Purchased an N64 at this store in December and it gave me nothing but issues since day one. Granted that consoles from the 1990s are very old in the first place, this unit in particular was so visibly dirty on the outside that my gut gave me the early hunch that I may have problems. In the end, I did, but I digress. The line in the store was awkward and there was not much structure to how the employees seemed to be helping customers. It took far too long for anyone to ask me if I had been helped. However, the real issue was not the stale customer service, but the actual unit I purchased. Yes, it was dirty, as some systems that have age are, but this one seemed like its previous owner(s) failed to take care of it at all, and it had dirt in spots that seemed impossible to clean, almost as if the console itself had been rolled in dirt. I made the purchase and took the N64 back to my home and gave it a go with multiple games – froze with every game at varying times between immediately and 15 minutes. I know that cartridges can get dirty and prevent contact, so I did some cleaning with 91% rubbing alcohol and figured that would eliminate the constant freezing, even though it seemed odd that every single game froze in the same timeframe. Turns out it is not the games. It is the system, and when I attempted to bring it back for an exchange, or perhaps a refund, I was told that they give out store credit instead of money refunds or I could exchange for a different unit. The problem is that they didn’t have any N64’s in stock, and while the man who helped me out on my second visit was a great employee, he did mention that the unit itself was extremely filthy inside and was even surprised it was sold to me. He told this to me after testing the unit and cleaning it out. Moreover, it did freeze on them when they started it up. I was given another 30 days warranty but what good is a warranty if all you offer is an exchange for a product you don’t have in stock or in-store credit, when the faith of the customer is lost because you’ve sold them a broken piece of equipment? I know stuff happens, it is an old console and sometimes you get a bad apple, but after calling them up again, they offered for me to bring the unit back for additional testing and completely refusing to take my phone number so they can at least call us when they do have a system in stock. I don’t have the time for the constant trips back and forth just for confirmation of what we already know. I was able to purchase another console elsewhere and it works beautifully with every game I own, so it is definitely the system. The runaround was annoying. You need to provide full refunds to individuals if equipment does not work and you no longer have stock. My time is worth money, so is yours, so you can recognize that wasting it is not beneficial for anyone involved. Bad customer service over the phone is common, but in this situation, they seemed rude about it. What do you expect? You sold broken equipment and I had an employee admit that it probably should not have been sold to me. What a joke! Please clean and test everything you receive on a trade. Never shopping here again.

The people that work here are out of control. You can tell its a family run business by the way the treat people like trash and have Noone to hold them accountable. I called in wanting to inquire about selling a game, on the phone they told me all I need was the disc in good condition, and they have no use for the actual game case, just make sure the artwork on the front of the game is intact and have the disc be clean. I once again ask are you SURE I dont get any extra $ for having the game case as well he says he doesnt want or need the case with it.Ok, no problem. So i drive out there and walk to the front of the store, where all the employees were busy, and some big sloppy employee cuts his conversation with the people he was helping and asks me ," You selling?". I say yea and hand him the case, in literally 1 second he THROWS it back on the counter at me and says " game inside isnt the game in the case, I need the case ". I said sir I just called up not but 30 minutes ago and asked that specific question and they told me twice I dont need the case. He then gives me a look like Im a huge idiot in front of all the other customers and says " well there must have been a miscommunication because Im not buying that game without the case" he starts to laugh with the people he was talking to about my situation and i got really mad and just left. This is the 2nd time OUT OF 2 TIMES IVE EVER BEEN THERE where I.either wasted a trip or been treated very rudely by the people Inside. People wonder why so many businesses fail or people just go to wal mart? BC PEOPLE ACT LIKE THEY CAN DO OR SAY WHATEVER THEY WANT TO PEOPLE JUST BECAUSE ITS THEIR BUSINESS , AND IF YOU DONT AGREE WITH THEIR BENT LOGIC TOO BAD, THERE IS NO STRUCTURE TO HOLD ANYONE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS. STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE JUST GO TO GAMESTOP!!!!!

First, the only complaint - there is no service line... so people end up standing around waiting and looking confused. However, one often develops with 5+ people behind the cash register (which is placed oddly - being in the back corner), but I digress. Aside from all that Cool Stuff is the only place I shop for games anymore. The people who work there are gamers and have played a lot, if not most, of their stock - so you get great recommendations and tips. Ive been in Cool Stuff over a hundred times and NEVER had any obnioxious behavior, only a wait in line; which I really cant say about chain stores and/or some unnamed competitors. And the prices! Fairly consistently they have used games at 4-15 dollars cheaper than Gamestop or the other Video Game chains. There is, of course, an amazing selection of vintage video game goodness on display; from their great NES selection to that Genisis bliss - its all good. Another, often overlooked fact about Cool Stuff is the movie selection - they really do have a pretty nice set up of used DVDs - including a decent amount of boxset collections. Dont pass this one up, seriously, if your looking for older or newer games and movies - Cool Stuff has most likely got your back, and if not, check back tomorrow - they get new titles hourly.

I stop in at Cool Stuff every now and then. I used to go in there weekly the first couple years they were open. Once other stores like them opened I pretty much go there now. Lately the customer service at Cool Stuff has been horrible. MOST of the employees not all, are extremely rude. When you are trying to sell an item they pretty much treat you like you are lower class. Often times there is a line of people selling stuff and the girl calls out "NEXT!" and never makes eye contact, never greets you. I believe they fail to realize that the people selling their goods are putting MONEY INTO THEIR PAYCHECKS. You are buying items off these people, marking them up almost double to sell them. At least treat some of these people with an ounce of respect. Many time I have tried to purchase an items and have to wait near five minutes just to have someone even notice I need help because they are too busy doing their own thing behind the counter. And god forbid you ask an employee for help if they are already doing something. Go here as a last resort! There like 3-4 other stores just like Cool Stuff in the area that actually treat their customers with respect and appreciate their business.
