I was excited when I saw that Merrifield Garden Center made deliveries; however, prior to making the drive out there, I called to confirm that they delivered Christmas trees and to find out what the cost was. The representative that I spoke with on the phone told me that, for an 8 tree, the cost was $175, which included the tree and the delivery fee to bring the tree into the house. Hearing that, I drove down to Merrifield in Fair Oaks and selected an 8 tree that cost $86. At checkout, the sales representative told me that the delivery cost was $85 for the size tree that I purchased and the zone that I lived in. These charges with tax totaled about $172, which was in line with the information I received from the representative on the phone. I completed my purchase and scheduled my delivery for the next day. Then, 4 hours later, Merrifield called to tell me that they had to charge me an additional $90 because the $175 is just for DELIVERY, and is not the combined fee of the tree and delivery as I had been previously told. According to the sales representative I spoke with, this $175 is simply for them to put the tree on the truck, drive it to the house and bring it inside. When I told her that was not the information I had received earlier that day and that this fee was incredibly excessive for simply delivering a tree, she said thats what her Manager told her and that was their free. In short, my experiences with Merrifield this time as well as on previous occasions have been poor to mediocre at best. Their resources are not trained properly and always seem to be at a loss when asked questions, whether its about their sales, fees or merchandise. Although they do have some staff that are knowledgeable, this expertise seems to be limited to the plants section. Additionally, based on this experience, it is painfully clear that their seasonal support as well as Managerial staff are completely lacking in customer service skills. I will never purchase merchandise from Merrifield Garden Center again, nor will I recommend them to any of my friends or family. There are too many other options in the area to be gauged by excessive prices for similar quality products that can be purchased elsewhere.

I delivered a load of plants to this outfit. these come from Woodburn Oregon. where you can find a lot of different kinds. very good quality trees. let me tell you why the mark up. 3000 miles (4.00 gallon/5 miles to gallon) we use more fuel when cars dont let us over going up mountains, its called momentum. thats another reason prices are high. be nice to trucks. another reason , one store... not 400 box stores where they can by 50000 plants and get a better deal. do the math people. buy local. local families working hard and one truck driver going 3000 miles in 5 days missing my little boy every minute so there are beautiful trees for u to love or complain about prices. count your blessings we are free.

Ive lived in several different states and this is the best garden center that I know of. They have everything, including unusual varieties and some heirloom plants, lots of display gardens and ideas, garden related decorative items, hardscape items, pond and fish supplies and displays, tropicals and bonsai plants and supplies, a wonderful selection of perennials, and herbs. I live 7 hours away now, and still make time to go back several times a year.

Excellent prices and great service. The Plant Clinic has been very helpful over this past spring with assisting with ways to help my vegetables grow with the low sun levels. Its such a wonderful place to just stroll around and look at all the different plants they have in stock. Especially getting to see the bees and butterflies busy at work pollinating!

The staff is knowledgeable, but prices are 3 times what you could find elsewhere, locally at other nurseries or online. For example, crepe myrtle, found for 300$ a tree at Merrifield, closer to 100$ anywhere else. Good to look but very ambitious mark up. The company did not respond when I asked about if there was a reason for the pricing differences.

I felt like I walked into Neverland where I can bathe my company in them forever. Dogs were walking by, having a blast. One of the staff members was INCREDIBLY nice and showed us where the herbs were. The only thing I am upset about is the fact that Im jealous my backyard doesnt look like this place because I want everything.

I love this nursery, the staff is great, very knowledge and helpful, great selection of plants, shrubs, trees and almost everything else for your garden and patio. The store has many beautiful things as well. We got a beautiful tree there, good price as well and the staff was very helpful packing it in our car.

While it was hard to find someone for help, the grounds and shopping experience was worth it. I felt like I was walking into a Botanical Gardens. Ponds and water sources every where, koi, plants lots of selection and entertaining. I could sit around there all day to enjoy the view. lol.

About as good a plant and tree selection as you will find. Helpful and friendly staff, ample parking, and good open to close hours. Lots of gardening accessories sold too. Place is nice enough where you really could even go just to visit and view the wide array of plants!

Bought some house plants for my apartment. The staff is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Most of the plants are displayed alongside descriptions of what type of care they require. They also have handouts that tell you which plants are let friendly.

Great selection of indoors plants, including a bunch Ive never seen for sale before (some of these plants are much harder to find in Canada). The prices werent particularly good, but I couldnt resist getting a few interesting new plants. Will return.

Merrifield is always a great pleasure to visit. Dont go here looking for best prices but it is the best stocked garden center in the local area and it is truly a pleasure to walk around in the facility. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff too.

This place is very knowledgeable and have great selection. Only issue is you have to pay a premium for their knowledge, but Ill gladly do that since the other large home and garden sections in the area dont have a clue what to use or do.

Its one thing to think your "a plant expert", its another to make customers feel unwelcome and dumb for asking a question, I would never shop there especially after being slighted, called a pet name and laughed at by staff.

merrifield garden center has a large selection of seasonal plants and flowers. we bought a tree and have been very happy with how much it has grown. prices are reasonable.
