area over the years, I keep coming back because they are helpful, fair, and genuinely know what they are doing. At one point while living in Europe, I bought a bike there when I was on a visit home to the US. Vance helped box it up for shipping, and it was easier (and cheaper) than buying the same bike in-person in my host country. Cupertino bike is not just a shop - its a resource and a museum if you really look around. I would encourage any roadie or triathlete in the south bay to give them a try.

Ive been coming to Cupertino Bike Shop for some 20+ years and have always had a great shopping experience. Whats special about this locally owned bike shop is the depth of knowledge and experience that the staff has. Plus if you are looking for that slightly older hard to find bike part, chances are they have it or know where to find it. Cupertino Bike Shop also has a great selection of the latest bikes and components available at a fair price. Another awesome thing about the shop is that it has the feel of a bike museum. With many bits of history and vintage bikes on display to look at and appreciate. Its a special place I would suggest popping in and checking out. You might even get a nice cup of espresso for your effort.

Bike shop is a joke. (1) Carefully described noise problem. (2) They "fixed" it for $60. (3) Rode the bike for 50 yards and the problem was still occurring. Clearly, the mechanic never rode the bike, never really heard the noise, and thus never really knew what the problem was in the first place. (4) Went back to the store: mechanic tried to explain that the problem was occurring in various unrelated parts of the bike -- none of which made sense. Classic case of a bike shop where the mechanics dont take the time to really figure out problems -- or even the time to ride the bike to make sure they understand whats going on.

Recently, while biking I had a puncture in my tubeless. I found the service pathetic - despite pay hefty price to just put a tube in, they had high schooler, who had no clue about bike, do the work. Their whole attitude seemed to to milk rather than provide service. Btw, this was my second visit - the first one was a few years back and I had similar experience. I thought, that previous trip might had been an exception - but i was wrong. Right after that, I went to bike outfitter. And what a pleasant experience those guys provided. Avoid these guys.

Ive been going to Cupertino Bike Shop for a very long time at a few different locations. Ive always gotten top notch service, most recently for a rear wheel re-lace. They also stock an amazing selection of parts for old Campagnolo equipment, which has come in very handy for me. I was a little disappointed to see that their latest move puts them a lot farther from my house, but I will continue to use them as my primary resource for parts and repair. And when Im someday ready to pull the trigger on that new Cervelo, this is where Ill be headed. :-)

The techs at this shop really know their stuff. I fancy myself to be a pretty good amateur mechanic and when I get stuck on a problem that I dont know how to solve, I bring my bikes here. More than once, the tech working here was able to resolve a problem with less than a few minutes of investigation. The shop rates are fair and often less expensive than Chain Reaction.

Ive been here a few times. They are less pricey than the Chain Reaction shop in Los Altos. I took my bike their to repair a flat close to closing time and they didnt turn me down. I had called other local shops which rushed me since it was close to closing. Overall good service!

I needed a relatively esoteric part and they had it in stock. It probably cost them more than it cost me to find the part. Good service, very knowledgeable staff.
