Northtown Coffee is one of those places that is done so well that it defines what a genre of food/beverage should be for an area. Ive heard about it for years, but only recently had the chance to come and experience it. Having been here twice in the past 4 days, it is declared our favorite coffee spot for 2016! This spot is housed in the old train station and has maintained it with incredible integrity. You walk in and immediately see the incredible melding of the architecture from a century ago, interposed with a coffee shop that respects the past, but wants you to be 21st century caffeinated! I was most impressed by the fact with the seating and the number of different rooms they have available. Out front is the "Garden room" - a glass enclosure with foliage and plenty of outdoors type seating. Great place to sit back and relax! The interior has seating options including some large chairs and couches around a fireplace, plenty of traditional seating around the periphery and some larger group study spaces. Dedicated study and meeting rooms can be rented for $10/hour and provide an incredibly cool and convenient way to get things done. Perhaps the coolest things (from my better half and my perspective) is the Kids room that is located just off the main area. Tons of toys and books give the kiddos a place to get their play on, while you chillax with some boss espresso! The menu here is pretty expansive and includes everything from standard brew to cold press tea (think incredibly slow drip through ice!). For those who love their Stumptown - they gots Stumptown coffee! The iced options include normal and Nitro, both of which are lovely. The folks working the counter are totally chill and give this place an unexpected and welcome vibe. If you havent been here, you need to be. Whether pre-dinner espresso, a late night rendezvous or an eye opener to start they day, theyre open early to late, so theres no real excuse not to check it out.

I have to put in a good word for North Town Coffee. They serve Stumptown Coffee for all of their coffee beverages. They have nitro cold brew coffee on tap, also Stumptown brand. Their baristas are always friendly, although during very busy times seem a bit overworked. Dont expect sparkling conversation from your barista when they have a line of 5 or 10 people to take orders from and prepare drinks for. Food selections are limited, but the pastries are from a local caterers bake shop and are very good. Ive never been policed by their staff for bringing in food so long as I order a beverage. Their gelato is house made and in small batches. It is always fresh. They also experiment a little with different flavors, so it helps to be a regular to notice when they do a flavor change or experiment. This place is a very popular hangout for college students and students from the local medical school. Depending on the time of day, and proximity to mid-terms, you might find it hard to find a place to sit down with all the studying students. The cafe is located in the main waiting area of the old train station. The ceiling is very high and slightly domed, so the slightest noise and conversation echos significantly. It isnt exactly a super quiet atmosphere, but there are much louder atmospheres in a number of other downtown restaurants.

Great location and vibe. Has good gelato. Cannot recommend the coffee though--i have never had a cup here that wasnt bitter/stale. Its like the employees dont realize coffee beans go bad after a week or two--they still try to serve it. They brew coffee in large batches that sits for many hours. They do not do pour over drip coffee. Its hard to recommend a coffee shop when they screw up the very basics. But then, 95 percent of coffee shops make the same mistakes. But this is a place that markets itself as a premium coffee shop, stumptown beans, etc. As such its difficult to let them off the hook. What they should do is obtain beans here locally, keep track of the roasting dates, serve the coffee between days 3-7, offer pour over coffee. And stop relying on an out of town, overly hyped roasting company called stumptown.

Spent lots of time studying at Northtown while I lived in Yakima for school. It was nice to be surrounded by others doing the same with PNWU nearby. Their drinks were good, fast service and friendly staff. Their gelato was where it was at for me. I loved both the white chocolate gelato and pistachio! Really miss those! The bathroom is unkept, whether you blame the vintage charm or lack of upkeep, it just appears dirty and dim. The lack of outlets near all the seating is a bit frustrating as most of us came in with some sort of technology and spent long hours there.

In the bathroom only one stall was useable, others were clogged, out of hazel nut I get it it happens but how does a coffee shop run out of their supplies? Anyway menu has pretty basic coffee options, staff was pretty bland, ended up getting a different drink from what I ordered but at that point I was too irritated with that place i wanted to get out of there, and yes my coffee taste horrible.

Good coffee, wi-fi, power outlets, basically everything you need to get your studying done. Does get a bit noisy, but I just put the headphones in. They also have a kids room so parents can hangout drink coffee and let their 3-5 year olds play. In addition, its located in a beautiful historical building. Id study and get my coffee here before heading to a local Starbucks any day of the week.

Amazing! Was in town for a skills USA state competition, as the only lady of the group I forcefully made a group of young men enter this beautiful coffee house. I can honestly say both the guys and me found the service, coffee and atmosphere wonderful! I was quite pleased with this especially since they thought I was taking them to a Starbucks (ew)

I have had Stumptown espresso and coffee many times in Portland and it is my favorite. Unfortunately Northtown just dont do it right. Northtowns coffee is not even close to what other coffee houses brew with Stumptown coffee. It is bitter and weak and makes me think they are not pulling full shots or the machines are dirty and in need of a tune up.

I love their new place. Its great for a meet up and they have a conference room plus a kids room, which is an added bonus for sure. I love their gelato and smoothies, as well as their coffee. They are a great part of that area and community. Their Selah branch is wonderful as well and right off the Greenway.

Very friendly staff of rustic establishment with an awesome sunroom. Free Wi-Fi which is awesome I tried a white chai which ssl they allowed me to smell the tea before I drink it. The tea was absolutely heavenly big recommendation for this place its off the beaten path but well worth the trip

Good atmosphere but every drink order Ive placed Ive had to wait at least half an hour for it, even on a non busy night. Theres been a couple of times where Ive watched my cup just sit there with the ice melting in it while the barista was just socializing with someone else.

Decent coffee cool location, three stars based on that alone. However I had to order something I didnt want and yet still paid full price. Ive been to places that offer something else at the price of what you wanted. Not offer something else and have you pay full price.
