The moment you walk in the door, the salespeople start hovering, hoping to talk you into a sale. They continuously "check in" with you, even if you tell them youre just looking. Weve bought quite a few items from Art Van in the past. But, our last purchase was just that- our last purchase. We bought an inexpensive mattress set to use in our guest bedroom. The set we were shown had a low price tag and looked reasonably nice with a soft quilted cotton top. But, when we went to pick up the set, they gave us a completely different mattress set. It was VERY cheaply made- the shiny polyester, very hard mattresses you would expect to find 20 years ago. I told them I was sure this wasnt the mattress set we bought. Our salesman, Tyrone, said "Oh, well, the tag was on the wrong mattress. This is the mattress you actually bought." I told him I wasnt going to accept the mattress and thats when it started getting ugly. My husband and I said we expected to get the mattress we were shown for the price we paid. Tyrone immediately started yelling, yes yelling, at us in the middle of the store- in front of other customers and salespeople. He was calling us dishonest, saying we were taking advantage of him, etc... No other salesperson or manager came out to put a stop to it. We were absolutely mortified that we were being berated for something that was completely not our fault. In the end, we did get the mattress we were shown for the price we paid, after threatening legal action for something that was even worse than a "bait and switch" scheme. It was a horrible experience and, in my opinion, this is a horrible business.

I agree with the other reviews. Go somewhere else. When they gave me my table they told me the box was damaged but they had looked it over and was sure it was fine. Said if I had any issues to just give them a call. Of course the top was damaged. So I called. They then told me I needed to bring it back! That if I had paid for delivery they would have brought me a new one but since I didnt I had to bring it back myself. I didnt see any reason to sit at home all day waiting on a table, especially since I work, when it would fit in my jeep. Finally after talking to 5 people I got them to bring me a new one. Its called customer service, and theirs is bad. The "leather" is not going to last I can tell that already. Its very cheaply made. They bashed the store next door saying theirs wouldnt last but I regret my decision to buy from art van. First time customer and I wont be back. UPDATE: The replacement table has a chipped lazy susan. You can tell it was from the factory because it has been glazed over. They will not let me take it back to the store and say they have to send a technician out and technicians come during the day while Im at work. Never buy from them. The last Lady I talked to suggested just returning it. I said I would close my credit card and she said they dont care.

I was impressed by the associate by the name of Tyrone? I located a floor model bed that I knew my daughter would love....but it was no longer available in the portage store. He found it at another store and agreed to have it shipped to the portage location. When I went in to check on when i would be available....I also asked the front desk lady if I could have it delivered...as I am on the 3rd floor and would have no help in moving it on my own. She said "no we do not deliver"....i thought that was odd...but said ok...borrowed a friends truck to move it....carried it all up the steps alone.....only for the VERY NEXT DAY to see them deliver a chair and table set to my neighbor!!!!!!!!!! I called and asked why this happened....and the manager told me they dont deliver floor models because they want to avoid damaging them.....BUT the funny part is the bed was so scrapped up from them shipping it...that I had to send pictures to the man that sold it to me....and without hesitation he offered me a $100 credit. This place is a joke....seems like they only care about the well off people that are returning customers and can drop a few thousand every trip!!!!!!!! I will never go back in that store!!!!!

We bought a living room set, cost was over 3,400.00. Beautiful. Called them about the cushions flattening down on why, he said to fluff them up. I was going to bring one of the cushions into the store and they said NO, we will send someone out. The guy came out and said to unzip the cushion, fluff up the batting, zip it back up. This did not fix the issue. None of us can sit on the couch, love seat or chair. We all get backaches pretty bad. This is a very beautiful set but they told us 5 years later when we bought half of our house furniture from them, that the living room set I bought is mainly for "looks" and not for sitting. SAY WHAT???? Seriiously???? Oh I was pissed.....We tried to get our warranty money back for not using the 5 year warranty and they said no, I used the warranty on a house call because the cushions on our 2000,00 couch was going flat. The guy did nothing and I do not call that a repair issue. We got screwed all around. I jsut bought a glider rocker for 600.00 and now that I just found this out about the warranty, I am returning the glider rocker this weekend.

In the past when buying at Art Van the sales people were over bearing but, it seems that they have got the message and backed off. My wife and I recently had need for more furniture so prepared ourselves for the sales staff and ventured back to Art Van. In the past we found the sales staff very persistent but they always had the best prices by far and we’ve been very happy with the quality. This visit was quite a change! The salesperson greeted us soon after we entered and actually told us to take some time to look around and he’d be nearby if we had questions. After awhile we found a Living Room set that we really liked. Our salesperson “Bernie” stopped by and asked if we minded him showing us a few things about the set that we liked. He went into detail regarding the solid structure of the construction showing us the strength of the set. He showed us the strength and durability this manufacture offered and why it would outlast anything in its price area on the floor. Bernie was very informative in a non-pushy way. We hope that he’s still working there nest time we need more furniture.

If you go there for furniture be prepared to be stalked and unable to look around by yourself or have any privacy to talk things over with your spouse. I specifically told the sales women and man that we were just looking as their selection was vast and wanted to pick out some favorites first..... Every 3 minutes or so it was "comfy isnt it". " thats a nice couch". " let me show you this over here ". Or the constant " lets see what you qualify for". My gosh it was so annoying we actually found a set we liked but because of the constant desperate harassment we took our business elsewhere. We just returned to look at mattresses which was a much better experience their machine that tells you what bed is best for your back is very helpful accurate and worth the extra time. I have back problems that have derived from have a mattress that was to plush for my body. Overall the mattress department was great not to pushy and very knowledgeable furniture part I would avoid or be semi mean to get people to back off as it truly is a big problem with that store.
