I cant believe what just happened to me. ***While shopping in Academy (TOWN CENTER - PEARLAND location) this PM (1/18/2016) I was approached by the store security at approximately 4pm. He appeared angry (almost hostile) and was very threatening. He told me that he was "watching me" and that he was "all over me". I asked him what did he mean? He said that he knew that I was in the store with another person and that we were working together. I told him that I was shopping alone and definitely plannned on paying for everything in my cart. He became very loud and disrespectful and repeated that he was watching me close bc my shopping cart was full. I asked him to show me this person that I was supposed to be "working" with. He then walked away. Of course, I went to a store manager, who took the same arrogant attitude and stance as the store security person. He told me that during this season a lot goes on in the store and he didnt owe me any additional explanation for what happened to me. He was so disrespectful and had no regard for what had just happened to me. So I asked for another manager. I remained calm and explained what happened to me to the second manager (who apologized) and gave me the name of the security person and of the first manager. ...I definitely will be following up. But for now, Im still in shock. 1/21/2016 - As a follow up, ...I cant get an answer when I call the corporate phone number, so Im going to the media. MY VOICE WILL BE HEARD!!! Im calling FOX26.

Husband was looking for a grill. We live 30 minutes away. He happened to be in the area so he stopped and saw a grill marked $149.00. He came back home and we went to Home Depot, and WalMart, and Academy was the best price. Although it was raining, I convinced my husband to make the drive for the grill there. I asked for assistance , and the associate agreed with the price. However , there was another tag on the handle of the grill, that was not noticed before, when he first came. The price he saw was on the outside of the grill. It was a sticker price tag, on the grill very securely. The associate was very helpful, but the manager would not honor the price that was on the grill. He offered to take $50 off the price, but in my opinion not how it shouldve been handled under the circumstances. The grill was clearly marked incorrectly. We used to go to that store quite often, have spent a lot of money in that store, but I will not be back. Theres one in league that is same distance. We left that store and will go to another store to spend our money.

I normally like Academy, that said my experience with this location is strictly limited to the footwear department. I just left the store twenty minutes ago wasting my lunch break. I did my research prior to my visit so I knew which design I needed ahead of time. I walked down the ailes more than once looking for the style Nike recommended.... Not only were they impossible to find (badly organised) but the employees didnt bother asking if I needed help. I saw three different employees in the department make eye contact with me and move on. They apparently dont want my money. On a slightly different note, Academy should consider the fact that not everyone has size 12 feet and place some smaller sizes within reach.

I use to love Academy Sports here in Pearland but the return policy just irritated me enough to write a review. I bought a tent here early spring this year and used a few times for my sons track meets. Now its football season and at the 1st game, 2 of the 4 ventilation holders on the top brake as if they are old and rusted. Tried to return the tent and Academy is saying there is only a 30 day warranty on this item and I need a receipt to exchange it when they have the exact tent in there store. Oh well, its academys lost because obviously they dont realize DICKS SPORTING GOODS is now open across the street and I will now spend my money across the street. Thanks academy for pushing me to DICKS!

This company is horrible. Shipped me 3 boxes of 100 22-short. 2 boxes were crushed with all the ammo rolling around inside the shipping container. Upon placing all the rounds back into their boxes discovered they shorted me 21 rounds. Customer service representative said there is nothing they can do.....just steal. I will never do business with them again. I have given my patronage to numerous companies such as Gander Mtn., Palmetto state armory, Midway, Ammunition depot, Sell way, never had such poor service. I encourage you to do business elsewhere.

their stores have no communication. they shipped me the wrong color shoe when my local store didnt have my size, then made me drive 30 minutes to exchange it for the correct color. customer service said it would be a totally even exchange because it was their mistake but upon the exchange they demanded $15 more because the color that I was supposed to have gotten was $15 more, even though their charge was not my mistake. when i called customer service again they said that the stores decide for themselves and each run individually (what the heck).

The Pearland location is big, larger than most of the other locations, and a great selection of items. Gun section however is about the same as other locations but fishing, clothing, hunting & firearms accessories, the other sports & shoes are a really good size. Not only is everything usually in stock, but this store carries more variety. FYI - nothing to do with Academy, but only complaint is the whole strip shopping mall - when its busy, theres no quick way in or out of the area.

Shoe sales personnel were great. Store needs cameras and personnel to monitor shoes. Computer records showed two boxes of my boots on hand. We found one box with only worn water shoes in it. The other box had a much cheaper pair of boots in it. The old swichem out trick. Area too busy and too big for only 2 busy clerks to watch.

They have a great selection but everything is over priced . Sad to see Sports Authority close down across the street because they would have some of the same stuff but about 21% cheaper . And even when Academy has sales , the items barely get a reduction . Cheaper to buy online or find another Sports Authority location

Horrible customer service nobody greets at the front door or the other service counters. They clearly have enough time to stand around and look at customers while socializing with one another. I rather drive twenty minutes away for another academy then five minutes up the street for location.
