First and foremost I want to specify that this review pertains to the Optician located in this Walmart. NOT the vision center employees who sell glasses and contacts. Those employees were very respectful and nice when I called them thinking they were connected to the optician, they were very nice when correcting this assertion. I am very disappointed with the service I received from the optician today. Let me start off by saying that I know the exact coverage that my insurance offers. The exam should be fully covered and contacts are covered with a copay. I wanted to double check the amount I would have to pay today but The receptionist was busy with other people so when I got to the exam room I asked the Dr. she told me that a contact exam wasnt covered and that it would be $70. Immediate red flag so I said I was going to have to come back after calling my insurance. She told me I could stay and do the glasses exam which would be a $10 copay. I told her I didnt need glasses only contacts. She repeated herself saying it would be $70 so I said "and Thats not even including the price of the contacts." She immediately got frustrated raising her voice and said I dont sell glasses or contacts they are separate from us. YOU ARE LOCATED IN SIDE A WALMART, PEOPLE ARE GOING TO ASSUME YOU ARE CONNECTED TO THEM. But nonetheless I repeated I would have to come back but this time I got up out of the chair to let myself out. As I was leaving she told the receptionist that I didnt know there was going to be an exam fee, the receptionist said "well I told her over the phone." I thought she was talking about the $10 copay not $70! Also during our chat she said that the glasses prescription came with a contact prescription and it would be $70 for both. It occurred to me on my way home that last year she charged me separately for each one! Totaling $140+. I dont know if they mis read my insurance info or if they were just trying to rip me off again but either way Im extemely upset with the behavior of the eye doctor today. Anyways I went to another eye doctor and everything went just as expected
