The other reviews are obviously written by employees or owners of Ables Pawn Shop. This place is the biggest rip off place around. The store itself may be clean but the dealings they do are down right dirty! My boyfriend wanted to trade an old guitar for one that they were selling. They agreed to a layaway since the new one was priced at more then his trade in was. He asked if they would store the new guitar in his guitar case while it was on layaway so it wouldnt get scratched until he came back for it with the remaining balance he owed. He went back later and explained that he found a better deal on a different guitar and didnt want to purchase their guitar after all. Not ONLY did they renig on what they said his trade in was worth, they refused to give him back his guitar case saying that was part of the trade and he would have to purchase it back from them if he wanted it! When he wanted to pawn a diamond ring they offered him one price, (very lowball) so he left and came home to ask me about it. I agreed it was a low price but knew he needed the money. so he went back the next day to pawn it and this time the SAME GUY only offered him half of the amount he was quoted the day before!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Steer clear of these robbers!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to the one in Waukegan to check out what they had for musical equipment, I was in the market for a small bass amp and Im always on the lookout for new deals. It was one of the worst experiences Ive ever had, the sales person never left my side despite repeatedly telling him I just wanted to browse. He kept trying to push very low quality and over priced amps on me and I eventually got fed up and walked out while he was telling me how great this Gorilla Amp was. Seriously, I know my stuff when it comes to music gear, and I walked in there prepared to drop some money if I found something that interested me.....Ill never go back to that place.

Extremely I mean just a bunch of dirt cheap workers who have no class at all without even saying hello they try to beat you down on what you bring in they seem proud of the fact that knowing most people are in need of money or they would not be selling valuable items they try to find the smallest scratch and must knock off bucks, knowing that most people know things from a pawn shop arent in perfect condition as long as they work properly is the main thing, I would go without food or medicine before I gave them any business, go to FAMILY JEWELRY AND LOAN there they treated me right and were very polite. half star if I could

Ill never go back there again after finding out what they charge for video games. Its supposed to be a pawn shop, not a retail store. For video games, they reseal everything so you cannot see the condition of the disc or whether its complete with manual, inserts, etc. This is 2016 and charging $10 dollars for a regular Xbox game that came out in 2004...12 years old!!! NO THANKS. Ill continue to go to EZ Pawn and other resale shops. Maybe if they cut down on what they spend on radio ads, theyd have better prices???

I had a great experience with Able Pawn Shop. I checked the other pawn shops in the area first. This one had more selection of guitars by far and they have Larry. When I went to EZ-pawn the salesman sat there dusting a dvd player while I waited for him to help me. At Able Larry greeted me as soon as I came in. He asked a few questions and found just what I needed. I got a new guitar for what they were charging for used ones at the other place. I couldnt be happier. Thanks Able pawn shop and thank you Larry.

Did lots of business with them, showed up 5 min before they closed, after doing 5000$ in business over past 3 months, and I had a quick item to pawn, they told me to get out and then after being rude offered like 10 bucks for a 600$ tablet. They treat you like a crack head, but they are the crack heads. I drive bmw, I wont do anymore business with them and neither should you. Plus I learned they lied about diamonds and stole them from me cause I didnt know any better. Waukegan skum.

I went in looking for a Cello for my 11 yr old daughter. They did not have one but after explaiNing her passion for music and needing a full size guitar they worked with me and explained difference on brands and quality of guitars, gave me a good deal as well as got me a great case. People very friendly and helpful. Have referred several of my daughters classmates parents to go check out their musical instruments.

I tried to pawn a few Playstation 4 games and blu ray movies and they said they didnt buy that stuff and as the woman said that, I looked right behind her and saw MUCH OLDER video games and movies than the ones I was trying to pawn, for sale at their store. They lost money because of that. These people suck. Go to EZ pawn instead. EZ pawn is way better.

I LOVE ABLE PAWNSHOP !!!!!! I dont know what those morons are talking about. Ive been going there for years. Ive always gotten GREAT deals there. Everyone there has ALWAYS been nice to me. Of course if you go there with an attitude, youre going to perceive every thing negatively, and the way people treat you is a reflection of what they see in you.

Brought in my ps4 for a loan there and the staff was very nice and friendly especially the lady that works there, bought a game for myself and was pleased to see that they were willing to work with me with the price, will be returning whenever im in need of some extra money or a great bargain!!

Completely rude, one employee laughed in my face when I asked a serious question and was of no help to me. Never going back! Other places have better prices and if youre trying to sell something theyll give you the lowest price in town, I would suggest going to any other store.

I HATE ABLE PAWN SHOP. Everyone there is a rude a**hole. You would think that if they want your sale/money/etc that they would be nicer, but that is definitely not the case. Worst customer service EVER. I will never go back here again!

Was a good place. With wonderful customer service. Friendly workers and everyone worked with every customer that walked in the door to make sure they walked out with the money they needed. Great place highly recommend.

The absolute worst place I have ever been to they treat you with such disrespect and want to give you Pennies on the thousands of value. If youre truly in a pinch and need Fast Cash youd be better off calling me!!

Always love to check out pawnshops, but this one is one I simply didnt like, mainly because of the service! :( try EZ pawn or better yet J&E Exchange in winthrop harbor theyre super nice & honest guys up there
