This place is great! The owners are a lovely couple from the area. Interior is beautifully decorated with some cool details. Rustic meets modern with the feeling of an old tavern mixed with bright contemporary lighting. Would love to see a big comfy chair added to the seating where I could spend my days reading, smoking a cigar, and drinking the black gold. The coffee is roasted in house (you can check out the roaster in display when you walk in). Nice selection of books too. Best place in town for quality coffee.

The roaster has perfected the art. They serve just simply, caffeinated perfection. Baristas are very friendly and know their craft. The coffee cake and other pastries are second to none. I hate give away secret nooks but this one is too good to keep. Great atmosphere to either just grab a tasty cup of coffee, to hang out and do some work or for reading.

Best coffee in Truckee. Ive been to every one of the places I think :) If youve been to the Dark Horse in San Diego and enjoyed it, youll enjoy this one too. Quaint, across the street from Jacks on the Tracks. Cool place to chill and have a cup of coffee. The people working here are passionate and love what they are doing.

The coffee was great! We stopped in here on our way back from Kings Beach. The staff is super friendly. The shop has a very unique touch to it with cool furniture, books and magazines, etc. They were even playing a vinyl while we were there! Excellent place, staff, and coffee. Definitely a recommended stop in Truckee.

Probably one of the most quaint locations in Truckee. They have some of the best coffee because they roast their own coffee beans. They also get coffee beans that are pesticide free which is not common in todays large coffee world. If youre looking for a cool local coffee place in Truckee this is the place to visit.

Awesome coffee and service! If Im in Truckee again, Ill definitely be coming back to Dark Horse. They offered quite a few different beans and made a delicious pour over. We bought a pound of the Ethiopian beans to go and were very happy with them!

Awesome vibe, good coffee, nice folks. Coffee Bar across the way had a loud, trendy feel to it; Dark Horse was chill, and had much, much better coffee. If youre a climber youre gonna want to turn this place into your pre-expedition meeting spot.

Customer service is good. Coffee is fresh roasted apparently right here in the store. I ordered a macchiato and didnt like it though. My wife liked her Guatamala roast coffee. Atmosphere is nice but not many tables. We waited for one to open up.

Great Coffee. Just like you get in San Diego. Never a long wait and the beans are roasted wonderfully. T-shirt designs are funny and awesome. Parking is very sparse. Nice stop after getting a heavy meal at JAX diner
