Pretty disappointing customer service today at Amazon bookstore in U Village. maybe we just got a clerk in a bad mood.... My daughter and I happened upon the bookstore while shopping (she remembered that she had received a gift card and happened to have it in her wallet). We live out of town. My husband had signed up our family email for Prime, but neither my daughter nor I had the app and were in a hurry (we were not aware that we needed it). She browsed around and picked out two items, We were near the checkout and the clerk asked us twice if we were ready. while processing the transaction, the clerk kind of rolled his eyes at us and when I replied that neither of us had the app on our phones at the moment, and didnt have time to download it. We were polite. I asked if there was any other way to find out the price, he suggested swiping my credit card to see if I had used it on Amazon Prime before (I had, but apparently did not work). The price difference was significant, so we ended up buying a small item on the card. Maybe we will use it at home with Prime, but I doubt Ill go into the bookstore again. I totally get that we were not aware of how the store works but this guy had all the charm of STEPHAN on Saturday Night Live. He was just so slightly condescending... I have a choice to shop at other stores, the merchandise is pretty much the same... I can buy a lousy paperback online and not have to deal with attitude.

Their selection is great, every book has some form of review thing, though they arent always helpful. Their prices are pretty low. Depending on whether or not they are having a sale online, the book might be cheaper than the cost on the jacket. Though, their selection can be inconsistent at times. There is no way of knowing if they carry a book before hand, which is fine if youre out for something new, but is really annoying if youre looking for something specific. One important thing to note is that they DO NOT TAKE CASH. You have to pay with a card, though gift cards work. There is a work around, where you can get a cash gift card from the local QFC (Its in the same strip mall), but that is also going to cost you $26 minimum (6 for activation, 20 is the minimum amount) which can be overkill if you only want a $10 book. Given the area, its not cutting off too much of the market, but it can be annoying at times.

Want to feel like an Amazon prime member without the fee? Then you can shop here and get book discounts without having to pay the prime price! A cool place to check out for Amazon fans and those who like to save on books. Amazons brick and mortar is a pretty cool experience, they rotate the books on display based on whats bestselling in certain categories. Theres also Amazons answer to apples "genius" bar, which has an employee to attend to your questions about kindles and other needs. There are screens for you to try out apps on the Fire and see other Amazon technology. They have a wall and window sitting area for those who like to fully read a book before considering buying it, but otherwise space is limited in this shop and not to many places to sit and read. Overall this is a bookstore to visit if you want to see whats hip and happening and grab a current gift for the avid reader in your social network.

Awesome store! Kids books are categorized by age with at most a 4 year spread, making it easy to choose an appropriate book. Prices are the same as online. All books are faced out, so you dont have to walk the aisles with your head cocked to read sideways titles. There are no prices on the books, but there are scanners everywhere so you can check the latest price. They sell 4.5 star rated toys and of course all the iterations of their own merchandise, like Kindles and Fire TV products. The childrens section has comfy grown up chairs and a kids play table with magnetic toys. There are benches near the magazines. The store overall felt a little crowded, but its worth visiting. I had no trouble finding an associate to help locate a book and no wait to check out.

I always feel a little guilty browsing Barnes and Noble, as I never buy a book, but just take a picture of books I find interesting to buy on my kindle. Amazons bookstore removes this guilt entirely. Even better, this bookstore uses Amazons data - they know what books people like. The bookstore is lined with these books and they all face cover out. That makes browsing a real joy. The aisles are densely packed, and moving around can be a bit uncomfortable. But the result is that you get to see a lot of good books on different subjects quickly and easily. If youre looking for a specific book, and it isnt a popular one, buy online or at a different bookstore. If you just want to browse, then you really cant do better than this.

How strange that the very online service that put an end to so many brick-and-mortar bookstores has revived the format here in Seattle! We love us some Amazon, though -- friends claim "If you cant get it from Amazon, Mark wont have it" -- so we had to stop by while in town. Inside, the place feels like the most engaging Barnes and Noble or Borders Books youve ever visited, but with every book in the place "faced" (that is, the books are displayed with their full covers showing -- like the thumbnails on Amazon -- instead of with their spines out). By design, the catalog here is not deep, but it is wide, and there is no better place to try out the latest Kindle hardware. Worth a visit.

Gorgeous store. Bookstores always make me feel happy, as if Im entering an oasis from civilization, and Amazons first brick and mortar shop does not disappoint. It features only the very best selections, with everything on display having been rated 4.5 out of five or higher from Amazons user reviews, and sections curated for Seattle and specialized interests. Nothing has a price, as prices always reflect Amazons online price, so there are scanners available to check for you, or you are encouraged to use their app and scan items (essentially doing what other stores would want to kick you out for). Also serves as a showroom for Amazons devices.

As a book lover, its amazing to see Amazon Books in a brick and mortar store. There are so many selections organized into easy-to-navigate categories. Love the display format, where all covers are out-facing, just like browsing a website. However, a shopper must have internet access and download the app to check the in-store prices. As a person without internet, its extremely difficult to have to take a book to the sparsely located price-checkers to check the price of each book. And the store is "paperless" and doesnt take cash. But overall, awesome.

Walked in the store at University village Seattle to purchase 2 kindle fire HD 8 tablets. This was around 615pm. As soon as I walked in and headed toward the vicinity of the cashier, she called out the other girl employee to watch me. Then the girl got closer to me and started eyeing and observing me. It was so obvious and in plain view. I purchased my 2 tablets and left the store with a very sore and disappointing heart. Wow. I cant believe that the profiling was done so openly . By the way I was even wearing my hospital scrubs. What a disgrace.
