Update to owners response: I am not making false accusations a relative financed the dog on her name not mine. And I am not here to socialize, I am here to write a review! WHO are your reputable local "breeders" ? How about you give me their names here in public?! My paperwork only has the name of the Kennels, so is not my fault that I am stating facts the store gave me. Real breeders would never mix breeds. It would defeat the original purpose of -breeding dogs- My Shih Tzu/Havanese that Fairwood said would be only about 12-15lbs actually weighs 23lbs at 8 months of age. You said the new owner has owned the place for four years but you had customers going there for three generations, so because someone buys a business with established clientele, doesnt make it legit. I called two days ago about the hernia Fairwood PC is supposed to pay for, that my puppy has had since I bought him, for which YOUR VET has records of. But now the person that called me back tells me that I pretty much HAVE TO GO THROUGH YOUR vet to get it repaired. The estimate from your vet for his hernia & neuter surgery was $185.00 and given their official price for neutering a male dog 25lbs (by their website) is only $80.00 then why would they charge me $100 extra?! Where is that money going?! I guess I was right after all. And the $40 you offered me does not even pay for my trip to pick it up. So thanks for the call back but you can keep profitting off people. His hernia was repaired & it cost me more than that. One star because I love my puppy, but honestly I have almost always gotten my pets from a shelter, so I feel guilty for getting a puppy from a pet store. I was hoping they came from a breeder instead of a Puppy Mill like I later found out.. Hopefully places like this close or become illegal. Although the customer service was not bad, I just feel like all they want is your money & to -pretend- that they care about the animals, but here are my thoughts: ~The puppies they sell are overpriced: mix breeds and "pure" breeds. At least for $1000.00 each. Red flag. ~They always have puppies available (real breeders usually cant!). Red flag. ~They dont care about what kind of home/owners the puppies go to, or if the person can even afford the life of a dog (expensive care) , they dont ask you questions that have to do with raising a dog. All they give you is papers to read. Red flag. ~ They refer you to a Vet Clinic that although offers good care, is also overpriced for their services, & your initial Health Visit (which you have to complete there in order to get the "warranty" for your puppy) will add up quickly, unless you remove items, but my estimate at first was around $400, I ended up paying around $200, and then another $100 & then I stopped going. Is all about the money. Red Flag. ~ After researching online, it says that these puppies come from Thunder River Kennels which is most likely a puppy mill. Red Flag! ~ I believe that my puppy has an anxiety problem, although he is healthy and joyful, he seems to be missing guidance from his mother, like it happens with Puppy Mills puppies, & honestly it makes it harder to raise a puppy that has behavioral/temperament problems, as not everyone has the time, experience and patience that it requires. My puppy eats his poop, and pees inside the crate, or contained area. This is behavior that pups learn at the "kennels/mills" and one of the reasons why YOU or someone buying them might end-up too frustrated to the point where you want to get rid of the dog. Red Flag. I have had great experiences raising dogs from shelters, as they are usually grateful for the chance youre giving them. Or find a breeder if you cant find a puppy anywhere else, honestly stores charge the same if not more. Dont feel bad about -not- buying these puppies, because when they pass their expiration/cute date at the store, they will end-up in a shelter; so the Puppy Mills wont profit neither will the store, and you are not opening one more cage for a puppy to fill in at the Puppy Mill that the store uses.

Puppy Mill Alert! I gave a rating of 3-stars based on the friendly staff, store appearance, and pet products offered. However, I will NOT shop at this pet center anymore because I refuse to fund a store who purchases pets from a mill. Yes, you heard me right. I purchased a Boston Terrier from this pet store for $800, received the registered papers and a free vet check-up at Fairwood Pet Clinic. We loved our new pet and so we went back 2wks later and bought a Miniature Schnauzer, again for $800 and received registered papers and free vet check. I was unsatisfied with the free vet so I went elsewhere. The vet was familiar with the pet stores practice and upon showing him my registered papers, he told me Fairwood Pet Center buys from a puppy mill and explained to me female dogs are bred repeatedly and are put down when they are no longer of service to the kennel. He told me any purebred can be registered. If you ask the store where they get their pups from, they wont give you specific breeder information so you can contact them. FYI- a "kennel" is a nice way of saying "puppy mill". These pets will be healthy for 2yrs and after that is when the real health problems kick in. Both of my pups would housebreak. I figured it was me so I paid for someone to train them-nope! My vet told me most puppy mill dogs are not trainable because they sit in a cage for their first 8wks sleeping where they urinate, then are shipped to a pet store where they sit in a cage until sold. This is why these pets eat their own fecal matter! They learned as puppies when they got hungry....yknow. From the window, the pets look so adorable but how they purchase their pets are morally wrong. If they lose a pet while it air-shipped its a $ loss but business is just money. At that kind of price tag ppl are just enabling them continue buying more. How come you never see a low supply of pets when you visit? They get ample restocks of the same breed from a puppy mill. Dont be fooled! If you want a pet, do the research and find a reputable breeder. $200 more and you could get a pet with champion bloodlines, CERF certified, registration and able to see the parents on site. Good luck!

I live in the area, so I wanted to find a place I can form a relationship with. My first visit.. I was not greeted. It took a minute for me to get some help despite only one other customer there. But thats fine, I introduced myself, and let them know that I wanted to keep coming here because of how close they are to me. I asked about there cichlids, but they had no idea on what kinds of cichlids they had. For my next visit.. I was not ackknowledged at all. I wanted to purchase some cichlids, but the first employee didnt know anything about fish.. So she said to talk to the other lady. I stood there watching the fish for about 10 minutes, the lady that was suppose to help me, was with another customer, she walked past me three times and didnt even say anything to me.. mine this is the same person i introduced myself to a week earlier. No hello, no ill be right with you. i felt invisible!! Then when she was done, she went outside to talk to somebody for 5 mins, then came back in a started eating food on the front counter. The whole time the other employee knew I had alot of questions, but didnt even check on me..At this time I was the only customer in the store!! I walked to where I could be seen and still no response no nothing? COME ON REALLY??? Now its been like more than 20 minutes in the store!! I walked to the front and the lady had her head down working on some paperwork.. I said thanks for your help, and they had the nerve to say your welcome!! COME ON REALLY??
