I am gonna start by saying this isnt the first time this has happened to me at his location. I was in the Neighborhood and I figured I would go in get some new toys for my dog while I was there. when I had a question about something I was looking at there was no staff to found anywhere on the floor. I went to the Cat section, still no staff. Went to the Fish section downstairs and the only person who was there told me that is a question for there dog trainer. ( so he didnt know how to answer my question and said some ridiculous to get me to go away.) Then I went to the Grooming section for help. and then i was told there was someone upstairs to answer these question. I went back up Stairs, and grabbed what i had a question about and looked again for an employee. still none found. went to ask one of the people working the register, and as before they were unable to answer my question. Again i was told that there was someone in the dog section on the floor I could ask. (there was not) This is a very Disorganized store. at this point I dropped everything i was going to buy at the counter and walked out. I spent over thirty minutes in Petco just to get no help and told by people who work at a pet store that they dont know anything about Dogs...? I was not asking a medical question, it was about nylabones. there is an entire wall devoted to them. I will not be returning to this Petco or any other.

My experience with this store is one of the worst I have ever had in my life. Less than a week ago, I purchased a chinchilla from this location. Before I bought one, I did all the research necessary to make sure I could accommodate my new pet. About 2 days later, I noticed my chin becoming lethargic. Initially I thought he was just tired, so I kept a watch on him that day, and noticed his condition declining. I called Petco, since on my adoption form they had said they had veterinary services available. They agreed to hold him and have their store vet, whom they touted to be "the best" look at him, and they would give me a call. I waited for 2 days. 2 DAYS!!!! During these 2 days I lost sleep and barely ate, worried about my pet. Finally, when I called them, I was brusquely told that my chinchilla had died overnight THE FIRST NIGHT HE WAS THERE. AND NOBODY EVEN HAD THE DECENCY TO CALL ME, AS PROMISED. These people dont care about animals, only profit. They mistreat, or just plainly neglect the animals they sell there, as evidenced also by the fact that when I went there one time, one of their hamsters was dead and being eaten by its cage mates. I will never EVER EVER again shop at a Petco, let alone this one, and I strongly urge anyone looking to purchase a pet from this store to turn to a breeder instead.

My issue is Petco grooming in Union Square NYC. I was not going to say anything but after seeing the story that aired today 5/21/15 on Good Morning America, I feel I have say what happened to my dog. I have a toy poodle and not only did not groom him the way I wanted, they are the only groomers I have ever taken my dog to that dose not know how to do clean feet. But worst, was that the groomer nicked my dogs scrotum and cost me an additional $150 in vet cost, after spending close to $200 grooming my poodle and other dog. While the groomer that handled my dog talked a good game, she was very careless with my dog. I have also seen her while grooming other dog and doesnt pay attention to what she is doing and seems like she doesnt like her job. I will not take my dogs there ever again.

This review is actually about a trip to the store made last year so I’m not sure if they are done with their renovations. So they were renovating the time I went and everything was just disorganized. The price tags and sale signs were mixed up, which shouldn’t be a problem except no associate was able to verify the right price or discount. Three of them huddled in front me discussing which was tagged first, what discount expired, who should’ve taken what down, etc. The experience of watching was somewhere in between hilarious and frustrating. Needless to say, I brought my business elsewhere.

Place is horrible. They never have enough staff. Fish are sick. My husband knows fishes very well. Untrained eyes are deceived. I dont know how they are open Another thing. I take the family dog for the pet costume party. Been about 3 years. I do it for my son. Nour point. People do not go.... last 3 years they give the prizes to friend family and coworkers. Ive seen alot of dog that deserved to win and they dont. I just found out that durst place winner this weekend was a coworker. How is this fair. I dont care if I lose. But not if its set up. Not fair to travel far for nothing.

Well stocked store that I shop in along with the little girls. One thing I can say about Petco, they didnt force their way into neighborhoods and push the little girls out, they work along side them and they still make a profit. For that reason alone, I shop here. Listen up big box stores, model your stores after the little girls like the full figured Petco, keep your staff knowledgeable, friendly and laid back and you will find that folks will flock to your stores. We want to feel wanted, we want personal experiences while we hunt for items and Petco fills this bill. @Hallphenix

Searched online for backpack carrier for my pets. My need is immediate so went to local Petco on Bway in Manhattan. Item I really wanted was not listed on Petco website, but took a chance that store would have similar item. I actually found the brand item I wanted, but price was FORTY DOLLARS above average retail!!! My second choice was also there, at TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS above average retail! CHECK PRICES BEFORE PURCHASING FROM PETCO! P.S. I did not purchase there - found it online from Target and with overnight shipping, it was still 23 bucks under the Petco price.

They are great for their prices thats for sure but sometimes it really may be hard to find available staff...there was only one girl downstairs stationed at grooming and one guy upstairs unloading back in the cat section while helping customers and like 7-8 cashiers. I had to wait for the two women in the cat adoption area to finish speaking with customers to ask them questions. They do have an amazingly great amount of cat food, huge variety! Toys? Not as extensive. One more thing, the store is super dull..I wish theyd renovate, or at least try some brighter LEDs..

I received a phone call by one of the most rudest person to hold employment handling house hold pets, in history! And she gave me a mean snotty attitude over forgetting to cancel my puppys appointment, and hung up the phone before I can offer an explanation. My puppy got injured n so I rushed him to the hospital (banfield) and as soon as I got home the groomer called n expressed her attitude! Smh! My little Ducati will never get serviced there and ESPECIALLY by that woman ever!! Im taking him to petsmart and happy paws!
