I have been shopping at this particular Kroger location since 2008. The prices and the deals are great, but the customer service, cleanliness, availability of product has deteriorated greatly. I use the natural foods section a lot, and many, many spots are gaping. This area could be a huge boon for Kroger since there is no natural foods store in Irmo, but it seems understaffed and is never well stocked. Daiya, milk alternatives, meat substitutes, and other specialty products will have a space on the shelf with a price tag but the space will be entirely empty. This has been going on for months now, and I have gone elsewhere for these products because Kroger has become entirely unreliable. The Frozen department is always in disarray, and is also frequently out of products, particularly frozen fruits. I went into the store two months ago and someone who I assume is a front end supervisor of some kind was screaming at the baggers and other cashiers across the checkout lines. This happened again a few weeks later, and is completely unprofessional. Hearing raised voices completely destroys the customer service experience. Recently, it seems that a lot of the aisles have been cleared of tables promoting particular brands, which is good, because it was far too crowded navigating the store. I hope this trend continues, and they start making the store more open and less cluttered. The produce section also seems to be low on product, particularly organic produce, and sometimes even when they do have it, it is not in optimal condition. Also, it is 100% inexcusable that a company with profits as high as Kroger is incapable of having enough baggers for EVERY open checkout line, but this problem is not unique to this particular Kroger. I imagine its difficult to retain competent staff, and I doubt Kroger offers a rate of pay or benefits that would make anyone want to stay. The only department that is consistently well organized, well stocked, has good service, and never has empty spaces is the meat department, so kudos to the people managing and running that particular department. Shopping at Kroger has become frustrating and unpleasant, and I have taken my business to Publix. I give two stars because the prices are good, and when items *ARE* there, they are the best deals for the area.

Looks like this Kroger Store has gone bad in the past year. See how latest reviews have changed. Look at mine below. Absolutely awful store to deal with. I had a $3 return of a rotten product. They refused to give me a cash refund, even though it was a Kroger product. Instead they gave me a worthless store credit card. I tried to use the card 3 separate times. All 3 times the card was rejected at their cash register. I returned to the service desk the same day and asked for my money back in cash. The service lady was very rude and refused to refund my money. I asked for the store manager, and he was a lame assistant mgr. who didnt have a clue. He said: "He would see what he could do?" After standing in the service lines twice, and long cash register lines repeatedly, I said "Just forget it, and keep the worthless $3 credit card." I walked out of the store fuming. I wrote a complaint of the Kroger website, and got a call late at night from an 800 number. Which I dont answer anytime. They left a message for me to call and gave a reference number. I called the next day. Went thru their dial 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 computer answering system and finally got a person. I gave her my reference number and she put me on hold. After 5 plus minutes on hold I hung up and dialed in again. The second person told me that they were too busy to take my call and brushed me off. I told them to forget about me as a Kroger customer. Ive been one for over 20 years and helped them get their store located in my home town. I even have the oldest Kroger Customer Care card used in my state. Ive overlooked being sickened by their spoiled condiments that put me in the hospital, seen them sell frozen foods that have been refrozen after a power outage, but this is the last straw. There are literally 10 other grocery stores within a 8 mile radius of my home, and I will use them instead of Kroger. SHOP AT KROGER AT YOUR OWN RISK!

TERRIBLE!! Im appalled by the experience we had last night and believe me when I say we will never return. After spending 20 minutes in the store getting all of our groceries (including a Starbucks drink which I began sipping on) we came up to the self check out computer and began ringing things up. Several items wouldnt ring up right and the woman kept asking us "whats wrong with it?" We were getting very frustrated and every time continued to tell her that we had no idea what was wrong and that she should know and be able to fix it. She was very rude. She then proceeded to tell us we could not use credit (I just got all of my card information compromised, got a new card and dont have a pin yet) Please know this happened after watching her assist another customer using credit with much less than us. She THEN proceeded to tell me she would have to get the police involved if we didnt pay for the stabucks drink... A $2 DRINK THAT WE HAD FULL INTENTION TO PAY FOR! Even after explaining our situation, telling her where I work, AND telling her I would leave my ID and come back to pay tomorrow if that was necessary - she still threatened me with the police. For a drink. Finally she charged my Starbucks AS CREDIT BUT WOULD NOT LET US GET OUR $37 WORTH OF GROCERIES with credit!!!! I would never do what she did to us, to anyone. And I deal with ACTUAL theft and situations like this on the daily. She handled things very very poorly and was extremely patronizing to us. My boyfriend stormed out telling her we would never return. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND WEVE BEEN COMING HERE AND SPENDING TONS OF MONEY HERE FOR YEARS!!! She was an older woman working the night shift (we came in around 11:45) TWO GREAT CUSTOMERS : GONE

Dear front end manager Sandy, Im not sure why you decided I wasnt worthy of proper customer service when I came to you for assistance with purchasing money orders. Your exasperated initial response to my request being "You know that you have to fill out paperwork" (was that a question?) When I acknowledged in the affirmative your subsequent sighs, huffs and puffs didnt go unnoticed. Sandy, you can huff, you can even puff but you cant blow my house down. I merely wanted to achieve the milestone of getting to pay off my student loans in FULL. Nothing can take away the elation of that moment. What an accomplishment, right Sandy?! Oh, you are upset because the proper paperwork to fill out isnt present and you have to upstairs to get it and come back down? Yeah, thats kind of crummy but did you really have to say "Jesus Christ, sigh" I mean... I dont think it was his fault. Is this because you actually work for the federal loan company and you just KNEW I was about to pay them off and youd be rendered useless? maybe that was it. Or maybe it was the fact that a girl with tattoos, piercings and firey hair was making you WALK UP STAIRS. Either way you should keep in mind that people can HEAR YOU COMPLAIN about doing your job. As I was waiting patiently for you to take 30 minutes to get me 6 money orders (that may be a record in slowness) did YOU notice I DIDNT so much as sigh? nope. not even once. As a local business owner myself, I realize the weight of my actions, words and energy. Just a reminder to you Sandy... you chose that job and if you hate it SO much, leave. I wouldnt recommend another customer service position tho.
