I recently got back into the aquarium hobby with a 20 gallon setup. I went to Petco (lakeshore), both "Pet Supplies Plus" locations (pelham and green springs), and finally to the Pet Supermarket in Vestavia. This is THE place to go in birmingham for your fish. They have a good selection; the fish are kept in good conditions with plants, substrate, etc. (not the bare glass tanks), and the staff actually know something about the fish. If you are in Bham, there really is no other choice for populating your aquarium.

I used to love this store. The employees I encounter are just not that friendly. I go to all pet stores and this store is just not up to true others. When the previous manager was there(blonde lady) she seemed to hire caring people. My fur baby and I just quit going.

Not the closest place for me to get food, toys, treats (and recently adopt a kitten). But very worth the drive! Very friendly staff that take pride in their jobs and go the extra mile.

They have a great freshwater fish selection, but the warranty on the fish isnt as good as petco or super pets. save your receipts! Be careful before spending a lot on fish.

The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. Because it is a smaller store compared to the big box pet stores, Pet Supermarket has a smaller selection of products.

You can look for anything in here, they have amazing litter boxes and their toys for cats are really creative and very amazing, I would love to go back in here.
