A great local bike shop. Theyve really started carrying a little bit of everything, not just road, hybrid/commute, and mountain bikes, but also less common stuff like recumbent trikes (Catrike) and cargo bikes. My wife has been taking her bikes here for at several years, the first time to bring one back from the dead -- it hadnt been ridden in many years (and two moves) and needed a lot of help. It was a mountain bike she wanted to start using as a commute bike, and they did a great job of keeping that almost 20 year old bike going. More recently I took my equally neglected bike in to be revived and they were great about calling when they encountered something unexpected to see if I wanted then to fix it or ignore it. They also fixed a problem Id been having with the bike years ago and completely forgot. Weve both since bought new bikes there. Great local store.

I love dealing with The Bicycle Garage. Their roots go back a long way in Fremont while other stores have come and gone. Its unfortunate people come onto these forums and create blatant stories about such poor service and how great another shop is, all in an attempt to draw publicity to someone else. Dont get me wrong, as we all have a bad day now and then Im sure some people didnt get the 5 star and white glove service during a visit to this shop. Like I said, we all have an off day now and then. But if this shop was truly as bad as some people wrote with a clear agenda of besmirching this shop, its not possible for The Bicycle Garage to have been in business for over 15 years and have such a loyal following going back over 25 years. Their wealth of knowledge and expertise is hard to beat. They have a fan and customer for life with me.

Went in looking for a 2.25 presta valvetube for a mountain bike. The guy briefly looked at the shelf, said he didnt think they had one, and then said I could use the next size smaller and that it would have to stretch. That was the end of the conversation because he just walked away without saying whether they would get more in stock or maybe another shop where I could get one. He really just walked away to talk to somebody he knew that entered the store. It was a strange episode of poor service. I would love to support a local bike shop, but I guess if they dont even have a wide variety of tubes in stock I wont have a reason to go back. But Fremont is not a bicycle community, so they cant afford to have a large inventory. Understandable. But they also cant afford to not hire people with a decent service ethic.

Received excellent service when I purchased 3 bikes here this past week. I was at the store two seperate times before going back to actually buy and all 3 times I was approached right away by an employee asking if they could help. They were readily available but not pushy. This is the first time Ive made a serious bike purchase and was a little worried that as a "newbie" Id receive a condescending attitude from experienced bikers at a dedicated bike shop, but could not have been more mistaken, they were very patient and were happy to help me make a fully informed decision. I highly recommend this local shop!

Very straight forward and to the point. Not a lot of fluff. If you like to be wine and dined or fawned over, then this might not be the place for you. However, if you want knowledgeable people who dont sugarcoat things then youll be at home. I asked questions with some preconceived notions from casual conversations about bikes with friends and he set me straight right away and helped me get the bike I needed. If I was a sensitive guy I could have been offended by how quickly he dismissed my opinion, but I appreciate is straight to the point manner as it resulted in a quick and informative visit.

Ive been a customer of Alan and his team at the Bicycle Garage for the past 26 years, from the F&M days at the Hub, to Start to Finish on Fremont Blvd, to Thornton and now on Mowry. Ive had every one of my bikes worked on, parts ordered, parts replaced, advice given and have always left fully satisfied with the friendly and hostpitable help that I receive. Persistence is a strong attribute of every good cyclist, and the Bicycle Garage is a great place to ask for help with your cycling needs.

I have been a serious road cyclist for over 25 years. I want a bicycle store where they are extremely knowledgeable, friendly and will take the time to serve you well. The owner and/or his partner are always there and are 100% hands-on. They love bicycles and it shows. I go there even when I might find my bicycle or parts cheaper online because the service is excellent and I can be assured of getting exactly the right part with the right fit. The best bicycle store in the Bay Area by far!

I called and talked to one of the employees at the store about a unicycle. I got a quote for it. I drove all the way down there from San Leandro, and it turned out that guy quoted me wrong. However, no one was willing to step up and honor the quote. They didnt try to apologize for the mistake, neither did they try to offer me any reasonable discount on the new price. I was very disappointed at the way they ran their business and treated me at the store.

Ive been a customer of BG for years. I keep going back because of all that I learn everytime I go in the shop. The staff takes their time to understand what you need and they make recommendations at all price-points rather than push you to get the most expensive. Today I purchased clipless pedals and shoes. The staff installed the cleets and showed me how to use them out in the parking lot. Awesome guys (and gals).

Terrible customer service. I went into there to buy two bikes. Bought nothing due to the owners lack of care attitude towards my wife and me. He was probably really busy seeing how we were the only customers in the store. No problem, I went to Castro valley to buy the bikes. Ive had a few of the guys true wheels before with good results. Have a good inventory, but I drive out if my way to avoid patronizing them!

After reading these reviews I feel compelled to comment. These are great people, they provide excellent service and they have saved me a lot of money over the years. I feel well treated always and am very impressed by their work. Disregard any comment less than a three made here. Sometimes people get busy. If you dont do business here, you are the one missing out.

I went down there today to get a rear rack for my beach cruiser. I could have easily purchased one online but because its a cruiser I was worried about proper fit. The employee not only pointed out which one would work they put it on for me too, and its a good thing they did because it required some drilling to make everything line up properly.
