I went into this shop because I was trying to find a closer alternative to my usual bike shop, (traction bikes, formerly mikes bikes). I had snapped the bolt of my cranks and it was in the spindle, they said they had a crankset that they could sell me for 90 dollars but they would need to order it, they said they would have it by the end of the week. They called, and said I would need to order a new bottom bracket to work with the new cranks, I had suspected this was the case, but I would have preferred to be notified of this BEFORE I spend a bunch of money on new crank arms, they said they would have my bottom bracket the next day, it was over 2 weeks before I came in to pick my bike up both because I was too busy to go there and because I knew that the eta on the bottom bracket was BS. When I came in, they didnt have the bottom bracket, and were extremely rude about it. I decided to take my bike to my usual shop where they stocked the bottom bracket, said it would be done in 2 days, and ended up finishing it the same day. They seemed to have a good selection of mountain bike frames/bikes/parts and their parts prices were relatively cheap, but their customer service is crap

Called this shop looking for black Mavic Open Pro rims. Talked to Jose, he told me they had some in stock and the price was $44.00 ea. I thought "Great, Ill run down and get a couple". Went there the next afternoon to purchase rims. Jose did have the rims. He NOW has to look up the price, and the price is now $70.00 each. What a scam. I asked "Do you remember the price you told me on the phone yesterday?" He said, "No, I said I wasnt sure". At this point I realized what I was dealing with. Well Im sure you wont see me in that bicycle shop again and Ill tell every cyclist I know to avoid this place, and you would be wise to do the same. On a side note...While I was waiting for Jose to look up the price, there was a guy in there who was so drunk, he could hardly stand and his speech was so slurred I could only make out about thirty percent of what he was saying. I dont know if this drunk worked there or not, because there were a few people just hanging around. But no one took any action to make him leave. I would rate this business zero stars, they didnt do anything right, but I have to give it one or else they wont accept the review. Youve been warned..

Brought in a scooter at 11:00 AM to replace a brake cable. I was informed the cost would be $20 for labor (a 15 min job) plus parts ... maybe $35-$40 in total depending on what had to be done. (Well it was for a visiting grandson, so who cares about a $20 markup). "Ill give you a call" the owner said. "Should be done before 3:30 P.M. At 3:30 I called and asked how it was going. "Should be ready in a half hour". I decided to do another errand because he sounded like he was running behind. At 5:00 P.M. I arrive and waited 15 minutes before my presence is even acknowledged. The owner says, "Hey, do you know you are missing a bolt. If you want, I can see if I can find one to fix it." What I want is a fixed brake cable and a sense of responsibility for our agreement. I asked him to just give me the scooter and all the parts I brought in to help with the job. After some grunting and scowling on the part of the owner, I decided at that moment to write this review to advise you of what you might expect at Danville Bike.

I have bought three bikes here over the last ten years. Never had a particularly bad or good experience, just wanted to be loyal to a small local shop. First time I had an issue, I recieved terrible service. I took a bike in to ask a question about it. They did not have time to do anything then so they took it and would give me an "estimate". I picked it up and they charged me $20 for an adjustment that I had not ordered. Got it home and the back wheel fell off -- found a bunch of metal shavings in the hub -- they had not reassembled the rear wheel properly. Basically they charged me to ruin my bike. After a couple of heated conversations they agreed to fix my bike. Although they did partially fix it, it still is not back to the condition it was in prior to them working on it.

Dont have your bike serviced here!!! I have given this shop two chances. Sorry guys! I know Jose is a decent bike mechanic, but the shop does not take care when servicing bicycles. Not finishing the work on the ticket is one problem, but also the quality of the jobs is poor. True wheels are not true, not replacing rim tape... little things like that could be an extra touch letting the customer think their money was well spent. I paid for break pads that were never replaced. Should I go on. This happened once a year prior and I went back just because they are close and convenient. I will NEVER go back to this store again.

Well guess you cant please everyone but this shop does deliver. Extremely knowledgeable and fun staff. Have had things repaired no charge at times and get good advice from mechanics while they are working. Its nice to have the owner in the shop the majority of the time as you can deal direct with someone who can make a decision. Good tire and parts selection and able to source things in a reasonable time. Entire staff rides alot and is in touch with the industry, defiantly not a bunch of elitist like some of the other shops in the area..

Customer service is great, its nice to actually have the owner available daily. Prices are fair and even some great bargains. Had a friend who broke down on our way up Las Trampas with bottom bracket issues. The mechanic fixed it on the spot and NO CHARGE!. The other shops in Danville dont compare unless you just want to look at over priced bikes and have bunch of dirty fixy riders hangin around smoking.

Just bought my dream bike from them. They were the only shop in the area that had it in stock, gave me a great price, built it the same day and had me out on the ridge. The bike is setup very well and I have no complaints. Thanks guys!

The have got a good selection of Giant bikes, but the store is a little crammed. Robust and cheerful store manager and a couple of kids running the place. Decent.

Bought a Giant XTC 29r and love it. They gave me great service and a very fair price. If mountain biking is your thing, Danville Bike is your store;)
