5-9-2016, 9AM --- Spent a total of $1700 on the Desktop I got from PC lap tops, I should of looked more into what i was getting i feel i got ripped off. The computer runs like crap compared to what it should do for that price. I bought the computer a year ago but was working out of state so never got to use it really, i finally got where I wanted to record videos and such and it wont do it, & when they built it they said it would. I told them this is what the machine was for and they just lied to me. a simple graphics drive update will give me spikes of 92% CPU usage and ive even seen webpages open spiking me at 65% CPU usage with ONLY that one page open and nothing running in the back ground except task manager. i got a super crappy CPU my old computer with a 2011 CPU ran better than this CPU plus that computer didnt have a SSD hard drive and it was faster. I could have bought a computer from Best buy for around $900 that would be faster than this one this CPU cant even compete with a i3, I could buy a i7 computer for like $900. I paid $1700 for this just the tower btw no extras were bought. My computer specs are as follows below: Windows 7 64 Bit professional AMD A8- 7600 Radeon R7 with 10 compute cores 3.10GHz 8GB RAM DDR3 Nvidia GeForce GTX960 2GB DDR5 Video Card 120GB SSD Hard drive 1TB hard drive. System is Liquid cooled as well. $1700 for all this it totally not worth it how it performs the CPU is a $80 CPU my old CPU came out in 2011 and it ran faster & better than this one I dont know what they were thinking. Im taking my computer in today ( 5-9-2016 ) to see what they can do to fix this. it just cant perform how they said it would, i should never see anything higher than 20% cpu usage from one single webpage thats ridiculous for this kind of money. UPDATE: 5-9-2016, 2PM took my PC into them today , and they pretty much told me they built me a PC that wouldnt do what I wanted it to do. and im stuck with it or i need to upgrade it which will cost me an additional $750 to get what i thought I bought in the first place. my other option is trade mine in and they build me a new one putting me even more in debt. I specifically told them i wanted to game and record videos to upload to youtube, they said this would do it, and now when im finally home not working out of state a year later and try my first recordings the computer is incapable of doing so, so ive spent all this money for something that doesnt work & they wont do nothing about it unless i spend more money on the computer that should have been built from the start for what I wanted. They literally gave me the worst CPU & motherboard you can get CPU goes for $80 right now motherboard idk but it is DDR3 not even DDR4.... So I got ripped off I didnt get what they said i was getting and paid for...... Stay clear of PC Lap tops, Its not worth the time im very unsatisfied. There are PCs at Best Buy for $900 That this computer cant compete with. even if i spent that extra $750 to upgrade it where they say i need to be it would be on par with a $900 computer at Bestbuy off the counter. so spend $900 at best buy not have a lifetime warranty or spend my $1700 original + $750 upgrade = $2450 for the same computer with life time warranty. Computers are obsolete every 3-4 years anyways so spending $1550 extra just for a lifetime warranty thats really only good for 3-4 years anyways cause the computer as a whole gets out dated is NOT worth it. just buy new and cheap every 3-4 years its cheaper and keeps you up to date.

The purpose of my review is to emphasize it is worth paying for quality. I purchased my new computer from PC Laptops this February (2016, 6 months ago) as the hard drive was dying in my previous one, also purchased from PC Laptops. I brought the old one in to get it fixed, but the computer was a bit old and far gone, so we decided to build a new one. I went with the solid state hard drive and most of what Daniel Fox recommended. I dont game on my PC, so I didnt go overboard on that side. I did get the 1 year subscription to Super Easy Backup, ESET NOD32 Antivirus, and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. My unit ended up costing $2538.00 before trade in value and taxes. This is more than I have ever spent on a PC before. Boy, was it worth it!!!! My observations: Booting up windows 10 on my old computer took about 3 or 4 minutes when it was not being slow. New computer; Windows 10 is up in about 11 seconds. I use a technical analysis program for stock trading called Telecharts 2000 published by Worden brothers. On the old computer it used to take about 2 minutes to load up the program, and then 5 to 8 minutes to download data over the internet. New computer: last Friday it loaded in 8 seconds and updated in 31 seconds. I timed it. I still use AOL for most of my email. The old computer took about 2 minutes to get to my AOL email. New computer; about 15 to 20 seconds or less. I thought I had slow internet. I had a slow computer. Last Friday a family member opened and Email that said it was from Publishers Clearing House. It may have been. She clicked on a link in the Email, and heard the computer say "Your system may be infected with Malware. Please call the phone number shown," blah, bla, bla. She closed the browser and email, and later told me about it. She was concerned; I was concerned, so I opened and ran Malware Bytes. In 3 minutes and 8 seconds it scanned like, I think it was maybe 128,000 files or more: no malware found. Thats peace of mind! If my files get lost, they are out there on Super Easy backup. The Antivirus program updates every time I turn the computer one, and then again every few hours with no lag in performance. I dont even know its updating until its done. It has taken me 6 months to properly say thank you to PC Laptops in Layton. THANK YOU guys!!! I LOVE my new computer. I dont know how many hours it has saved me, and will continue to save me in the future. I also love not questioning its security.

I came to PC Laptops in Layton because I was in need of a new laptop for school and editing video (I am a film student at BYU). I had heard good things about PC Laptops computers so they were the first place I came. I was helped immediately by the very friendly staff. I felt like they knew what they were talking about, and they were able to help me understand concepts when I didnt understand them. For instance, I knew about different kinds of hard drives and storage, and they didnt baby me about not understanding them. However, I didnt understand how RAM worked or what graphics cards were, and they were very effective at helping me understand those components of the hardware. They helped me build a computer that fit my needs and didnt hide the price from me at all. They also helped me get every discount that seemed possible. Everything was easy, transparent, and, in my opinion, fair. Based on my needs, I ended up not purchasing the laptop from PC Laptops (I ended up getting a Mac based on some of the inter-network type things I would need, based on my interactions with other Mac owners). However, the PC Laptops staff were understanding and didnt hesitate to continue to help me. I have had a few reservations about my experience with Apple so far. So while Im not going to abandon my current computer until I need to upgrade, I very highly anticipate coming back to PC Laptops and purchasing from them in the future.
